Chapter 14 - peter- Part 2

"W-Wha y-ye dng…" I struggle to speak as his grip tightens.

"Stop talking!" He growls, his eyes ice-cold. His eyes hold mine and the temperature around us falls by several degrees. The pain grows and I'm forced to close my eyes.

My fingers curl around his arm capturing my neck and I dig my nail into his skin.

Wow, what an effort.

Oh, shut up!

But then after some time I realise this will only end up in me destroying my newly manicured nails so I stop. I stop struggling.

He lets me go abruptly and I stumble almost landing face-first on the hard porch floor. I cough and rubs my fingers gently over my neck. He almost killed you! He almost KILLED you! I wipe the couple of tears which had managed to escape my eyes while his dangerous assault on my delicate little neck.

"That should help in keeping your mouth shut. Or trust me I won't hesitate to rip your tongue off!" his voice is like sharp ice shards to my ear drums, making me flinch with every word he utters. But even though I distinctly remember what I went through seconds ago, his threats seem empty. Somehow I know he wouldn't do that. Hmmm, strange.

So all I do is roll my eyes at him and press my lips together in a thin line. I head to the entry of the house. The double door has carvings so intricate and exquisite that I'm certain it is a work from the 18th or 19th century craftsmen.

"Go on." Nick says, a curious look surrounds his face as he signals me to open the door and enter the house. Potted plants line the front porch and odd looking bright purple flowers hang from the wall which holds the door. Strange.

This might be a trap, Diana.

Shut up! I'm trying not to look frightened here and you're clearly not helping!

Suppressing the urge to gulp, I wrap my fingers around the door knob and turn it. With a gentle push the door opens. I look at him, his face has a curious expression, like he's expecting for something to happen. My heartrate picks up pace.

"Enter." He commands.

My feet move involuntarily, obeying his command. I find myself standing in a dark hallway with wall lined with various portraits, probably of the people who lived in that house. How did that happen?

With widened eyes, I hold my breath. One second, two, three… Nothing happens.

He gives a curt nod and enters the house. Turning behind, he smirks and replies, "Maybe I won't kill you so soon." I'm left standing all confused. I gaze ahead and realise he has vanished. A shiver of fear runs down my spine.

Still don't think you should be scared?

I don't know.

Shaking my head, I take a step forward just when I feel a weird sensation near my neck, right over my birthmark. Like someone is breathing, standing really close to me. I twirl around on my heels really quick but find no one. The door closes automatically making a creaking noise which totally scares me. I'm convinced that this house is haunted. Gulping, I turn around and quickly sprint down the dimly lit hallway into a room which is comparatively better lit.

Sighing, I walk forward with my eyes still glued on the hallway I'd just surpassed. I bump into something… uh- into someone. I really need to see where I'm going! I stumble forward but whoever it is I bumped into quickly catches me and prevents me from bruising my arms and face.

"You're okay?" asks a genuinely concerned masculine voice. I raise my gaze to see who it is and my eyes widen.
