Carnage In Another World

Chapter 3 - 3: the Road to Faldor

After leaving the village of Thoma, Adrian continued walking down the dirt road leading out of the village. there were oddly shaped trees that dotted the hillside around the road and he admired them as they were rather strange. It seemed as though this world was currently in the late summer season as the leaves on the trees were starting to change colors to a yellow/orange-ish color. Although there was no sign of the leaves having started to fall from there perch on the branches of the crescent shaped trees.

He had decided to continue down the path, and ask for further directions if ran into someone on the road. He noticed that the road seemed to be traveled rather often, as there was very little grass patches along the roadside. While walking along and entertaining himself with the new and majestic scenery of this new world he had been thrust into.

"I need to learn more about this world, I feel like an infant who has yet learn how to walk." He mumbled to himself. [ It all still feels like and illusionary dream I could wake up from at any time...I've been walking for quite a while now...] suddenly his train of thought got derailed as he heard a loud explosion, that was coming from further down the road. As he turned past a thicket of trees that was blocking his view, the scene entered his line of sight.

A group of three people, two knights and a mage, where fighting a grotesque looking monstrosity. It was only about four feet tall, but it's figure was revolting. The creature had the mandibles of a large ant, but its eye sockets were protruding from its head like a snail. Its torso looked as though it was stripped bear as one could see the flesh and bone through its transparent skin. Its arms were hairy and covered in muscles like the arms of a full grown gorilla. The lower section of this Abominations body was that of a large spider, accept it only had four legs instead of the common eight. The hair on its lower body looked like the spines on the back of a hedge hog, which one could assume would definitely draw blood if they pricked your skin.

The first knight was wearing a polished bronze armor, that gleamed brilliantly in the sun light. While he carried a two-handed axe with a wooden handle. He slashed his axe foreword glancing off the spines on the lower body of the demon, doing no apparent damage at all.

At this time the mage in this group, a tall, thin, and beautiful woman with long red hair and green eyes, mumbled some sort of incantation. She released a fire ball aimed at the monsters face. It was a direct hit, and the eyes of the beast turn to ash in an instant.

"Eeeeekkkkkkssssss..s..s.s.s..." The creature wailed as it had been blinded and began to flail around in agony. In its anguish, it slammed its body into the first knight sending the unlucky demon hunter flying through the air before crashing back down.

The second knight, wearing a light steel armor and sporting a one handed long sword, lunged forward. Attempting to capitalize on the opening in the demons defenses that the creatures attack created. He pierced the abominations abdomen, leaving a large gash across its stomach.

Blood spurted from the creatures mouth, as its intestines slid out all over the ground the ground. It released a high pitch wail that caused those fighting it to cover their ears in pain. Even Adrian, who at this time was still some distance away, had to cover his ears as he winced in pain from the demons screeching.

The demon ran around blindly, dragging its viscera around behind it leaving blood stains all over the ground. It started to grow lethargic as it began to succ.u.mb to its wounds. The blood loss, began to way down on it, as it found it harder, and harder to move. Eventually the creature fell over, and collapsed on the ground coughing up even more blood.

The whole scene looked like a blood bath, with entrails lying all over the ground, around the area where the battle took place. Just then the bronze armored knight swung his two-handed axe down with an immense amount of force, and split the creatures head almost entirely in half. The knight took off his helmet and spat on the corpse of the monster, before firing off a long list of curses.

The female mage then walked up and used some kind of spatial magic to store the corpse of the demon, before looking up and noticing Adrian walking up the road.

Adrian who had witnessed most of what had just transpired, was in shock over seeing a demon for the first time in his life. Only now did it truly set in that he wasn't in his world anymore, none of what he had just seen would have been possible otherwise.

"You there, don't you think of taking our bounty, you here. or you won't be walking away easily you hear me!!" The bronze knight bellowed at him as walked up.

"I mean no harm sir, I'm just trying to get to Faldor. Is there any chance you could point me in the right direction?" Adrian asked ignoring the mans taunts.

"We are heading to Faldor ourselves," The red haired mage spoke up while glancing at the self righteous, and almost completely useless knight in front of her," your welcome to come along with us if you'd like."

"Thanks miss, it is much appreciated." Adrian replied, with a smile to the beautiful woman before him.

" Just don't get in my way kid" the bronze knight said in disdain as he pushed Adrian backwards, almost knocking him off his feet.

[that guys a real a.s.s, but he will get his eventually] Adrian thought with a smirk.

Adrian turned to the woman and asked " Are you guys demons hunters?"

"Yes we are, although we are only rank E." she replied with a gentile smile.

"I don't know very much about demon hunters miss, would you care to explain, what the ranking system means" he asked politely, as he found this woman to be kind and had a much better attitude than the bronze a.s.s farther ahead.

"Humph... country bumpkin doesn't even know that..." the bronze knight commented harshly.

" quiet you!" the woman snapped at the bronze knight. She then turned back to Adrian an said" there are 8 ranks for demon hunters F. E. D. C. B. A. and the strongest of all S. rank."

"Arthur and myself are E. rank" she continued while pointing at the steel clad knight to her left " While that arrogant prick over there is F. rank" she said while glaring daggers at the back of the bronze knights head.

"I see, so how strong was that demon from before?" Adrian asked her

"That demon was only F. rank there are much stronger demons then that ugly thing. If you happen to run into one that looks more human you wont even have a chance to run away." she said in a serious tone to relay the importance for what she was saying.

"I understand" he replied " I'm heading to Faldor to become a demon hunter, but that's the first demon I've ever seen."

"Oooh.. really, I guess we'll be colleagues, then won't we", she said with a warm smile." Let me introduce myself I'm Elian, nice to meet you"

"My name is Adrian, and it is very nice to meet you as well" he introduced, him self with a smile. The two of them continued chatting until they could see the massive gates of Faldor in the distance.
