Once Frank got home and freshened up, he informed his girlfriend.

This time, they upgraded from texting to a voice call.

"Did you notice our date today?" Flora asked with glee.

"No, did you fart?"

Flora was left speechless. Seeing her not replying, he sighed.

"It was a joke."

"Tsk tsk. Such a dry joke. I meant the places we went to."

"We ate, drank, and talked."

She rolled her eyes, even though he couldn't see.

"I picked you up at the clinic, we went to get dessert at the coffee shop, and we got closer at the library."

He finally noticed and let out, "ah ah. Our three meetings." He laughed heartily.

"I have such a thoughtful girlfriend."

She felt proud hearing him say that, "yes, you do." She thought about something and quickly followed up, "what are you going to do about Clara?"

"Nothing. She's going to complain to her mom. Her mom will complain to my mom. My mom is going to tell me to be nicer to her."

"You'll be nicer to her?"

"Well, I'd just have to imagine her as a 5-year old at that point."

He said it so 'frankly' that Flora couldn't stop herself from laughing.

"Your laughter is beautiful."

"Well I'm glad I have a boyfriend who compliments me well."

"Because of my work, we might not get to spend a lot of time on dates. Are you okay with that?"

Flora sighed. It was one of the things she considered also.

"No matter. We just started, we can't be worrying about things now. We'll adjust as we see fit."

"Okay girlfriend. You have classes tomorrow. Sleep well."

"You too boyfriend."

...

It was just as Frank had said. Although they talked each day, they had their dates on weekends when Flora volunteered.

He also followed through with his sequence. The next time the couple met, he held her hands. They walked through the hospital gardens together getting along happily.

The next time, Frank picked her up from home for an amus.e.m.e.nt park date. He alighted from the car and gathered Flora into his arms. He whispered softly, "I've been wanting to do this since you walked in the room that day. Your presence is very calming."

She was delighted when she heard that and hugged him back. He was a head taller than she was, so she could hear his heart beating. This man was hers, she thought to herself.

Now, it was their third date. They chose to watch a movie together, but that wasn't what Flora was giddy about.

Third date meant first kiss. Why did he have to announce everything? What was she to do? How was she to respond?

"There's someone in the family who can help you, you know?" Seraphina announced as she looked at her best friend who was losing it.

"Granny Janet!"

Speak of the devil, and the devil appears.

"Hi girls!"
