An Innocent Heart Longing For Love

The whole conversation with Anna didn't even last for five minutes yet it revealed so much of her former life.

"Hey, Snap out! What happened now?" Once after hearing Esther constant repetitive pestering sounds, A wave of irritation swept through Jacob.

He exclaimed, "What do you mean 'what happened now', you put the phone on speaker and clearly heard every word of Anna. Why are you asking me again?"

"Sorry! Chill out! It was like watching a perfect basketball match, now the ball is in your hand. I can't wait to watch your next move? So what are you going to do now, are you going to call Anna's aunt to inform or are you going to sit and watch Lulu's scheme to help you get Anna's hand?"

"Do I look like a pervert or a spouse poacher in your eyes? Everything I did was to give Anna a comfortable life. The life that she need not pretend to be someone she was not, The life that she was accepted by her man for who she was.

I know the real Anna, she was an outgoing girl, love to go for street dance and swear at people but in front of Shane, she portrays herself as an elegant and gentle girl, totally fake. However, I love her the way she was..." Jacob's voice trailed off.

Esther got bored by her little brother passionate talk, she moved slowly to occupy the seat on the sofa as she adjusted her bathrobe which she was still wearing.

Esther Intervened his talk, "You sound pretty confusing. So, are you going to call Shane or not?"

"What is the point in informing him now, the investigation has begun already, what good could he do now. Moreover, don't mention his name to me again, he slapped Anna, and I will never forgive him?"

"Fine! Sit back and watch Anna being tormented each day by her stepmother. I am going to get changed, What a terrible day!" Esther stopped on her track and turned back to question again, "By the way, Anna remembers only your number, how interesting?"

"What interesting? That saucy girl has the worst memory power, she easily forgets numbers. So I made up a fancy number especially for her to remember and bought the number later. Today, my efforts have served the purpose miraculously."

Esther pouted her lips as she retrieved back to her private room.

Jacob's hung his head low, once his sister was out of his sight. The touch he retained on his phone made him feel even more guilty, 'It is just a call, it won't kill me. It doesn't mean that I have surrendered to that insolent.'

Jacob unlocked the phone screen and checked the only photo of Anna which he had. It was the photo where Anna was sleeping peacefully next to him in the passenger seat and s.u.c.k.i.n.g her thumb harmlessly.

He rubbed the screen countless times. "I was too selfish and blind. I am sorry, I hurt you without knowing. I will cease everything I have started. But can I let go of you, I wish I could? I love you, Anna. I love you."
