Chapter 52 - Last Humanity

I looked down at Ella and made sure that she was alright before complaining in my mind.

Did this god go out of his way to troll people?

Why in the hell would the message pop up after pushing Ella to the ground?

Ugh.

Well at least it had solved one of my worries. Up till this point I was worried what I would do with Ella once we got into the town, or if I would actually go into the town with Ella. Now I didn't have to choose, Ella couldn't come in even if she wanted to.

Backing up away from the barrier I had to think for a while on what I was going to do. After a few minutes I made up my mind and started to talk to Ella.

"Ella, I'll need you to stay outside while I go in."

Ell didn't look happy that she was going to be left behind but knew she couldn't get through the barrier. I didn't have to explain the matter to her as she could feel how important it was for me to go. Struggling with her expression for a while she finally nodded and said it was fine.

"Fine, Father."

I didn't chide her for calling me father this time; I was trying to be nice, I could feel her discontent.

"You need to stay here until I get back."

Her face changed even more as my words came out, she really wasn't happy. Before she could start complaining, I rethought the subject and quickly spoke up.

"Ok, I know, I know. You can go hunting for something to eat. But don't go too far, and make sure you don't get hurt. I'll be sad if something happens to you."

A happy smile came back to her face as she gave me a hug. Patting her on the back, I got ready to go towards the town. It wouldn't be a safe place, not after hearing all about the gang boss; I would have to make some preparations.

I wouldn't just roll over and let them take my entertainment points or gear. If they pushed me too far, seeing as modern weapons aren't a thing now, I could probably handle them, or at least escape after I leave.

"I won't be too long."

I said my parting words and started to make my way towards the gate. I would look over my shoulder every now and then and see Ella staring at me, but after a while, she also turned and sped off in some direction.

She was getting hungry.

The further away from Ella I was, the less I could feel the connection between us. I'm sure that if imprint was higher, this might not be the case, but for now it was. I wasn't completely sure how far I could actually follow the connection, and I didn't want to test it either.

I would make this trip fast.

Moving towards the huge walls I could finally see the gate after moving around. There were 3 people standing at the gate and they were all wearing combat gear. Looking at their menacing faces they were trying to be intimidating and I must say they got it spot on.

2 out of the 3 men that were standing at the gate had huge broad swords slung over their shoulders, and had hulking frames. They were easily over 2 meters tall and 50 centimeters taller than me. One of them even had a scar that carved out half his face. From his left eye to the bottom of his collar bone the scar stretched.

My feet paused for a second as I saw the faces of these thugs and I couldn't help but berate myself for being intimidated. What did I have to fear, I couldn't be afraid of other people, as I couldn't be afraid of zombies or beast.

I grit my teeth and used analyze on them, I wouldn't just barge through without checking them out.

HAHAHAHA

I almost couldn't help myself from laughing as I saw the last name. Freezer! Oh my god, what the hell type of luck did he have, to be named Freezer. What parents would name their kid after an application.

Freezer was the big guy with the scar running down his face and was the most intimidating, but after seeing his name I couldn't take him seriously anymore. He was the most powerful out of them, being at level 6.

Even though his level was high, I was still higher, my confidence had returned. What I really had to be worried about was the fact that they were all of the Soldier and Warrior class. If they had a special type of move or skill from being in the classes, they could pose trouble.

As I was analyzing them they had also turned towards me and showed fierce expressions. The shorter man of the 3 also used analyze on me. I could tell as his eyes flashed and in my spirit vision I could see a slight aura make its way towards me.

Could I stop it if I wanted to?

It was food for thought as I looked at the aura that had arrived. After seeing my status the small guys face paled, but as he looked at the 2 big fellas next to him and especially Freezer he had an arrogant expression.

I sighed in my mind as I knew this was going to go bad.

As I finally made it up to them the small guy stood in front of me as the others flanked my sides.

"Stop!"

God his voice was loud.

"Hand over some of your gear for entrance into the city!"

"Why do you do this to a fellow Human?"

I couldn't help but talk quietly as I looked at the smug expression of the person. His name was Joel and his beady eyes stared at me in a covetous manner as they shifted from my gear, to the sword that was hanging at my waist.

"Look, buddy, I can see that you have a high level, being a level 7 is an impressive thing, even fridge here is only level 6."

He showed me a condescending smile as he motioned towards Freezer on my left.

"But when I say you need to give us your gear, I wasn't really giving you a choice. Now hand it over! But because you are so talkative, I think we should take all of our gear. What do you think boys?"

Alan and Freezer that were next to me just gave menacing smiles and pulled out their big swords.

"Why would you do this to another person?"

I still spoke quietly as my rage towards these guys started to awaken. My mind cooled down and a sharp glint appeared in my eyes, waiting for their response.

Joel just laughed loudly as he heard my question.

"Why!? Why?! Because we can, it's a dog eat dog world now, why should I care about your dog life. As long as I can get better gear and keep surviving, I don't fricking care about you. I've changed my mind, I'm just going to kill you and take your gear."

Joel also pulled out his sword and got ready to fight. Those next to me also brandished their swords. I closed my eyes for a second as I heard the cruel reality from his voice.

I knew people were like this, I know not everyone is like this.

I just want to meet one normal survivor that doesn't want to kill me.

The only normal person I have been able to interact with has been Ella, and she is an infected. I still wanted to believe in humanity. I really did!

"Don't worry guys he's level 7 but has no class. It'll be easy."

Even after everything that had happened in the hospital, I was hoping that some semblance of a good person could be found. Why do I keep meeting people like this?

As I closed my eyes and stood there, my anger reaching near its peak, my head coldly assessed all that I had known before the apocalypse, and what had come after.

It assessed all the survivors that I had met, the atrocities I had seen with people trying to survive.

And as I stood there and looked like I was waiting for death, the last traces of humanity I held onto slipped away.

As it went it was like something was unlocked within me, and I felt a different aura coursing through my body.

I knew what this aura was and had felt it many a time. I had even used it once or twice when I was fighting back in the hospital, but it wasn't of much help. I just couldn't control it very well.

But now as it coursed through me, it was as if a river was unblocked.

The aura exploded out and weighed down on the thugs around me.

The aura of an Emperor, the same Aura that Ella always used, was now pulsing out from me.

Joel, Alan and freezer all froze around me, as I finally opened my eyes.

I could see them glowing with a chilling light from the reflection of terror in Joel's eye's.

I finally pulled my swift blade out.
