Calvin was traversing the snow covered ground to the mountains as best he could. Without the help of the soul keeper, his only option was a large pair of boots, and a warm winter jacket to block the wind.

He approached the ridge of the mountains, now faced with a downhill slope to the center of the four peaks. Out in the distance, he saw the full moon shift, lighting the night sky in an instant.

His mouth dropped as he saw colossal rays of sunlight pierce the ground about a mile out, nearly shaking the ground beneath him. The rays quickly diminished and the moon was back to its normal state out in the darkness.

He knew he was close, but unaware of how fast he can make it.

Laena rose from the cold ground, shaking some dust off her in the process. It took a second for her to process what just happened, realizing she's separated from all her friends. She stared at the wall 40 meters away from her, and the man that stood in front of it, facing the symbols she had no translation for.

She was confused, but managed to see a large hallway behind the mysterious wall, similar to the one they traversed at the beginning.

Unaware of the origins of the man standing in front of the wall, it was a clear indication he wasn't there to make friends.

The man wore the same robes as all the other corrupted humans in these chambers. He had short brown hair, and a large scar on the back of his neck.

As Laena approached closer and closer, she was able to see his scar, almost dropping to the floor in overwhelming disbelief.

"D-dad?" Laena spoke quietly, afraid of the consequences if she was wrong.

The man turned around slowly, giving a friendly smile to Laena. His rigid nose was small, broken many times from his adventures. Eyes gleaming a light green color like the sunlight shining off the skin of an apple, and a crescent smile, showing his unforgettable love for his daughter.

Lanea could see him clearly now, there was no mistake this was her father. Alive, with dark marks covering his neck, seeming to creep up to his face slowly and slowly.

Tears started to form around her eyes, blurring her vision as she started running towards her beloved father.

However, she was stopped by a hand that reached from the ground to grab her ankle. The hand seemed like it was made of a white aura, like a very bright white light. White sparks seemed to fly out of the hand, but nothing that would cause any sort of harm.

She tried to break free of the forceful grip, unsuccessful of even budging it. Looking back at her father, she noticed him approaching her, taking a sudden stop about 10 meters away.

"Laena… You've grown so much… Please, do not cry."

"Father what is this?! Where have you been?!" Soft tears started to drop on the ground, rolling down her face until they reached their drop off point.

"I'm sure you have many questions. And I'd be happy to answer them. But time is not something I have," he said as he opened his robes, showing his b.a.r.e c.h.e.s.t filled with darkness and dark miasma protruding the air.

"What do you mean you don't have time?!" I haven't see-"

"Laena," He interrupted her, "I came here long ago… Seeking strength for courage to protect you and our family," he looked at his hand, noticing not a single trace of skin left. "And I met a boy. His name was Abbadon Sylver… He seemed strange, almost inhuman. But he promised me power like I've never had before, power to protect you."

His face began to melt in emotions, on the verge of shedding tears but tried his best to remain strong in front of his daughter. He proceeded to explain that Abbadon massacred the previous laws of the universe, but unable to harness all their powers by himself. He needed to spread his powers to others, but only those that obeyed his every word in exchange for anything they've ever wanted. So, Laena's father foolishly agreed, quickly realizing he's made a terrible mistake.

Although he was granted unimaginable power, he was forced to lure poor souls to this chamber, taking their humanity in the process. Him and Abbadon would mercilessly spread corruption onto them, filling their bodies hearts with darkness, all for power.

However, Abbadon soon realized that he needed the lives of those actually meant to be the laws. Setting illusions and schemes to directly lead them to him in the end.

Abbadon even went as far as to ensure their victories in certain events, including the jackpot monster Atlas so called 'defeated' during the entrance exam.

"Laena. My humanity will soon fade away… So please, do this one last favor for dad. All the powers I've gained, I want you to have them…"

"WHAT! Dad what do you mean? You can't leave.. Please!"

"I have no choice honey… I'm sorry." He started walking towards her as he witnessed the tears streaming down her face, stopping himself a perfect distance out of arm's reach.

She was out of words, staring into his eyes as he grabbed her forearms with his. Laena could feel his cold touch, sensing an aura entering her body.

Her tears still blurred her vision, unable to speak as her mouth was filled with sadness. As an aura began entering her soul, she could see her fathers skin fading away, being replaced by the black shadows that covered his body.

"Laena. I need you to promise me something," he said as he waited for a response, seeing his daughter nod to the best of her abilities.

"I am giving you light magic. Magic you that I want you to have, and remember me by... I want you to promise me that as soon as I let go, you're going to run. Run as fast as you can out of here down the hallway behind the Wall that holds the Law of gender…"

She sniffed, wiping away some tears with her warm jacket on her shoulder.

"When you run away, no matter what, you must come back with others to kill me… I will no longer have control of my human emotions. I will be corrupted within the Law of gender, unable to hold myself back…"

Laena couldn't believe what she was hearing, screaming and yelling in frustration until her father interrupted her once more, "Laena. Promise me. I love you.."

"I-I promise…"

He smiled, letting go and backing away slowly as Laena felt an extremely powerful aura enter her body, emitting a bright white miasma off of her. She saw her father back away towards the wall, seeing his face slowly become filled with darkness, and falling on the ground away from her.

With tears slowly starting to stop their endless streams, she was on the verge of running as fast as she could away from this chamber until something halted her escape from behind.

The rocky walls behind her started to slowly shake, as if something was approaching. Laena turned around, seeing the rocks break open, forming a large cloud of dust and debris. Once the dust cleared, Laena was finally able to see what made such a mess.

Faibel merged into her field of view from the crash, in a gastly state she wouldn't expect to see anyone in. He was covered in dry blood from head to toe, filled with open wounds and bruises all over his c.h.e.s.t and arm, and had a few pieces of ripped cotton wrapped over his fists that were leaking tremendous amounts of blood.

Once Faibel layed eyes on Laena, he managed to smile, before collapsing on the floor from blood loss and exhaustion.

"FAIBEL!" She yelled as she rushed over towards his body on the ground, unsure of what to do. He was unresponsive, barely even breathing at this point.

Shaking him uncontrollably didn't seem to wake him up, "You can't die here! Please wake up! I can't lose you too!" All it did was waste more time.

On the verge of giving up, Laena heard a soothing voice in her head, recognizing it immediately to be her father's.

"Laena. Light magic has the ability to heal some of the most drastic wounds imaginale. Even saving those standing on death's door. With practice, you will learn amazing spells, but there is only one you need to save your friend… Healing Light.."

The voice then faded away, giving Laena the confidence she needed to possibly save Faibel. With her tears finally gone, able to witness her target clearly, and her mind concentrated on the palms of her hands, she started to feel a glowing bright light escape her body.

"Healing Light," she said calmly as the light entered Faibel immediately, slowly starting to cover his wounds in a white aura.

She could feel the spell taking up all her energy, preventing her abilities to cast another for at least a full day. Meanwhile, Faibel's wounds started to slowly close, regenerating a decent amount of blood that was lost in his previous endeavors.

His heartbeat was rising at a steady rate, and his breathing began to become steady as he was slowly regaining enough strength to open his eyes. The first thing he saw was his own life being restored by Laena's delightful smile to greet his awakening.

"L-Laena?" Faibel said in a rusty voice.

"You're. Awake…" Laena whispered as her spell began to fade, replacing it with a soft hug onto Faibel. He managed to put an arm around her as well, more than gratified his life was saved.

"What happened he-"

"I'll explain another time, but we have to get out of here now! Can you stand?" Laena interrupted his curiosity of the surroundings.

"GGRHHH." Although he was partially restored, he could still feel the pain from his wounds, "I-I can try.."

With Laena's help, he was slowly brought back to his feet, able to stand with a slight balance deviation. With both of them ready to leave, an immovable force blocked their path.

Laena's father, now completely ill.u.s.trated as a black shadow, silhouetting a human in a treacherous way. She couldn't b.a.r.e to look at such a monster standing in her father's shoes, the sight made her sick to her stomach, afraid of what's going to happen next.

Faibel couldn't fight it, not with how weakened he was, and the essence coming of this dark shadow was easily on par with Calvin, hunching even he would have a hard time with this thing.

However, that thought quickly changed as a loud yell was heard from behind the wall of gender, "ABROGATE CURSE!"

The shadow attempted to turn around but was instantly blinded by a massive sphere of blue light, quickly spanning across the entire chamber in seconds.

Laena and Faibel both covered their eyes, opening them after the light was gone, along with the shadow that trapped her father's soul inside.

She could see the remains of her father's silhouette, shining bright with a smile on his face as the wall shattered into pieces, emitting all the energy it had inside into Laena's c.h.e.s.t along with her father's silhouette.

Laena felt an incredibly warm feeling as all the energy entered her body, knowing how satisfied she was to see her father smiling once more.

After a few seconds, it became clear who cast such a deadly spell, the wall was shattered and the man originally standing behind it was none other than Calvin.

The marks on his neck glowing bright, eyes lit with anger, and an unconscious Leo carried on his shoulder as he walked forward.

"Professor!" Laena and Faibel shouted in unison, not seeing him as happy as they were.

"We need to find the others NOW! I'll deal with your punishment later for being here. Can both of you run?"

Laena nodded, letting go of Faibel resting on her shoulder to see if he can move as well. He stumbled a bit, but nodded, ready to leave once and for all.
