Chapter 14 - System Update?!

1 WEEK LATER

It had been one week since Ray had settled into his new business and so far it was going smoothly, well there was this one encounter with some of the other businesses who were curious of his business and tried to start a competition with him, but seeing as he was a spirit king, they gave up...

He was making quick money as he didn't charge high fees as the other businesses did, the average for getting a 100-year-old ring was 7 gold coins but Ray decided to do 5 as it was easy money and he didn't have to do as much blacksmith work as he originally thought but that wasn't a bad thing, the other businesses had at most spirit ancestors and he was a whole rank higher than that, so honestly making money was easy, not that he desperately needed it but it was always to have more.

Ray decided he would join at the same time as Dai Mubai which would be 3 years from now, he was thinking that he would be a too high level at all and would probably need to become a teacher or some shit but then something unexpected happened...

[Ridley]: "Ray, I have just received the opportunity to update, would you like for me to update now?"

Ray looked confused and said, "Wait...you could update this whole time and didn't even mention it and what's so great about this 'update'?".

[Ridley]: "The system will be changed and gain the ability to access bloodlines, more things will be added to the store and more but that can only be said once the update is completed."

Ray thought about the idea of gaining a bloodline and this would be a reward no matter what and he said back to [Ridley], "Ok, go ahead and update then.", Ray forgot to ask one crucial thing and that was how it would affect him...

[Ridley]: "Ding!... Ray has confirmed, update in process, time taken till completion: 8 years; during this time user Ray will be stopped at the cultivation level of 60 and will also only be able to access the [shop] twice a month as it will be going under maintenance."

Ray: "Oh, ok...wait, WHAT! I'm gonna be stuck at rank 60 the hell is this shit!! Oi [Ridley] respond to me goddamit Oiiiii!!!", Ray went on his little tantrum for 5 more minutes before he gave up realising that the system or more specifically [Ridley] couldn't respond to him.

Ray: "Well, shit I'm rank 56 right now, I can only cultivate 4 more ranks before it stagnates for 8 f.u.c.kin' years, guess imma gonna have to learn or do something else in the meantime good thing I can still enter the [shop]...", by that time he would be 17, he would still be higher than the other Shrek seven devils but he wouldn't be of as much help as he would've originally liked to be.

Ray re-thought of his future plans when he enrols in Shrek and joins in 3 years, 'Well, at least it means I can stay here for longer than I originally planned, but damn 8 years, this update better give me some kickass bloodlines...
