An Innocent Heart Longing For Love

At Symonds Residence,

A knock on the door made Anna's heart quiver, her newly allocated room was positioned on the first floor and it made the situation even worse for her beloved half-brother to climb down safely.

Anna's head went dizzy when she heard the 'Click' sound on the doorknob, her little brother had not yet set his foot on the ground. What if stepmother caught Chris helping me in red-hand. Anna would not imagine the outcome.

The footsteps approached near her, yet her mind was so clouded to react to it.

"Anna?!"

Anna was startled when she heard the unknown bold man's voice rang not so far away from her. She clumsily turned back, her high heels tripped her, and her forehead hit the window panel not so heavy. Still, she stumblingly fell to the ground and lay there unmoving.

The sergeant who startled Anna ran hastily to her side to check, another man who accompanied the sergeant yelled at once, "Does she faint?"

Anna's eyelids fluttered open shortly but when she heard the cop's scrutinized word, she thought, 'Fainted?! Wow, that was not a bad idea either.'

As the plan emerged in Anna's mind, she carefully shut her eyelids before anyone could notice, she dared not to open her eyes after that, and continued to pretend that she truly was passed out.

"Madam! Madam!! Can you hear me! Oh no! Call the ambulance, her forehead is bleeding." The sergeant yelled as he delivered the commands to his men.

Few reporters who followed behind the cops instantly took photos of Anna and began live telecasting, "Anna was injured and the cops are taking her to the hospital. It looks like she has a panic attack."

Lulu who stood ahead of the reporters mumbled, "What panic attack? It was obvious that she stumbled and fell down clumsily."

The stretcher was brought immediately to the scenario, and they laid Anna carefully in the stretcher after giving her the first aid.

Christopher who was covered with little new bruises noticed the commotion going on in the first floor, his little brown eyes gazed at the direction and spotted a stretcher was carried downstairs.

Chris' eyes clung to the body which lay motionless in the stretcher, this was not his first time to watch his sister to be escorted unconscious. He felt worthless and inefficient to look after the person who loved him wholeheartedly.

His heart ached when he thought about how Anna cared for him. Never in a day, Anna would sleep comfortably when Chris falls sick. She would stand and wait for him even at odd hours. But whenever Anna was tortured by his mother, he would do nothing except to sit and watch.

Even as a kid, Chris felt miserable because of his incompetence to protect the person he loved. He ran to his sister crying, "Sister! Sister!! Someone save my sister!"

The doctor who checked Anna's condition squatted down to inform the boy who was crying his heart out, The doctor noticed that the boy was the only person in that scenario who looked worried and concerned about the patient, "Boy! Don't cry, Your sister is completely fine, she might have had a panic attack. After a small rest, She will be come back to see you and play with you. Are you happy now?"

Chris wailed, " NO! I don't want my sister to come back. Send her where she will be happy and smiling. I don't want my sister to come back."

As Chris wailed more, Lulu temper ran wild, "What nonsense are you talking? Go back to your room and stop talking like a nincompoop."

The sergeant who was busy beforehand halted when he heard the boy's talk, he promptly made a mental note of this boy's statement then he carried along with his duty to escort Anna to the hospital.

All happened in a flash, and finally, Anna was admitted to the hospital. She risked not to open her eyes being afraid of the investigation.

"Hmm... Strange! Her condition is stable yet she has not yet opened her eyes. Maybe, she needs some rest, Sergeant better not disturb her sleep. When she open her eyes, I will inform you and then you can continue with your investigate."

While Anna yelled in her head, 'No! No!! No investigation, tell him not to come back. Let me have some rest!'

The doctor added, "Sergeant! Ahhh... One more note, the patient was little dehydrated, I believe she had starved for a while."

Doctor note made Anna's heart race, 'What if the sergeant digs more which will make stepmother piss off. Why is this happening to me? Can't I delay it any longer.'
