Chapter 35 - levitation charm.

"Did you or did you not understand when I said we don't have much time, Samuel? Or do you want to try a hand at magic too?" barked Nicholas as he stood, one hand on the ancient doorknob, waiting to exit the room.

Samuel began with a nervous grin, "I thought maybe I could stay… watch them perform spells?"

"No. It's feeding time. Besides we have important matters to discuss about."

Feeding time?

"Alright." Samuel sighed and mouthed an 'all the best' to me before leaving the room.

I passed him my sweetest smile.

I examined the warlock's room. There were many thick, old books with tattered edges that were spread across the room. Various jars of all shapes and sizes contained liquids of all beautiful colours. I spotted a jar which was labelled 'Veritaserum'. A truth potion, I remembered.

Wiggenweld… Polyjuice…

I moved to the next shelf which was titled 'Herbs'.

Fluxweed… Knotgrass…

"Ahem… I'm Peter Bailey, warlock of the Bailey coven. I think I should introduce myself properly." I turned around to look at the person who'd just activated my witch powers and told her me that I probably possess a special power.

"Diana Taylor." I mumbled and turned my eyes once again towards the shelves.

"So should we begin?" he asked.

"What?" I had heard his question but was fascinated with almost every object in the room.

"Diana, hey? Look, I know you probably don't know much about what's going on-" He began but I cut him off.

"Yes, I don't."

He seemed to have been taken by surprise because there was silence for a long period before I broke it, "You said I knew I could trust you. How? I was panicked and er- afraid but you told me to calm down and I did. I knew I could trust you. I don't understand. I don't understand anything." I shook my head.

I continued, "What am I doing over here? I should be in my apartment right now with my best friend, crying over my recent breakup with a guy I thought I was in love me. I'm supposed to have a normal life and here I am. I am a... I'm a witch. And you are a witch-"

"A warlock actually." He interrupted me but I ignored him.

"And there are two vampires out there. What is happening... Is this a dream? A nightmare?" I could feel the tears threatening to spill out of my eyes, "Are you going to hurt me?"

Peter walked towards me and rested one of his hand on my shoulder, "Hey, calm down. It's okay."

"It's not okay! Nothing's okay!"

"I'm sorry that you have to got through this but trust me you're the only one who can help us. You're the only witch in the town. I promise once we are done dealing with this situation, we'll let you go." He sighed.

I took a deep breath and counted to three. Calm down... Calm down. Everything going to be fine.

"Okay, that's good. You want to see something amazing?" He questioned with a hopeful smile on his face and I just raised my eyebrow in confusion.

He removed a tiny container from one of the dusty shelves and poured some fine crystals from it on a table. "Come, sit over here." I did.

He hovered his palm over the coloured crystals and muttered, "Wingardium Leviosa."

The crystals began to move to much of my surprise. He raised his palm higher and then I saw the tiny particles float in mid air! An involuntary smile spread across my face. "That's actually amazing." I exclaimed.

"It's a levitation charm and it's one of the easiest spell. I learned it in the first grade," I wondered why he was giving me this information but what he said next absolutely amazed me, "I think that's the first spell I should teach you."
