A Father's Duty

Should I swap to 3rd person or continue using 1st person? I thought of using 3rd person, although uncomfortable to me, to train myself. Let me know your thoughts if I should continue using 1st person or switch to 3rd person. I'm letting y'all know I'm new to 3rd person perspective so mistakes will pop up in this chapter. This chapter will be on 3rd person, just letting y'all know.

The next day, Noct woke up really early and he was surprised to see that Aimaru woke up even earlier than him.

Not minding Aimaru, Noct summoned his trusty wooden katana and started practicing, Noct walked deeper in the mountain because the destruction his training will cause can be enough to change the landscape considering he'll be accelerating really fast and the ground will be full of spiderweb cracks.

Aimaru also noticed Noct has woken up and was about to greet him but he saw Noct going deeper in the mountain and decided to follow him to see what he'll do.

The sight Aimaru saw that day will be burned in his memory for the rest of his life.

Noct noticed Aimaru following him but it didn't matter, it would be a question whether he could follow his speed or not.

Noct then started regulating the oxygen in his body and went into the thunderclap and flash stance. He then exhaled before inhaling a huge amount of oxygen and started imaging the move in his mind. It was the mental routine of Aimaru and it helped him a lot to focus and concentrate as he ignored all outside stimulus.

'Thunderclap and Flash' He thought in his mind as electricity started generating in his body.

Aimaru was shocked to see electricity surrounding Noctis and suddenly the next thing he knew, he's gone. He could only see the crack that was left on the ground when Noctis moved. He tried following him in his eyes and when his eyes finally focused on Noctis' figure, he is gone once more.

Noctis started using thunderclap and flash constantly as he tried improving his time on constantly using it. Sounds of thunderclap could be heard in the forest and it made the residents of the forest restless as they thought a calamity was about to befall them.

Noctis continued dashing all over the place and wasn't aware of the damage he's causing in the landscape. Aimaru is too stunned and amazed to remind Noctis about the damage.

Suddenly Noctis stopped as he was exhausted and his legs feel like on fire but there was a wide smile on his face.

'one minute and thirty five seconds. Its my limit but if I push myself really hard then two minutes should be the maximum.' He thought. His only problem with doing thunderclap and flash is his eyes couldn't keep up with the speed. He needs someone really fast enough as a training partner so that his eyes could keep up with his speed. What's the purpose of speed if you can't hit anything because you can't see your target.

'Maybe I should ask Koro-sensei as my training partner.' He thought but shook his head. He just can't travel aimlessly. He had a family literally waiting for him to come home.

[I can solve your problem, but you need to upgrade the system twice.] The system's voice echoed in his mind. Noctis thought for a second. There's nothing actually attractive in his eyes at the shop right now. The devil fruit seed might be tempting but the probability of hitting a jackpot and earning a good fruit is really low and they cost a lot too. He couldn't take the risk.

Noctis thought for a second before making his mind. Toriko hasn't come to pick him up yet so upgrading the system wouldn't be bad in his opinion. Noctis pulled up the system interface in his mind and pressed the upgrade button. Even if he upgrade the system, he still had a lot of leftover points.

[The system will enter sleep mode but host can still use the shop store.]

[System upgrading...]

[Time left: 10 hours]

Noctis saw the upgrade timer and just smiled wryly. He should've upgraded the system last night but he haven't made a decision yet that time.

Aimaru stared at Noctis and wondered where such a powerful person came from. He was amazed by his strength and finally remembered the destruction he caused and sighed but he remembered that there was nothing living in the part of the forest that Noctis just destroyed.

"Oh, Aimaru, what're you doing there? You're peeping? Never knew you had the habit of peeping on others." Noctis joked as Aimaru had a wry smile.

'Can't you look at the destruction you just caused before calling me about peeping?' Aimaru thought.

"I don't have such hobbies, Noct. But you really are a strong person, huh." Aimaru said.

"Oh, I see then you just added peeping as your hobby? Or you deemed it as a job. That's bad you know. They will blame me if they know you became a pervert because of me." Noctis said as a tick mark appeared on Aimaru's temple but he forcefully calmed himself down.

"Toriko's gonna come up in an hour or so, he also said that he's bringing someone with him or should I say, tagged along with him." Aimaru said.

"Tagged along? Do you know who?" Noctis asked but he already knew who it was.

"I don't know. He just said he's a chef. A good one at that." Aimaru said.

"Then let's have breakfast before they arrive. Let me get something to eat from here." Noctis said and Aimaru nodded and went back to the camp.

Noctis then went on to forage ingredients from the place he just destroyed for 30 minutes and surprisingly, he found high quality ingredients in the destroyed part of the forest.

He was thinking whether to use the honeyblood but shook his head.

'Maybe I could ask Komatsu if there's a suitable ingredient to complement Honeyblood.' Noctis thought as he went back to the camp and was surprised to see Toriko and Komatsu already there.

'I thought they would reach this place in an hour?' Noctis thought but he saw two tied girrapple and found his answer. Girrapple's speed is fast that's why they are able to reach this place really fast.

He then saw Toriko arguing with Aimaru with Toriko calling Aimaru and the gourmet knights, a bean stalk, while Aimaru fired back by calling Toriko fat due to the bulging muscle he had. They stopped when Aimaru saw Noctis and calmed himself down. He then pointed at me and introduced me.

"He is Noctis, the man you're supposed to pick up. Also he's not as annoying as you." Aimaru didn't forget to fire a cheapshot back to Toriko.

Meanwhile in Toriko's mind, danger bells were sounding all over the place when he stared at Noctis and immediately went on a defensive stance.

"It seems like you noticed it, huh. That's right he's strong, but if my theory is correct, as long as you don't cause trouble for him, you'll be fine." Aimaru said and Toriko finally softened up but didn't let his guard down.

"Well, nice to meet you. You got good reaction as well. To immediately went on a defensive action, you're pretty good aren't you." Noctis said with a chuckle.

"Sorry about that. My cells were screaming danger when I saw you." Toriko apologized and finally loosened up.

"What do you mean dangerous?! He doesn't look like one." Komatsu panicked and it shows his naivety.

"Do you treat everyone you just met with a nice attitude? Aimaru over there is a special case because he can protect himself. How about you?" Noctis said as he tried to shave off Komatsu's naivety a little.

Komatsu paused for a second before exclaiming.

"Have you killed someone?! Toriko-san we should go right now!" He said but I just laughed really hard.

It took me 10 seconds before I stopped laughing.

"Sorry, I thought it was a comedy skit and i laughed." Noctis said and Komatsu was confused.

"You already forgot what Aimaru just said, 'don't cause trouble for him and you'll be fine' is what he says." Toriko said and Komatsu finally understood what he meant and was scared.

"Don't worry, I don't attack anyone without reason. You could say my bottom line is pretty good." Noctis chuckled but it still didn't remove the fear from Komatsu. Noctis' patience was trained by taking care of rowdy children. (You don't believe me? Take care of your younger sibling for a while, I swear your patience will be tested. It doesn't have to be your kid, just a younger sibling or cousin is enough.)

"Here, Aimaru said you're a chef right? Why don't you make us a breakfast." Noctis said and dumped the foraged ingredients down and Komatsu dropped his jaw when he saw the high quality ingredients on the ground.

"Let me tell you, Aimaru eats someone alive if the food didn't reach his standard." Noctis said and Komatsu became pale when he looked at Aimaru and different theories went to his head.

"Y-Yes! I will cook a great breakfast for everyone!" He shouted on the top of his lungs while Aimaru just looked at me with disbelief while I winked at him before chuckling and Toriko looked at our interaction before chuckling himself. He never saw Aimaru be defeated in the words department and this was the first time he saw Aimaru speechless so there's joy in his eyes seeing Aimaru's suffering.
