An Innocent Heart Longing For Love

Shane closed his eyes, the anger he vented out earlier was dissipated, now it was filled with remorse. He stood in front of her with hesitation, 'Will she withstand the reality, the reality of her life was already a trial.

Losing her mother in a bomb blast and not even having a funeral for her and followed by that she lost her grandmother who loved her with all her heart. Will she endure the pain if I back off from the marriage?'

Truth is better than the lie she lived in.

After long consideration, he came to a resolution to reveal the truth to her.

"Anna!" Shane held her shoulders in comfort and continued, "I married you by my mother's force. I truly have no intention of marrying you or anyone."

Shane let Anna grasp the gravity of the issue. This was not her first time losing someone she loved so much. Her Mother, then her grandmother, now even the love of her life doesn't want her.

Anna's face paled instantly by the words of the man stood in front of her holding her shoulders in support. Her vision blurred and clouded with the past expectation and dreams. 

The boy that she loved so much and wanted to spend her lifetime with, now slowly disappearing as if a mist dissipate in the warm sun. If not for Shane holding Anna's shoulders in his arms, she would have dropped down like a fallen flower.

Not seeing through the transformation of Anna's emotional state, Shane proceeded, "You had a hectic situation by that time, You might be unaware of it. Rumors say that you hold the majority of the shares of Symonds Corporation.

But as far as I researched it is impossible, your grandmother lost her position as a CEO when the WILL was finalized. The current CEO holds 42% of shares and by no means, you can beat him.

But still your safety was in a question which is still a mystery to everyone of us and your marriage arrangements to Huo, were all but a scheme by your stepmother to keep you as a scapegoat."

"You were no longer safe in your own home and I had no intention of getting married.

To protect you and also for my sake, I married you.

Our marriage is just a paper marriage, You will be safe with me and In return, you need to act alongside with me as a couple in front of our family. So that, I will not be pestered by my mother anymore. And one more thing, we will be sharing same college. So, don't reveal our relationship to anyone there." Shane ended.

"Is that all?!" Anna's eyes welled up. "So?! Our marriage is nothing but a mutual agreement to resolve our problems?!" She smiled weakly.

Shane looked at her, "I helped you, Anna."

"You should have told me earlier, Shane! Least, I could have saved the heartache." Anna buried her face inside her hands. 'This is not true, this can't be true... This must be a terrible nightmare. Shane has no feelings for me?!'

Shane looked at the miserable state of the girl, his cold eyes melted, "I really wanted to explain everything to you but I couldn't. You fall sick on our marriage date. I could not tell you by then, because I - I was afraid that it will cause severe emotional trauma to you."

Shane recalled the day when the doctor informed them that she had Neurocardiogenic syncope due to severe emotional upsets or maybe due to fear. How he hid himself from Anna, spending days and days after in hotel rooms in fear of facing her.

How he made a desperate attempt in drawing a clear line between them.

Shane's ambitious heart warned him, he must never have a room for any emotional drama. Only thing that matters for him was to become a legend in the business world and rule it. 

He stood still watching the girl cry her heart out. 'I am sorry! I am sorry, Anna!'
