Chapter 36 - inrupit venae.

Peter and I entered entered the living room just when Samuel was asking Nick about Penelope.

"She's staying over at her friend's house today. She says she has missed a lot of college work." He finished with a frown.

"Hello boys." Peter interrupted their conversation with a lot enthusiasm in his voice.

Nick turned his neck sharply towards Peter and his brows furrowed, "Finished learning all the spells? It's been only six hours since y'all began." His eyes moved from Peter to me and I saw a muscle in his jaw twitch.

Folding my arms I scoffed, "Like that isn't a quarter of the day."

Peter explained; trying to avoid a further discussion, "That's enough learning for today. There's a certain limit upto which one can practice witchcraft in a day. It's exhausting."

"I told him I feel enthusiastic, ready to learn a couple more spells but he insisted on stopping." A frown formed on my face.

"She's not tired but I am." He stretched his arms pretending to be exhausted which he clearly didn't appear to be.

There was nothing exhausting about learning witchcraft really. I had enjoyed every second of the six hours I'd spent doing things I never thought I could do, even in my dreams.

Peter passed me a compliment every five minutes about how I could perform some spells better than him. I danced on the inside but only gave me a cute smile on the outside.

Samuel got up and spoke in an anticipated tone, "So show us what you learnt!"

I clapped my hands together, "Okay, watch this " and opened my palm, holding them at my waist's length.

"Incendio!" I mumbled and on both my hands appeared red flames burning brightly, not just bringing more light but also warmth into the cold room. My smirk grew wider just as Samuel's eyes widened. Peter bore a proud-teacher smile but Nick had a not-at-all-surprised blank expression.

"Cooool… well hot actually!" whistled Samuel, causing my cheek to heat up slightly.

The stupid vampire interrupted, one of his eyebrow raised by half a milimeter, "I could just light a match instead."

I glared at him and closed my palms making the flames vanish into nothing. I held a hand out towards my right, watching him with a smirk, I muttered, "Accio knife!"

A knife came flying out of the kitchen. It almost looked like it would get jabbed into my abdomen but I held it in mid-air with a sharp movement of my arms. Samuel applauded, Peter grinned and Nick stood watching the scene like a statue.

"Sam? Here, take this," I said passing the huge knife towards Samuel with confidence in my eyes, "and when I say try to stab me."

"What? Er- Are you sure?"

"Positive. Now." Peter held his breath knowing this was a difficult defensive spell which required a lot of focus and accuracy in hand movements but he was confident in me; his new student.

Just as the knife was about to get thrusted into my abdomen, I traced both my arms in air, forming an invisible circular shield with a golden rim as I muttered, "Protego!"

The knife hit the invisible shield and shattered into a million pieces, falling to the floor softly.

"That's amazing!" squealed Samuel.

Assuming that the magic show was over Nick walked towards me, clasping his palms together he spoke, "Well Taylor," I flinched at the way he said my surname, with so much disgust in his voice, "you see the person who might attack you someday won't take your approval before driving the knife through your body like he did. You have to be quicker than that to beat a supernatural being."

I had saved the best for the last, this one to test especially on him.

Time for revenge on the stupid, evil, bad, disgusting vampire! Get ready to scream, Nicholas Black.

"Oh, I'm sure you'll be impressed with this one," I replied proudly, holding my right palm ahead, "Inrupit venae!" I muttered mercilessly while my fingers curled inwards.

"AHHHHH!" the agonising screams echoed in the huge room
