Asgardian Sword God

Chapter 20 - Final test

Right after Kvasir told Vali and Runár the rules for this fight, which is basically summed up to not kill each other and fight for 5 minutes, the two immediately draw their weapons.

While Runár took out the axe from her back and hold it with both of her hands, Vali is holding a dagger in his right hand.

Seeing that the both of them are ready, Kvasir said, " Begin."

Immediately, like a bloodthirsty animal, Runár charged at Vali as she swings her axe a little backwards.

Staring at Runár as she is charging right for him, Vali could not believe his eyes. The beautiful woman who looks like she could not even hurt a fly turned berserk as soon as the fight starts. To him, her looks did not really fit what he had imagined her to be.

But, instead of dawdling around, Vali activated his sword skills and slashed out a wind blade using his dagger.

" What is this sh*t?" roared Runár.

Bang!

Runár strike at the wind blade to block it, immediately after it is hit, the wind blade disperses and vanish into the air.

Though Runár is weaker than Brunhild, due to the sheer weight of the axe and the fact that Vali did not put all he had in this wind blade like he had done previously with Brunhild, Runár could block it.

" You? Are you even a man? Stop standing so far away and fight me closely." shouted Runár as Vali attacked her projectile skill instead of fight in close combat.

Ignoring the provocation of Runár, Vali quickly formed about a hundred sword energy blade and sent it towards Runár.

Seeing the approaching blade, Runár uses the flat side of her axe and slammed down on the incoming blades.

Bang!

Right as Runár hit the ground of the stage, it shook a tiny bit. Since she had used the flat side of her axe and due to the enormous size of it, she escaped and destroyed almost a hundred of the energy blade. And those that aren't destroyed by the axe could not inflict any huge damage on her.

But Vali, not giving Runár a moment to breathe, swiftly send another wind blade towards her while he quickly created and combined the energy blades to form 10 greatswords. Then, he imbued the greatswords with his merged fire and ice devil fruit powers and sent the swords to entrap Runár.

Immediately after Runár blocked the wind blade, before she could take a step further, she is already circled by 10 bluish-green flaming greatswords that exude a cold and chilling air.

Curious as to what the swords could be, Runár let go one of her hand from the axe and poke the flame covered sword slightly with her pointer finger. As she had never seen such a thing like this, she did not want to completely touch it.

But, regardless of her carefulness, as soon as she comes in contact with the flames, she felt like she had touched ice. So, she quickly withdrew her finger, and when she stares at her pointer finger, instead of being frozen, her finger burnt a bit.

Although she knew that the swords are dangerous as she had come in contact with them, she did not dare to slash it.

So, Runár threw her axe up in the air and quickly jumped up after it to escape from the entrapment.

Anticipating this move, Vali then sends another wind blade imbued with his devil fruit powers towards the axe of Runár.

Right as the wind blade hits the axe, and the flame begins to cover the axe slowly as the wind blade continued on its path to fly and carry away the axe with it.

As the axe had flown away, seeing that Runár is unarmed, Vali dashed towards the freshly landed Runár and point the dagger at the face. Then swiftly drove his aura and Haoshoku Haki to make himself more intimidating and say, " Do you yield? "

Staring at Vali who is giving off a sharp and intimidating aura, as she is unarmed, Runár hesitatingly said, " I surrender. "

...

Kvasir, who is closely watching the battle is surprised not only at the result but the course of the fight itself.

He had specifically chosen Runár who is a Tier 2 high-rank warrior that could even win against some of the Tier 3 high-rank warriors to get Vali to be completely dominated in this fight and lose so that he would not need to grant him a request that could tarnish the prestige and integrity of Academy.

But, contrary to what he had predicted and believed, Vali was the one that completely dominated the fight and wins in the end.

This had shattered all of his logical and reasonable thinking. With the skills of Vali, although he had heard of it before, seeing them closely with his eyes as Vali manipulates some kind of force or energy in nature to create not only swords but a bluish-green flame out of thin air made him rethink everything and re-evaluate Vali entirely.

But, the true reason Vali won the fight is because although Runár is much stronger than him, due to him fully utilising his abilities and skills, Vali had won.

While Kvasir is wondering in his mind how things had gone completely wrong, Vali said in a loud voice, " Principal Kvasir, I have won the fight. "

With this, Kvasir quickly awoke from his trance. But, before he could say anything Vali continued, " So, will you now agree to my request? "

" I said I will consider it." replied Kvasir.

" You liar. Why are you trying to get out of this?" said Vali with an infuriating tone.

Kvasir sighed and then he said, " I haven't lied. Just follow me back to my office and then we will talk."

After saying this, Kvasir then approaches Runár and quietly said to her, " Thank you for agreeing to fight. "

" It's not a problem. If I had known that the fight would be so exciting, I would have fought him even if you hadn't invited me. Fighting him makes my blood boils " a grins forms on Runár face as she replied.

Hearing this, Kvasir sighs a bit in disappointment.

Runár was originally part of the Valkyrie and is one of the stronger warriors in the squad, but due to her brutish and bloodthirsty nature in battle, that made her unable to fight with others, she was sent to the Academy to help her learn while she cools herself off. Although she is strong, if she could not fight alongside others, she would put not only herself but her teammates in danger. And this fight is also actually a test for Runár made by Kvasir to see if she had actually changed and reformed herself.

" Anyways, go get some rest." Kvasir told Runár.

After this, Runár then begins to leave the stadium, as she is passing Vali, she turns to him and said as she smiles, " Let's fight again some other time. "

Hearing this, Vali could not properly wrap his head around it. Even though the unblemished looks of Runár would make one believes that she would not hurt a fly, her personality tells a completely different story. This completely baffles Vali.

Right after Runár left, Vali and Kvasir too left the stadium and went to Kvasir's office in the main building of the Academy.
