Chapter 11 - The Third Ring!

He teleported back home and sneaked into his room without anyone knowing including his parents, Ray just guessed that luck was on his side today.

He took out his spirit bone which he got from the 'Three-Headed Flame Cerebrus' and asked [Ridley] something, "Hey [Ridley], because I can upgrade my rings can that include bones as well?" he waited in anticipation for a green light, "Ding!... Yes, Ray, it does include bones as it does say objects are included".

Ray quickly pulled out the bone from his storage and decided to upgrade the shit out of the bone as there is no limitation to the age of the bone you can have on you, he quickly got to work, the leg bone was big and covered in a red coloured aura as well as giving off a hot feeling to it, but that quickly changed when it began to age with a shiny emerald light raining over it, the feeling of multiple bottlecaps on its age was resounding at each point till he reached near the 100,000 years where things began to get really tricky.

You see for the higher the age of the ring or bone the harder it would be for you to upgrade it, and that includes certain age thresholds as well, the 100,000 age is like a dense door, you just have to push it hard enough to open it, but things are easier said than done...

He was at the 99,999 age right now and pushing towards the next goal, the months of age for the bone were going up, but slowed down until it was going up in days instead, but that wasn't the real problem here, the problem was that Ray was using energy to use his ageing ability and he didn't have enough for the current process and stopping now would make it harder in the future as you need to reach the threshold before you can stop; that's why he decided that, because he didn't have enough, he would use one of his new abilities, [Black-Hole] which would allow him to suck up the energy around him, the only downside is that he has to use this energy as quickly as he got it or else he will start to feel a strain in his body, which could lead to internal damage and from there it could create massive drawback in his foundation, weakening his potential, which he didn't want, obviously.

But for the current scenario, it was perfect, he used the ability and s.u.c.k.e.d up the energy to upgrade the ring, ageing it slowly till it reached its goal... this process was happening to close to 40 minutes before he was done.

The sound of a lock opening is what happened and then a slight increase in the pressure that was released when it finally reached the age of 100,000 and the intensity of the red aura around the bone was increasing.

Ray put the bone away before he quickly lied on his bed and made a quick 'phew' to say that his ordeal was over.

NEXT DAY

Ray woke up and got dressed for the day, going towards the smell of his mother's morning cooking, the insatiable smell of the sizzling food on the fire, true bliss!

He sat down with his father next to him did the normal greeting that you would do towards your parents, "Morning, mom and dad!", his father was the first to reply as his mother was to busy in her blissful humming whilst cooking, "Oh, morning son, you seem full of energy today."

Ray was talking with his father for a while about casual stuff and some of the small things he has to deal with in the clan and how troublesome they are.

After the small talk with his father, his mother was done with breakfast and she started to talk with them as well whilst eating...

The rest of the done went normal and so did the rest of the days to come...

3 MONTHS LATER

Ray finally reached Rank 30, he could've reached higher but then he didn't want to seem like someone who always stayed inside cultivating and not play with his friends, plus his mother was nagging him on acting his age and going outside to play more.

He decided that this time he was going to ask his grandfather to go with him, so it didn't seem suspicious that he was leaving the clan as he did for second rings, which slipped his mind as he was too excited, but in the end, he doesn't regret it as he met his new friends the female 'Black Space Deer', Willow and the 'Three-Headed Flame Cerebrus', Ray names the beast Tartarus after the Greek meaning for hell as after all it was to him a known as a guard to the gate of the underworld.

Anyway, he chose his grandfather as he, funnily enough, has a bit of a bad memory and Ray can say that he asked his grandfather to take him to out of the clan, and his grandfather would just say he did as he knew himself that his memory wasn't what it use to be, but as a titled Douluo he wouldn't admit to this fact.

Ray was in front of his grandfather who was wondering why he was at his home, not that it wasn't a welcomed visit from his cute grandson, Ray said, "Grandpa, can you take me to get my next ring please?!", Ray didn't pull any punches when he asked, he smiled with the purest innocence possible further increasing his cuteness to insane levels! His grandfather could only be gobsmacked at this and thought, "My god...this is my grandson, he will be handsome and powerful, heck he can already get his second ring and it hasn't even been 1 year! Hahaha, I am truly blessed!" Well, his grandfather wasn't wrong completely, he is blessed with an amazing grandson, but the fact that he thinks that Ray is only his second ring was wrong and he will soon learn of this fact.

Ray was expectant for the right answer, heck you could see it in his big gleaming with light eyes, "Ok, my child, we will get your second ring now, let us go!", "Wait, grandpa, um, you just made a mistake there don't you remember?", "Hmm, what are you on about?", "Grandpa, how could you forget, I have already gotten my second ring, you were the one you took me to get it and the one we're going to get is my third now!"

His grandfather looked at him blankly for a second and blinked whilst inwardly thinking, 'The f.u.c.k!!! I know my grandson is blessed but this is monstrous, it hasn't even been a year!!! And he's already on his third and what's this about me helping you get you your second?! Damn you, cursed memory!!!

His grandfather looked at him and nodded as if he remembers and they continued in silence towards the forest to get his third rings.

But as they got close his grandfather remembered that he didn't know the age of the rings that his grandson has, "My child, I forgot to ask you something but what are the ages of your first and second ring?", "Oh, they are all at the thousand age, why?", "Oh, thousand age...not bad, not bad at all...wait...all at the thousand age! How is that possible, they can't be all at that age, quickly SHOW ME!"

Ray used his high illusion to show all his rings as purple thousand rings around him, this made his grandfather shocked to the core as it is known that its practically impossible to have your first ring as the thousand range of rings.

His grandfather was inwardly thinking, 'My grandson...what kinda unprecedented monster is he, he's level 30 before even being 10, he has all two of the highest tiers of spirits and all his rings are of the thousand age category...this clan of ours is something that may not even be to hold him before the age of 12, he may even leave to go on an adventure out of the clan before that age...sigh... there is one thing I have learnt with my old age and experience the more talented one is, the more sought after they are by men of greed...my grandson...your life will be arduous but as long as your clan and family are alive we back you every step of the way as you lead it through a new age and if I cannot make this promise then my name and title is not Guang Yin, the 'Demigod Skyfire Scythe Douluo'!"

After his grandfather was making his vow to the heavens, the pair walked into the forest. Ray activated his dragon eyes and decided to use a new ability he created during the months, he named it 'elemental translation', and you may be able to guess what it does by the name, but if you didn't, then listen here, the ability lets him communicate with the essence or heart of an element within the air and essentially acts as a relay for the surroundings, letting him know any changes and movement in the area.

He used this to quickly find any spirit beast in the area around them, and it eventually worked out as they found a peak thousand-year-old giant earth ape, a variant of the normal giant ape, and leans towards the defensive side, it was a good ring all things considered, as they are prone to give abilities to do with ground control.

Ray's grandfather weakened the beast but didn't kill it as he wanted to see Ray's ability to attack and kill, Ray wanted to weaken the beast even further before he goes in for close combat, so he used one of his first abilities, 'Golden Chain Shockwave', suddenly a bolt of swirling golden lightning grapples around the ape, the ape struggling while trying to use the earth around it to get rid of the now formed chain around it that increased in voltage the longer it was on him.

Ray didn't choose his first ability because it would save energy, but because, if you've ever watched Naruto then you would know that lightning beats earth any day, especially when the ability he uses is a restraining one that can cause massive damage.

Ray pulled his imaginary trigger and the chain expanded into a bright light of energy created a shockwave around the ape, frying it to a near charred state, the beast, amazingly enough, was still clinging to life, but soon it would be in a better place, in Ray's min space...

Ray summoned up his dragon claw and pointed it towards the ape and whispered to it, "Join me and you will be stronger!", the beast saw the aura of a beast king as all beasts would and instantly said, "O-oh...sovereign, it...was you", it was gasping for breath and it knew it was dying so it accepted the deal, the beast was soon lifeless with a dragon claw crumbling its heart, a purple ring appeared, Ray sat down and integrated with a new ring that he would age later as he did with all his other rings.

(A/N: I'm gonna make a separate chapter with all his stats and abilities with his rings and stuff later)

The abilities he got from the ape were:

-[Earth Trap]: A rather simple ability, it allows him to set traps of earth around a field of land that when stepped on will cause the surrounding earth to bury the try to hold the person or object in place but it harder to contain spirit master with the right strength or rank 30 above the user.

-[Earth Armour]: The ability to create an armour of earth around the user or others if the user chooses and can withstand the strength of 7,500 kg as well as being 20% to elements.

-[Mineral manipulation]: The ability to manipulate the earth to the point of feeling the metals and minerals in the ground and being able to control them and shape them to your will. (A/N: Gives to dragon claw/avatar)

As Ray was looking at his new abilities he, suddenly felt the wind get heavier and looked at his grandfather who was floating above, Ray was confused so he decided to fly upwards by using the wind element and his illusion shape manipulation.

Once he got high enough he sees a giant golden eagle facing off against his grandfather with a weird ability that rebounds any attack that gets near it.

His grandfather sees him flying up and is surprised for a second before going back to looking at the eagle, "Grandson, stay behind me, this bird is a bit dangerous, it may just be a peak thousand-year beast but it can go against any ten-thousand-year beast and win, and it's perfect for you"

He saw his grandfather use an ability, a white flame appeared on him, but before he could use it, Ray summoned his claw and the eagle looked at him and blinked in confusion and then it understood that it was in front of someone amazing, he nodded its head as to surrender and Ray's grandfather was astounded and confused as he didn't see what happened as Ray was behind him.

Moments later Ray was in front of the eagle and it was communicating with it, "So, you wanna join me?!", "Yes, your holiness!"

They both sat down and Ray had the new purple ring around him and he integrated with the now dead beast ring.

It took him twenty minutes to integrate with the ring, and then he got up to face his grandfather, "Oh, you're finally done, come, we must leave the forest now before we stumble on some uninvited guests.

He checked his new ability he got from the eagle which he learned was a 'Golden Nomad Eagle' on the way back to the clan:

-[Rebound]: A field is created that rebounds attacks back onto the origin of it, it can also be used to contain attacks if controlled well enough.

-[Wind Flicker]: Using the wind, you can make people lose sight of you by the burst of speed gathered at one point to push you to further heights.

Ray had returned home and his grandfather who soon left to do whatever elders of the clan do in their spare time.

He returned home to his parents who didn't know where he went and were angry, Ray had explained that he was in need of a new ring as he entered a bottleneck so he went to the forest to get a new ring with his grandfather, they calmed down after learning of his excuse and took it as a child that's too excited to do something, which is natural at his age.

Later that day, Ray went to his room and upgraded his rings and checked his status.
