A Necromancer's Journey

Chapter 5 - Necromancy!?

Seth picked up the dice and looked it over before tossing it. He took note that they were eight-sided with black paint and have white images appearing and vanishing on its sides. As the dice rolled Seth could see images occasionally appear as the dice rolled around in a circle (how did they get dice to go in a circle?). There were images like a fox, an eagle, a lion, and a skeleton.

The dice stopped on the image of a skeleton.

"Congratulations, you've been assigned to the necromancy class."

Seth's face went pale, but before he could protest he was forced out of the room by the acolyte (Necromancy! That's the darkest of all magic! The evilest magic around!).

As he walked back to the reception area, face still pale, he spotted John, Mirabell, and Francine walking out of their rooms as well, a happy expression on their face.

"I got assigned to darkness magic!" Said John, excited to put his darkness affinity to use.

"I got assigned to illusion magic!" Said Francine, clearly smug.

"I got assigned to potions!" Said Mirabell, happy to not be in a combat class.

"I got assigned to necromancy..." Said Seth, his voice low and hoarse.

Gasps rang out in the hall as his new friends looked at him in horror.

"Necromancy!? That's the darkest magic around!" Shouted John, an aghast expression still on his face.

"I know... I'm going to see about a transfer."

Seth thought in silence the entire way back to their home, sadness on his face.

Deciding after a half-hour of talking and fooling around (my new memories seem to be influencing my actions...) to go to the library. Seth started his long walk to the library while using the map he found had appeared on his bed while he was getting his class.

After arriving, Seth was immediately asked to confirm his identity and had some of his blood drawn before he could enter the building.

After asking for some help, Seth was lead towards the section on necromancy and grabbed a book called 'The Basics of Necromancy' and sat down.

The Basics of Necromancy

Chapter One

To all my lost readers out there, fear not that you may run astray, for all paths lead to the same end. The most basic thing one needs to know about necromancy is that it is not always about raising the dead, but is usually about conversing with spirits and using their knowledge to aid you. Using constant meditation and projecting enough of your will, you will eventually be able to see, feel, and hear that which others can not. Necromancy to me isn't the art of raising the dead, but instead the art of experiencing the real world.

To begin your practice one should first find a quiet place and close their eyes. Breathe deeply in through your nose and imagine there's a forcefield of light around you (the color you have the most affinity towards will appear before you). As you breathe in, imagine part of the light heading into your nose and towards the space in between your eyebrows. After one has done this for...
