Beast Enchanter

Chapter 9 - What a bad Ancestor.

We walked over to the chief. The stone giants had said he had been ambushed while we were fighting much like we had thought although we weren't able to help him as we intended. They also told us it had been a tough opponent and that the chief had gotten injured, but he was fine.

He saw him resting in the cave as we got there. He was sitting by his fire like last time I glanced over his injuries right away, and the most noticeable things were that his left arm and his helmet were gone. There appeared to be a deep cut across his forehead, and his arms wound seemed to have already closed he probably used some magic.

It could also just be that the game made him better and changed it without me around. However, if I learned anything in my gaming experiences is that you should always try to look at it like they're not entirely NPCs and That they did something to cause the change. It's not an outcome set in stone like an old video game in the past. I've heard stories of NPCs pocketing players money secretly and getting out of town so they couldn't get it back in other games and man would that suck.

"Ah, chosen I trust the battle has gone well?" said the Chief looking up at me.

"Yes, although our reinforcement never showed up we were able to win still," I said.

"That is unfortunate, but at least there is still no casualties on our side however the wererabbits were able to achieve their goal and got the tribal key. I hadn't expected such a powerful foe to show up and attack me." said the chief remorsefully.

"That is not the best outcome for this battle. How did you lose it? I had thought you would be strong enough to fight even a warrior rabbit off." I said

The chief slowly respond. "Yes, although the main wererabbit army that attacked us was only a distracting for you and my brethren, they ambushed me when I had least expected it, as the battle was almost won and none had attacked thus far. They had been joined by the wererabbit lord and as powerful as he is he got a sneak attack on me taking my arm. He could have killed me if he liked but let me live only after taking the helmet which had the tribal key. I hadn't expected that he put such importance on getting these keys that he would personally show up so quickly."

So the wererabbit lord did show up. He hadn't just been commanding the army this time he leads the sneak attack. This means they have two keys and needs the last one.

"It would probably be in our best interests to join forces with the human in the north. I don't know what will happen when the wererabbit lord opens that door, but it's probably not a good thing right?" I said.

He answered."Yes, my thoughts exactly, although it was never recorded what is behind that door it was only foretold that only the chosen has the right to open it if anyone else was allowed to there would consequence, but first I should give you the reward I promised."

"You killed the general like I asked right?" he asked.

"Yes I did although I wasn't able to get his head like you had asked as he killed himself In a strange spell" I replied

[Mysterious vial of blood] -

Consuming this blood will cause you to stop bringing fully human but it unknown what you will become as this is unidentified.

So there are things like this huh I should at least wait for Elise she pretty smart maybe she will know what it is.

"This was found by one of our chieftains of the past, but we kept it as we never had a use for it, but I hope you will find a better use for it, chosen," he said

"Yes I don't like taking to big of risks so I won't use myself for now, but I might still find a good use for it thank you," I said gratefully.

I had high hopes for this vial although I don't wish to use it without finding out what it is.

"I am just glad you are happy with it as I have nothing else to offer chosen but now that I have given the reward you deserve, let's us return to the main point. You will you go to the humans and speak of the treaty It will need to be done as fast as possible before the wererabbits attack them I will get all my brethren ready and head to the north to join the humans although it will leave my young unguarded I feel like I have no choice," he said

After I finished talking to the chief, I turned to Silica who had been standing to the side the whole time, and I asked, "Silica are you coming with me or you waiting for Elise?"

She said"I'm going to wait for Elise I need to tell her what's going on and that we need to head north with the giants. I still need to give you some training as I promised, but it will have to wait until after we have finished gathering our forces but don't think I'll be easy just because of what's happened."

"Ya, I think I would prefer it that way. Easy is no fun anyway." I said

"Your not bad, for a human," she said looking away.

After that I left and headed for the north I hope the wererabbits won't attack before we get a chance to get all together. On the way, I checked the Boots that I had arrived.

I went ahead and equipped it, and the agility bonus helped speed up the time it took for me to make it to town which was nice. After I got to town, I figured I should talk to the town chief first. I went through his wife and met him at the table just like last time.

"What brings you here chosen? I assume things are going well in your travels." said the chief

"Not really things are getting a bit hectic, but I came here because I needed to know if you have the Tribal key," I said

Shock colored his face.

"How did you find out about that chosen?" he stuttered in a loud voice.

"I found out through the wererabbits there after the tribal keys. They have already taken the tribal key from stone giants your is the only one they need now. The stone giant have agreed to ally with us and are heading with there army to come to join us now." I said

"Thi..this is a bit..." the chief stuttered with an embarrassed look on his face.

A confused look flashed over my face, and I said, "Is there a problem?"

The Chief sighed and said"No, no I was just overwhelmed for a second and… th, the truth is my ancestor lost the tribal key a long time ago..., so I have no idea where it is. The wererabbits could already have for all I know. "

"What! How could he lose something like that…" I yelled but quickly calmed down.

I should have expected something like this but this is bad I thought we were going to have the advantage with having that key and being able to defend it, but now we don't even know if the wererabbits already have it or not.

"How did he lose it?" I said lightly sighing.

"Well while it's shameful for me to admit my ancestor was a bit of a problem child he wasn't supposed to even have the key on him when it happened," he said.

He took a deep breath as he prepared to explain."It goes like this, my ancestor was not a good person and was always forcing himself onto other women. The father of that ancestor was powerful so no one would do anything against him for fear of his wrath but one day while he was in action with an unfortunate woman. The house he was in started to burn down they had noticed late so to get out they ran outside without grabbing their stuff… the Tribal key included, but he wasn't foolish as he knew that it was important which is why he liked to carry it around. Afterward, he told his father which came with severe beatings, and then they searched around what was left of the house, but they couldn't find the key. We have been searching none stop for the key since but we have found no trace of it."

Sounds that the classic shitting son but amazing farther.

"Have you ever searched all the townspeople seeing if it got stolen by them?"

"Yes, the father of that ancestor had put a notice that something important was stolen from our family and would reward its return. They also thoroughly searched every person in town there house's included but found no trace of it in their belongings" he said.

"At least it doesn't sound that bad It could just be in the hands of a commoner, and you missed it in the search and although we don't know where it is I don't think it was the wererabbits that had stolen it. Even so, we can't risk it. They might not have it, and so that means when our reinforcement arrives we're going to have to attack before they're able to open the door."

"Yes… your right. *Sigh*, why did I have such an ancestor..." said the chief

I felt bad for the chief a bit as he was a pretty good guy compared to his ancestor and now we're dealing with his problems but this was all made up by that god, and I'm pretty sure the chief is one of the illusions. I think the ones that have a name are are people from the real world so I will meet them again, but that's just my assumption as Paul and Jessica don't seem as real as Silica and Elise, but that's a problem for another day.

"Well, it can't be helped since we can't do anything about it thanks for letting me know I need to go speak with Paul and Jessica about the reinforcements that are coming so have a good day chief," I said as I got up to leave.

The chief didn't have anything to add he just had this pained look on his face as I walked away. I then made my way to the fields. The first thing I noticed is all the wererabbit bodies lying around as it seems like they had a battle not too long ago. I wonder why they're still attacking could it be they don't have the tribal key?

Jessica and Paul were at the table like last time although they had some blood on their armor this time.
