Adventures Of Bayek: Through The Void And Beyond

Chapter 5 - Long Way Back: Katniss

On the road to the medical supply . It was getting close to midnight. We made a few stops on the way, collecting gas, food, and the little water we could find. But of course, when we hit the gas station, I grabbed boxes of rolling paper. Em laughed when she saw how excited I was.

Looking at the group I give them one warning "Smoke the cannabis but, If I find any of you getting high on the narcotics… That's a death sentence in these days." I smile to not give a pressure to tyrannical "come on. We need to where we are going, and then find shelter for the night."

The med supply was an easy hit. Not a lot of people think medical supply companies when looking for medical supplies, unless they work in the hospital or something associated with the medical field. Most people just hit pharmacies, clinics and hospitals. Taking surgical tools, bandages, and disinfecting chemicals. Anything that might be helpful in the apocalypse. With the Trucks parked in the loading bay, everyone turned in for the night.

I sent April back to her family, with the truck looked up tight, I had a better chance of dying in a truck explosion than getting my throat slit, and if the ran off with their truck. That also didn't matter, everything I wanted, I had with me.

It was daybreak, when everyone started to wake up. Looking out the window, I would be lying if I said I wasn't surprised the other truck was still there. However, when I looked out of the front wind shield, I was thoroughly annoyed. Crawling into the driver's seat, I Pick up the truck radio

"All you High-Speed f.u.c.kers wake up! We got some real Kinetic shit going out outside, and we need to haul ass! Let's Go, Let's Go, Let's Go!"

Giving them a few moments, I honk the horn, and everyone in the next truck starts to scramble.

I just shook my head and started the truck. The horde of walkers, about 50 yards away heard the horn and redirected themselves in our direction. But thee most wildest shit I saw, was April jump out the truck and run to mine.

I couldn't help but, palm my face. When she was in the truck we drove of and had to take the long way back to the survivors' camp.

"So, you couldn't stay in the other truck, when a horde of walkers were coming to eat us?"

April just looked at me "Well, Max said you probably didn't trust us yet and he didn't want any misunderstanding when we drove off, just in case…we got… split up"

"Hmm, sounds reasonable. So, you know any place to get meds around here. Like antivirals and antibiotics?"

"Umm, not really, Em and I just recently got transferred to zone 1, We actually live in the city" She said

"Oh okay, well I guess we'll just head back to camp for awhile until we find a new place to head to"

"Camp? You're with more survivors?" Her voice got a little high due to excitement.

"For now, I'm pretty sure those people are ticking time bombs. But I don't know honestly"

And that was the truth, I never saw the last episode of season one. That was the time I had left to go to boot-camp, but my drill instructor told be the CDC blew, The only place with food, guns, and hot water. Exploded. Because ran out of gas. I honestly didn't know who was more of a d.i.c.k, Shane or My Drill instructor for telling me the ending. Anyway, I went to my job school and got deployed after that, the last thing on my mind was the walking dead.

We stayed on the highway for awhile longer, until we took an exit back towards the city. Through the city we found a High school Senior with a bow and arrows, running with her little brother

"Bayek, did you see that?" Finn called over the radio

"See, what?" I feigned ignorance

"The woman and her little boy!"

"Nope, where were they?"

I didn't get an answer back from Finn after that. The second truck turned the corner and went after them. I had no intention of fighting a horde. But if I left them for dead. April would cry and then I'll have to leave her for dead. It was just to early in the game for so many human deaths at my hands.

Turning the truck around, I followed them as they led the way, two blocks down, the girl and ger boy was up against a wall being surrounded by Walkers. Everyone started shooting, recklessly I might add

"Shoot to the right of the horde, kill some, attract the others, and you don't to worry about killing the people in the process."

When the group shifted their firing, I went to the left and cut my way through. It was a small horde for a group of people with guns, but to big for two people to manage with one bow and a quiver of arrows.

Swinging my blades, I cut through in no time. When I finally laid eyes on the due, it was like lightning "Sup Katniss"

"Who?" she replied, confused and terrified by the situation.

"Badass fictional chick , that uses a bow and arrow. You look like her" I explained "Well come, unless you want to get left behind."

Once in the trucks was the worst part, all of the gunfire had attracted surrounding walkers, and we had to drive our way through, hoping not to be unfortunate enough, to run into something too massive.

It was late when we arrived back at the camp. I wasn't sure if we missed the attack or not. But I had to get my clothes and stuff I left with Amy, before left Atlanta. Picking up the radio, I sent a message to the second truck

"Always stay with the vehicles, don't let anyone know the contents of the trucks. And none of you are cops. We already have two at the camp and it might mess with the power structure. We don't do politics. We're a fighting-based squad. Just keep your heads down we'll be moving on soon"

The other radios back to voice their understanding.

Pulling up to the camp draws a lot of attention as the stop the trucks and get out. I tell my squad to hang back so, I can get things straight. The first to approach was Shane , when they seen me get out of the truck.
