114. Another Witness (2)

But unexpectedly, after what happened that day, Liu Lanxue’s mental state became subnormal. For example, when giving a lesson, she would suddenly scream like a psychopath. What was even more dramatic was that on one occasion, she used a padlock to lock the whole class in the classroom.

Zhao Yao felt that she herself was also on the verge of losing her mind, believing that this teacher had virtually gone crazy.

One day, during a PE class, all students in their class were on the sports ground. Zhao Yao, who was thirty, found that she had left her Thermos bottle in the classroom. Originally she’d intended to have Xu Tianhao get it for her, but she couldn’t find him. Consumed with anger, Zhao Yao asked Xu Tianhao’s bosom friends and was told that Xu Tianhao had returned to the classroom.

Zhao Yao had no choice but to go back to the classroom to get her Thermos bottle herself and look for Xu Tianhao in passing.

Approaching the doorway of the classroom, she heard something strange which sounded like a woman’s sob. Zhao Yao knitted her brows in disgust and wondered, ‘They’re not doing something improper in the classroom, are they?’

But as Zhao Yao walked closer and the voice grew more and more distinct, she found that it was not what she’d thought. It was a woman apologizing in a low voice, who was sobbing at the same time.

“I was wrong. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have wronged you.”

The voice sounded very familiar.

Zhao Yao’s frown deepened and she kept walking towards the classroom. Finally, she reached the doorway and, through the window, saw what was happening inside. Zhao Yao’s eyes gradually widened with astonishment.

Inside the classroom, Liu Lanxue on her knees was repeatedly slapping her own face and pinching herself while apologizing to Xu Tianhao, who was sitting on the teacher’s desk with ankle on knee, cutting a wildly cocky figure.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have wronged you. I was wrong.”

Xu Tianhao mercilessly aimed a kick at Liu Lanxue, who was instantly sent flying and hit the wall, her whole face twisting in pain.

“You damned woman. How dare you work against me? Here’s your punishment – on a daily basis you are to kneel before me and say you’re sorry. Humph, you’d better be obedient and behave yourself, or else I’ll have the principal fire you and your parents beaten to death.”

Liu Lanxue was instantly thrown into panic. On her knees, she grabbed Xu Tianhao’s pant legs and implored, “No, please don’t. Please don’t hurt my parents. I know I was wrong. I’m sorry. I’ve learned my lesson.”

Zhao Yao, unable to keep watching, covered her mouth and ran away.

That person in there was not the handsome Xu Tianhao she knew. It was true that people like them were born with a sense of superiority, but this was based on their economic backgrounds, and the family education Zhao Yao had received was totally different from that Xu Tianhao had. The latter was the kind of unruly person who had been spoiled by his family, who didn’t have the faintest idea of what ethics or morality was, let alone respect, which was why he had no scruples whatsoever about bullying other students and his teacher.

Zhao Yao decided to break up with Xu Tianhao immediately and then report this matter to the principal – this was outrageous.

However, before Zhao Yao could do anything, she heard that Liu Lanxue called Xu Tianhao to the office for a talk once again.

This time, Zhao Yao was more discreet. Believing that she would have something more convincing by filming the whole thing, she sneaked into the office and installed a pinhole camera in there beforehand.

But unexpectedly, afterwards news came out that Xu Tianhao died!

Zhao Yao’s head was swimming when she got the memory card in the pinhole camera. Strangely enough, in fear, she emboldened herself instead of being daunted, fished out the memory card and played the video.

In the surveillance video, Liu Lanxue was in the office alone. The expression on her face was somewhat odd: the corners of her mouth were curled up looking stiff, as if someone else had pushed them to that position. Liu Lanxue fished her diary out of a drawer and started tearing the middle pages off one by one. And then, Zhao Yao saw Liu Lanxue swallow those diary pages.

Of course, not long after she started doing this, Xu Tianhao walked inside.

Xu Tianhao kicked the door open in a very rude manner, which interrupted Liu Lanxue swallowing paper. Seeing Liu Lanxue’s weird conduct, Xu Tianhao was briefly stunned, but Liu Lanxue had been behaving abnormally all the time lately, so Xu Tianhao gave a sneer of contempt and said, “You crazy woman, what is this madness about this time?”

Liu Lanxue woodenly raised her head and cast a faint, almost unnoticeable smile in Xu Tianhao’s direction.

And then, in the next instant, Liu Lanxue’s plump face was suddenly cloaked in a shroud of black gas! The black gas wrapped itself around Liu Lanxue’s face, as if it possessed its own consciousness, which made her whole countenance appear hideous and horrifying.

Zhao Yao rounded her eyes with terror but was unable to let a scream. Though this was happening in a video, she could still feel her flesh creeping as her eyes fell on Liu Lanxue’s face.

Liu Lanxue’s voice was like the cracking sound of the tip of a shape saber heavily cutting across solid ground.

“Xu Tianhao, you, will die a miserable death.”

Certainly Xu Tianhao was dumbfounded. In the next instant, Xu Tianhao acted as if someone suddenly grabbed his neck, and the weirdest part was that Liu Lanxue was still standing in her original position and had never moved an inch! Xu Tianhao’s eyes abruptly dilated and he was lifted bodily into the air from the ground, struggling violently. Finally, Xu Tianhao managed to pull himself free and ran out of the office. Zhao Yao abruptly fell from her chair to the ground, shaking constantly.

‘Do ghosts really exist in this world?’

Curling up beneath the quilt, Zhao Yao was unable to stop herself from shuddering. She shook her head madly in an effort to dismiss those thoughts from her mind. Ever since she’d seen that scene in the video, she kept picturing Xu Tianhao’s spirit coming up to her, questioning in a pitiful tone why she hadn’t come to his help…
