Born As A Senju In Naruto

Chapter 7 - Surgery and Dreams - pt. 2

"The worst part is if someone separates us, you will die." Kokuo continued to explain.

"I see," Hikari said quietly, contemplating on the last part. She knew she had a tailed beast sealed into her due the agreement with the goddess, but other than that, she knew almost nothing else. It was quite shocking to realize she'd die if he were to gain the freedom he obviously wanted. She may not have anything else to go by information wise, but she remembered the whole reason she wanted a tailed beast. After spending a while in her thoughts, she spoke up louder this time, "Say, would you be my friend? Then I can come talk to you whenever I want, and maybe we can even find a way to let you out... Even if it's not true freedom, at least you could stretch your legs a bit."

"Hmm, it is true I cannot separate from you without you dying, but as my Jinchuriki you do have the ability to let me out somewhat." Kokuo reveals to her. "And yes, I will be your friend."

"Excellent," she says and then, in her haste, stumbles as she walks forward, almost falling. "Crap, I forgot I can't see anymore. Do you know why I suddenly can't see even here, what's effectively inside my own head?"

"Not really, but if I had to guess, it's because you've never seen what I or this place looks like, for that matter. Plus, the inner world might just be reflecting your outer self, which is blind." Kokuo answered to the best of his ability. He was also wondering how someone could be blind in what equivocally amounts to a dream.

"Right, not the best answer out there, but I guess I'll have to make due. Let me know if I'm heading in the right direction, will you?" Hikari says as she starts making her way slowly to where she thought Kokuo's voice was coming from. Doing a surprisingly good job, she heads almost in a straight line to the cave.

"You're a little off to the left, but what are you planning to do?" Kokuo ask quizzically.

"I'm not entirely sure," she replies, almost wistfully, as she adjust her direction and reaches the entrance of the cave. Reaching out, she felt a gate and slid her hands across, moving until she found the seal she had expected to be there. "Here's to hoping this works," she says as she focuses on her tiny left hand and slams it into the entrance. She turns her small hand counter clockwise a quarter turn and pushes in. She then turn half a turn clockwise and pushes the seal in further before suddenly twisting hard counter clockwise and releasing her hand."

The seal spun as it released itself. The entire mountain and gate that were there dissipated into particles of energy. Feeling that it had worked, Hikari stepped back and smiled, thinking, 'at least the goddess doesn't do anything in half measures and remembered to give me the way to unlock it.' She proceeded to collapse as a wave of exhaustion hit her.

Kokuo looked down at the child who did more than anyone else ever had for him. "Thank you, Hikari," he said, using his tails to catch the girl before she fell on the ground. He lifted her up to his back and placed her there. "Rest well and recover."

Danzo was leaning back in his chair when the man he'd sent out earlier came back. "Is it done? How did it go?"

"Hai, Danzo-sama, it went well. She believed the report and successfully performed the transplant, not even questioning why that particular color was available," the masked man reported.

"Good, that Kumo nin was truly a blessing in disguise. It would have been almost impossible to get this done otherwise. In fact, it makes it much better that she did it herself," Danzo answered, mostly musing to himself. "Make sure to monitor her for the next few years and never let her leave your sight."

"Hai, Danzo-sama," the masked man replied before leaving.

Meanwhile, watching everything unfold, a certain mischievous goddess was looking highly excited, a smile beginning to bloom across her face. Everything had finally been set in place on her end and now she got to just enjoy the show and make small ripples as wanted. It had taken a lot of subtle manipulation on her end, poking and prodding people in certain directions--even going so far as to leak some information to get it to this point. But, it was going to be worth it.

The hardest part was, arguably, getting that woman pregnant in the first place. If that man hadn't been there, it might have become an insurmountable task. Any harder and she might've personally peaked to see if the woman wore a chastity belt. Han dying early and leaving Kokuo to rampage in a certain direction was easy enough. The eyes were even simpler. She merely played two men with already insanely high d.e.s.i.r.es to get it done. One thing she was proud of was that she'd done it in a way that wouldn't cause complete bedlam since the eyes would only work or fail specifically for Hikari.

The best part of it all was that the soul she'd re-birthed completely mucked with her ability to see events play out ahead of time, if it involves the soul's new form. For example, this meant that she knew the eyes wouldn't work for others, as she'd seen them attempt to transplant them in others only for them to be normal eyes. But for Hikari, the eyes would either hit or miss. In some instances the eyes gave unique properties and yet in others they did little more than give her heightened visual acuity. She honestly couldn't say especially when Hikari managed to talk to Kokuo a full 8 years before the earliest seen time she'd glimpsed. This was definitely going to be fun to see.
