Born As A Senju In Naruto

Chapter 8 - Five Years Later

"Oi, Hikari, wake up," Kokuo prodded Hikari.

"Nnn, five more minutes," She said as she rolled over.

"No. You need to get up soon, or your mom will personally come to wake you up.. again," Kokuo said with a shiver remembering the last time Hikari tried to sleep in.

At the mention of her mother, the eight year old snapped awake and quickly jumped out of bed, throwing her clothes on as she went. She was wearing her usual black pants that came down just below her calves and a black shirt with a light purple jacket that had fur lining. As she passed by the mirror, she stopped and looked at her appearance. She had a small nose and big crystal blue eyes with full lips. Her hair was like her father's, spiky and white, except she kept hers short, and ever since the incident, had a slight tinge of blue to it. To be honest, she felt she looked like a pixie. As she stared at her reflection, her eyes squinted. She cursed the goddess for going overboard. It was almost like she was trying to make it harder for her to live a normal life, which, to be fair, was the goal. A couple years back, Hikari had finally pieced together what the deal was, and as a result managed to speak to the mischievous goddess for another, albeit brief, moment.

Apparently, the real deal was to allow her to do things that could cause Hikari "headaches", for lack of a better word. They weren't anything life threatening directly, but it was always troublesome when she interfered. Sometimes, though, the end results were worth it--but only sometimes. There were actually only a few issues that were actively still affecting her as a result of the goddess's tampering. The first issue, which caused her a bit of heartache at first, was her gender. She kept making situations around her awkward that shouldn't have been otherwise due to her reflexive actions to a situation. Fortunately, a lot of the time it just played out as her just being extremely shy about certain things. Also, she thanked whatever powers that exceeds the goddess's that she didn't inherit her father's pension for getting a nosebleed when blood rushed to her head. Her second issue was technically her own fault. She'd asked for a tailed beast partner. The goddess just had to choose the most stubborn village to effectively steal it from.

Her mother had played the entire issue off as the fault of Iwagakure. She spread the fact that they'd failed to contain it and allowed it to rampage all the way into another country. She pointed out that when she had subdued it; none of Iwakgakure's ninjas were around to take over. So she did the next best thing and sealed it away for the "safety" of everyone around. This allowed the Hokage to get the other kages to pressure the Tsuchikage, which was quite effective since Konohagakure had neutral relations rather than hostile relations with the other villages. Kumogakure might have done something to act out, but since they hated the Iwa with a passion, they adamantly supported Konoha. Then, to make things strange, the old fence sitter of Iwa actually said they could keep it since it'd be amusing to see what happens. She had a strong suspicion this was the goddess trying to smooth things over a bit, but I have no proof. So now she was more or less the legal Jinchuriki of the five-tail since Iwa wouldn't try to assassinate or kidnap her to get it back.

Her final issue came from the night of the Hyuga incident, which Neji's father took the fall for. Her mother did such an immaculate job healing her that no evidence was left of her being harmed in the incident after her original eyes and clothes had been disposed of. This allowed the Kumo to shove the entirety of the fault for the death of their head ninja onto the Hyuga clan, which resulted in Neji's father taking the fall. The eyes her mother had transplanted were special. They were the crystal blue color of her original eyes, but then a couple of days ago, Naruto had been completely beaten up saving Hinata from bullies. They even destroyed the scarf his mother had left for him. In her anger she had beaten up all three bullies as they ran off. It wasn't until she got home that she noticed her eyes had changed. Her eyes had turned red with with each eye possessing a single tomoe. She panicked at first until her eyes went back to normal. She could not let anyone know about the eyes as they were supposed to belong to the Uchiha. She remembered the second conversation with the goddess at that moment and how her parting words were about the eyes and hoping she enjoys them. Cryptic, but she knows the goddess had something to do with it now.

"HIKARI!!" her mother shouted from the dining room area, breaking her thought process. "You better be getting ready!"

Hikari ran her fingers through her hair, smoothing it some as she called back, "Coming!" She ran to the dining room and grabbed some food. "Bye mom! I'm going to be late -- I'll eat as I walk."

"You'll wait for me. I'm coming with you," Tsunade called as she followed her daughter out the door.
