Carnage In Another World

Chapter 21 - rules

Adrian had went down stairs at guild hall to Martin, directly after waking up. "Want to ask you a question," he stated.

"What might that be?", Martin asked in response.

"How do demons enter this world? Do they just pop into existence, or are they created?", Adrian asked earnestly.

Martin was thrown into a stupor. This was the last question he thought he would hear from young man. "You mean to tell me you do know such basic knowledge, were you born in a cave?"

Embarrassed by this Adrian lowered his head, "Actually I'm from a very remote part of the world. We have not known that demons even existed, until recently that is." Adrian rubbed the back of his head as he spoke, trying to come up with what he thought was a good lie.

[How far must one live to not heard of demons until recently] Martin thought, he was still reeling in shock yet he says this. [To not see demons until recently is a miracle, his home town must have not gotten attacked.]

"Okay so here are the basic rules of demons," Martin said grandly. "Rule one: demons are unique if you see more than one with the same appearance, then there is a brood mother, which must be killed without exception.

Rule two: Don't eat the flesh of demons. It is extremely poisonous, and on the slim chance you survive -keep in mind very slim- you will become a grotesque beast just like the creature you ate, mindless, and aggressive.

Rule three: If you see a demon that looks somewhat human, run away, run as fast as you can. Those are rank A demons or higher. Get to you nearest guild hall and report as soon as possible.

That last one rule three is the most important one of all, understand just one rank A. Demon can destroy this whole town by its-self, we wouldn't even know what killed us. Do you understand?"

"Yes, I understand. And who would even eat demon flesh that's disgusting?" Adrian scrunched his face in disgust at the thought. [What part of a demon even looks remotely edible] he could not understand such thoughts.

"I agree, with you there. There have been cases though." martin shook his head" for a while demon flesh was used as poison, because even a demons blood is poisonous."

"That's terrible!" Adrian gasped.

"Though there have not been many cases, for a few years." martin told him.

"That's good news at least" Adrian said in relief.

Adrian had gotten quite a few answers to the questions he had. This exchange was very informative, his curiosity quenched for the time being.

After finishing his conversation with Martin he went to look for Elain. He assumed she would be at her house, so when he left the guild hall that is where he headed.

Passing through the gates, he walked up to the door and knocked.

Moments later Jamie, Elains young maid, opened the door. "Yes, how can I help you?"

Adrian handed her the money and said," please give this to Elain at your convenience. It her share for the hunting trip."

"Thank you, I will let her know when I can." Jamie said as she accepted the money.

Adrian simply nodded in response before turning to leave.

[So he is the guy the young mistress is enchanted by] she thought to herself [interesting]

Elain was currently sitting on her bed, brushing out her recently washed hair. The morning sun was shining brightly through the cracks between the curtains. The glimmer of light reflecting off her hair, would give someone the feeling of staring at a goddess.

Suddenly, a gentle tapping at the door.

"You may enter," Elain said, as she turns towards the door.

When door opened up, a small head popped through. "Miss, Adrian came by, and asked if I would pass this to you." Jamie said as she handed the pouch over to Elain, "he said it's your half from the hunting trip."

Elain stowed the pouch away, in a nearby drawer, without bothering to look count it. "Thank you Jamie, you can go now." Elain said, with a pleasant smile, as she continued brushing her hair.

With a quick nod Jamie, backed out of the room, before shutting the door behind her. She giggled to herself as she skipped down the hallway.

Walking out of the market place Ferrum, had a large smile on his face. He had just bought himself a new suit of armor. His last one got mangled in the battle with the brood mother.

By this time Ferrum had gotten used to his metallic arm, he was quite pleased with in fact. He could move it just as well as the original one, only he could exert much more force through it.

"Almost glad I got my arm ripped..... almost," he said. A hint of melancholy was etched on his face. Even though he enjoyed his new arm, he could not help but feel down about his old one.

"Hum.. I guess ill go see what's going on at the guild." he thought out loud, as he walked down the street in large strides.
