Altora: The Chronicles Of The Ren-Ky Warriors

Chapter 52 - Ark 3: Fluttering Change part 1

Lovell walked down the halls in Fe Mor Castle with Kratos, heading to the training grounds. Lovell turned to his brother seeing his confidence and felt that he had lost his somewhere in the battle only six months ago, with the loss of Ark.

Kratos glanced over to see Lovell's eyes gaze to the floor. He stopped. "Lovell," Lovell looked back at him. "Are you going to be alright after what happened? If not, you should heal some more, or you will end up dead in this war."

Lovell gritted his teeth, closing his eyes, "I know that Kratos, and I also know that…" Lovell trailed off.

Kratos grabbed Lovell by the collar. "You are one of the Ren-Ky Warriors! Lovell, you need to pull yourself together, or else the world will fall into your bloody grandfathers' hands. Where the world will fall into eternal chaos!" Kratos bellowed at Lovell. Lovell could only turn his gaze away from him. "Look, Lovell, more than anything, you are the balance between good and evil. That there is a lot to take in, but we have been suffering while you have done nothing but run when you had set out to do the right things."

"Whole told you that?" Lovell melancholy asked Kratos.

"Grailla did, but besides that, Lovell, what is holding you back?" Kratos releasing his brother. "In the past six months, the others have grown in strength and skill, whereas for you? You never moved in those parts, not even in leadership?" Lovell's face grew cold, "Why are you not letting us help you overcome this?"

Lovell pushed him away, Luna as Luna walked down the hall. "Kratos, I…" Lovell gathered himself, "Before I met Scarlet, you know I was at…" Luna wisped behind a pillar. "at that fortress, but you don't know how they captured me so easily."

Kratos grabbed Lovell's shoulder, "Wait, you let them capture you?"

Lovell shook his head. "No, more like I got darkness fever…"

Luna gasped as she heard those words. Kratos whipped Lovell around. "Are you sure?!"

Lovell looked into Kratos's eyes, "Very sure, Ulva, someone from the spirit realm told me while I was knocked out by it taking hold." Kratos stepped back. "And I.." tears welling up, "I have no idea when I will lose to it and turn against Luna, even though…even though I love her since the day met her." Lovell clenched his c.h.e.s.t. "When I saw her, I felt like we were never separated twenty years ago. I think that we were meant to fall in love but, at the same time, be tortured to never be allowed to start a family."

Kratos grabbed his brother's shoulders once more, rubbing them. "Listen, Lovell, no one, and I mean no one has ever married a reincarnation of a God of any sort, but that does not mean you have to…" Kratos seeing Lovell's expression, sighed. "You have to give up on living, you' ll—no, we'll find a way to keep you on our side. No matter what happens, have hope."

Lovell grabbed his brothers' arm. "Thanks, please don't tell the others I just want them not to worry about me, with what has been going on as well."

Kratos pulled away from him. "I cannot promise that, but it might be wise that you tell them the part of the darkness fever, so they know what is going on if you do lose if any, control and be taken over."

Luna stood quietly as they walked off. Her heart aching from what she heard. She knew he was suffering, but she was not expecting that. She walked down the halls think over what Lovell had said.

Scarlet ran up to her. "There you are, Luna!?" She jumped onto Luna's shoulders. "What's taking you, Fang is getting worried, besides King Vial of the place is asking for all of us."

Luna turned to her, shoving her thoughts out of what she heard earlier. "Sorry, I was looking around a bit. Let's get going then, shall we?"

As they entered the throne room, Luna noticed Lovell beside Lance. She was worried but him and what he had said to Kratos. She then turned her attention to King Vail, his face stuff. "I thank you all for coming." His voice filled with concern. Everyone stared at him as he gripped his throne. "I have two things to say to all of you, the first is that…" His voice trailed off.

Gale walked to the middle of the room. "Your majesty, is something troubling you?"

Vail looked at Gale. "Yes, but it is not of your concern, young Prince Gale." Gale's face stiffened as he clenched his fist. "What I was going to say was that your training is coming to an end, and there is nothing left that my men could teach that you already know." Vail turned to Kratos. "Secondly, we have heard whispers from the boarders that the revolutionary forces within the Faremin Kingdom have begun to move."

Lance crossed his arms. "True, I have overheard from some of the other men that they are getting ready for something big. Do you know what it might be?"

Lord Vail shook his head. "I wish I knew, but alas, I do not know what they are thinking anymore since Gotama cut his ties almost eleven years ago." Lovell turned away, connecting the dates with Morris's death. "Besides that, little fact, they might be able to help you."

Zero stepped forward. "Really, then we can go see them and see if they will help?" Everyone in the room noticed he sounded of nobility or royalty. He looked around, "Did I say something funny?"

Vail laughed, "No, Prince Zero. I think they were shocked by how you sounded more royal than they are used too." Zero glared at everyone. The king coughed, gather everyone's attention back at him. "Well, anyway, it is not as simple as going to see Gotama. The man is ruthless, even for an elf."

Lovell walked to the center, standing beside Gale. "But we do know that he can help if we have the right connection or connection's?"

Vail leaned far back in his throne. "Yes, but our only connection is gone," Lovell gripped his hand. "And you knew him, Lovell." Vail staring at him. "Morris Silviano."

Everyone's eyes stared at Lovell. Fang ran up to him. "You knew Morris!?" He screamed at him, gripping his arm hard.

Lovell pulled away from Fang's grip. "Yes, I knew him." Tears streamed down his face, Fang only growling at him. "You were not there when he was killed or were raised by him. So do not say why did you not tell me."

Luna walked up to Lovell, placing her hand on his shoulder. Then Fang ripped her hand away. "Fang, what's wrong with you—"

Lovell snapped, succ.u.mbing to the darkness, attacking Luna and Fang with a wall of icy fire. Gale and Lance charged in to stop him, but Lovell blasted them back with a gust of wind. Luna stared at him, seeing his eyes narrow, and his expression became more sinister. Mama K ordered men in as Luna closed her eyes and walked through the wall of fire. Fang yelling at her to stop, reaching to grab her as Lovell began to turn his attention to Vail. Kratos readied himself as Luna moved closer. TO her, it felt as if time was moving slowly as she restrained Lovell.

"Get off me, you wench!" Lovell was no longer with her. He struggled to free himself as dark energy emanated from his body.

Kratos stared in horror, "Lady Luna, you must get away from him!" The word rang out from all her allies, but she gripped harder, as Lovell became more violent.

*Lovell, please come back. * Her thought rang out to him, as the world around her seemed to fade. Luna's desperation for the one who saved her and that she fell in love with, was being consumed by the dark lords' curse.
