A Father's Duty

The 7 heads of the ruling family were having a meeting in a lavish room with decorations that you could tell at a glance that they are expensive. Jewelries, gold, antique paintings, there are lots of decorations inside the round table in the meeting hall.

The heads are sitting around the table and beside them are their assistant/secretary and their chosen heir. The reason why the heir were brought with them is because they want them to learn from their conversations as well as build connections with each other.

If Noctis were to know of their teaching methods, he would definitely scoff at it. Its simply inefficient. Instead of innovating, they like to stick to tradition and those who are different are usually frowned upon.

"We gathered here today, because I have received an alarming news from my spies from Bosco and Alvares." The man said. He is wearing a lavish outfit that nobles usually wear.

"I have heard that the man who single-handedly obliterated the Rain Kingdom's 1st, 2nd, and 6th regiment, which are considered the strongest regiment of their army, is currently travelling in a huge green boar. From what my spies told me, he is a space mage as well. I would like to know your opinions about this matter." The man said as he sat down once again.

A Woman who is in her mid 30s spoke up.

"This is ridiculous. You called me out here just because of this? Also you're spies haven't done sh*t. Its basically out in the public, Will." The Woman said to the man who spoke up earlier.

"Calm down Lily, we are here because we need to do something about this alarming news. Someone who can easily destroy a kingdom's best group of troops is a topic we need to thread lightly." An old man in his early 50s spoke up. Although he is currently 50, his face is looking young at early 40s as well. Its just that you could tell that he's getting old because of his hair and skin wrinkles.

"Ugh screw it Orego... I agree with Madam Lily. This is simply ridiculous. Your information are outdated. Just don't provoke the man. That's all there is to it. I'm pretty sure he's reasonable." A man who is in his early 30s said so.

"How do you know he's reasonable? You haven't even met him or knew his appearance." Orego replied.

"That's why I said all of your information is outdated. Even if I don't know what he looked like, I could still recognize him." The man said.

"Ha! You must be out of your mind, Andrew. Tell us, how could you recognize him if you haven't even seen or met him." A man in his 60s said.

"Alright, Zeke. Although I know that you want to get information for me..." Andrew said with a cunning smile while Zeke just smiled back and Andrew continued.

"But, I want this to be kept only within your family. No one will let the citizens know of it. As for this information, it took me quite some price to obtain this from Alvares' soldiers. Apparently, the man is the husband of Irene Belserion, the Scarlet Despair. It is said that the man volunteered himself in place of his wife who is currently resting as for the reason, I don't know." Andrew dropped the information but left out one important piece of information. He left out his name. He was also shocked when he knew the name of Irene's husband.

Back when his family just joined the 6 ruling families turning it into 7 ruling families, he and his family were kidnapped by a dark guild. To his luck, Noctis was around travelling and eradicating dark guilds left and right and he managed to save Andrew and his family, Andrew asked his name before he left. Noctis then left the family while picking up the dark mages as he wants to ask where their hideout is.

Andrew didn't know who ordered the kidnapping to them at that time, the next day, he increased the security around his house and family, he also heard of the dark guild Worm's Lair, destroyed. He then focused on getting more power to speak toe to toe with the ruling families. Years have passed and he got the power he seeks and is even superior to some of the ruling family, but he still remembers the night they were captured and their savior.

"What did you say?! Is that true?!" A man in his early 40s said.

"Of course Darius, why would I lie about this, I just want to go home and rest already." Andrew said.

"Is it really Irene Belserion?" Asked a calm woman who is in her mid 50s.

"Of course Grandma Hyde, why? You also don't believe it?" Andrew asked the old woman.

"No, but I'm surprised that that Irene is with a husband." Grandma Hyde said.

"Oh. That wasn't surprising at all. I'm more surprised that Irene has a daughter." Andrew dropped the bomb to them.

"All right, since we already knew things about him, I guess not causing trouble is a unanimous decision isn't it? Let's go Kia, Kian" Andrew stood up and left the meeting.

What Andrew said is true. Not causing trouble would be the best option, considering that the two people can destroy the country on their own.

Although they won't cause trouble, they would like to make some kind of connection towards their family because of what Andrew said.

'Irene has a daughter.' If they can capitalize that statement and make some kind of marriage ties with them, won't their speaking power increase simply just by being tied to them?

All of them left one by one but they all have the same thought in mind.

'To make a connection with the two persons.'

Meanwhile, Noctis sneezed while kneeling for hours while being berated by Irene.

'Is someone talking about me?' Noctis thought.

"You've got guts to look away while I'm lecturing you, don't you think?" Irene said with a smirk.

Noctis then stood up and hugged Irene from behind. The action was too fast and Irene struggled too late.

"Let me go, Noct!" Irene said.

"I get what you're trying to say, okay? I'll apologize tomorrow. How about telling me about the ruling families this time? Enough about me, let's plan for tomorrow." Noctis said and Irene looked at Noctis with a deadpan eyes.

"You're trying to avert your situation, aren't you?" Irene said.

"Can't help it, you're taking too long and it revolves around a single topic." Noctis replied.

"But-" Irene tried to speak but was stopped with a finger from Noctis.

"I know, I have made a mistake, that's why I'll talk to them, alright? Don't be angry. I'll explain it to them." Noctis said.

Irene nodded her head and Noctis removed the finger blocking Irene's lips.

"How about telling me about the seven ruling families? Do we need to be wary of them?" Noctis asked.

"The ruling families always relies on gold, connection, and relation.

Gold because the more rich you are the more power you have within the country.

Connection because having connection with a strong influence can also help you gain more power.

As for the relationship, they marry their sons or daughters to those who they deemed that could help them gain more power and influence." Irene said.

"So Sevens is a country who works around benefits? Isn't that a weak country?" Noctis asked.

"Yes, they do work around benefits. They might be business rivals but when an invader comes knocking on their door, they bond together to repel the invaders. And every families' military strength is nothing to scoff at." Irene said to Noctis.

"So? What are the name of the leaders within each family?" Noctis asked the main question.

"Well let's start off with the weakest, the leader of the Kirilenko family, leading the Kirilenko Family is Grandma Hyde. Their family focuses on low cost goods like rations that they sell in the surrounding country for their army. Although it looked simple, Grandma Hyde is a renowned Earth Mage. famous for burying tens of thousands of soldiers with her magic. So far Grandma Hyde's granddaughter shows promise that she could surpass her at a young age of 20." Irene explained.

Noctis nodded as he listened to Irene who has a large amount of information about them.
