Adventures Of Bayek: Through The Void And Beyond

Benji's POV

So, I found this book and some pens at the old farm we used to stay at. So, I've decided to write in it. Being one of the youngest people in the group there's not much to do when the grown ups are off doing their own thing. But I do have Louis and Eliza to talk to. The Morales' decided to come with us to New Orleans. And I'm kind of glad they did.

We left the farm almost a week ago, our first stop was the blocked highway, Bayek had found some motorcycles he wanted us to use. He said that they would help us travel faster. The convoy was now led by three scouts, Hazel, Em, and Bayek, all riding motorcycles. Hazel liked to hang around Bayek a lot. I don't mind it much. I like Bayek, he can be an asshole sometimes, but he's really nice to me, unlike the other guys that my sister used to bring around.

The first car was a Humvee, followed by two LMTVs and then another Humvee. At first it was smooth sailing. The scouts would go ahead. And if the road was blocked, they would lead everyone on a new route before we got stuck, in what Bayek described as deep shit. This made the trip to Birmingham; our first stop, take longer than it was supposed to.

For the past four days, we've been stuck in Carrollton, Georgia due to the detours, and what Bayek call, "A complete and utter Shit show". Walkers, there was walkers everywhere. Bayek said the only way through is to fight. Unless the team wanted to go back through Atlanta.

Now I spend my days, on top of the building with a Bow and arrow picking of walkers with Eliza, and Louis. But it's easier than what the a.d.u.l.ts have been doing.

Third POV

Bayek in his people were using a warehouse as a base of operation. The warehouse was big enough to drive the vehicles into. This allowed them to fight with out losing all of their gear. The first thought should be resource sustainment, and the next should be survival. Without resources, there was no survival.

"Okay, I want some good news today. We've be battling these f.u.c.kers for days. If we want to break them up. Then we need to find the big guy in charge. He's either close or there's more than one. Based on the info you guys gave me there's gaps in the in the horde. Morales?"

"I don't know what to tell you Bayek. Kingsbridge, Lovvorn and Alabama street, is all backed up. The weakest point is Kingsbridge. But if we do that. All of us won't make it. But Mt Zion road is the only way to get to interstate 20. Which seems to be the most direct path to Birmingham"

"If we stay, those things will find us. They're already getting closer. We need to leave the vehicles behind and slip by on foot. It's the only way" Max gave his input.

"If we leave these trucks we die. That's not an option. We Wait and we keep scouting. Until we find away" That was the last thing Bayek said before he walked away from the table.

As he walked way, Max mugged his back. If looks could kill Bayek would have just been wiped of the face of the planet. Closing the door behind himself, Bayek sat in an office and read one of his books that he had took from the library, before leaving Atlanta.

"He's losing it... ever sense he got back from the FEMA camp, he's been slipping. Evolved walkers, communicating and plotting our destruction. Walkers eating each other. Come on it's horse shit and he's going to get us killed."

"I'm with you Max, just say the word and we can blow this shit hole" Mike backed him up

"Well good luck with that" Miranda and Morales walked away to go check on their children. While April and Hazel kept talking about locations on the map.

Gesturing to his brother, Max pulled Finn off to the side.

" We were wrong, we thought the guy was smarter than he really was. Now it's time for us to move on. Me, you, Em and Mike."

"Finn's eyebrows furrowed "What about April?" he asked

"She's not family anymore, Man. We need to start worrying about ourselves" Max replied. Finn just nodded his head in affirmation

"I'll think about it"

"Well think fast"

The group spent two more days scouting and gathering intel. It seemed like the variant was rather adept at hiding. But Bayek couldn't wait any longer to find them. He to keep on moving.

That night, Mike and Max decided it was time to leave. Earlier in the day they saw the gaps in the Hordes beginning to close. To them it felt like that was their only way. Quietly through the gaps, and on foot to avoid attracting the walkers. So, they packed their things and took some supplies before leaving in the dead of night.

"Are you just going to let them take that stuff." Finn asked

"Yes, they'll need it more than us. Are you sure you saw the horde coming our way?"

"Yes."

"Well, I guess Kingsbridge is the only way. Leaving our trucks aren't an option… I think I have a way. Let's get started"

Finn was prepared to leave with his brother. But he couldn't leave his wife. Who refused to leave April. Finn and Bayek spent the whole night pulling chemicals and mixing crude, volatile compounds. And the finishing touch, Bayek wired them all with C4 we had gotten from the CDC checkpoint.

"Do you think this will work?"

"I'm sure of it. Wake everyone it's time to leave."

Shortly after. Bayek and the Team placed all of the bucket bombs in the LMTV and left the warehouse. They took the gaps, that were rapidly closing between the hordes. Causing the to drive around for a bit hit whatever gap that was still open. The problem was that the trucks were loud enough to be heard at least two blocks in advance. This gave the walkers time on the blocks ahead, to block the path and slow them down. With enough bodies, it wouldn't take a big bump to tip the LMTVs over

"Speed up!" Bayek called over the radios.

"2 miles away!" Hazel called out

When they reached their mile mark. They all worked to down-load the Bucket bombs. Then drove away. 2 more blocks down the way. The team parked the vehicles.

"Hold it down! Finn, Hazel. Y'all ready?"

When Bayek got his response. The three head out on feet. Max got one thing right going on feet was the best way to go undetected. But the moment survivors let the horde compromise their assets, then Humanity will fall.

Weaving their way through the hordes, they began popping of shots, killing walkers and attracting attention.

"Im close to the check point." -Finn called on the radio

"Im here" Hazel radioed. Just when Finn and Bayek arrived with hordes behind them.

Bayek turned on a stereo that they had left on the explosives. When the music started playing the three of them smiled at each other and began to laugh

"Chocolate starfish and hot dog flavored water? I loved this album." Hazel said with a laugh

" Oh shit, you got taste kid" Finn chuckled

"I try, Bayek do you really want to blow up Limp Bizkit?"

Bayek opened the stereo and pulled the CD out. When the stereo played again Bayek smirked "How about Nickelback?"

"Hahaa Yeah!" The team shared a laugh as Bayek bent down and pulled up a manhole next to the Bucket bombs.

"Ladies first" he gestured. When it was time for Bayek to go down, gunshots were heard in the distance, and Bayek saw a group of people running and fighting off a horde and heading to the sound of the music.

"f.u.c.k it" he mutter to himself and closed the manhole. When he reached the bottom Finn and Hazel were already gone. Taking a Ka-bar knife Bayek stabbed it into a gas line, then ripped it out, causing the gas to leak.

Revolving his qi, Bayek shot of in the direction of the convoy. On his way he picked up Hazel and Finn. A timer on the Bomb bucket were ticking down.

Climbing out of the man wholes. The vehicles were started. And the team that stayed with the convoy were gunning down walkers, while they waited. It was an absolute war Zone, the kids were running Ammunition belts to Miranda and Morales, they both manned 240Bs, while April and Em were manning 50 cals mounted to the Humvee.

The moment Finn, Hazel, and Bayek arrived. The group pulled off in the direction of Kingsbridge Road
