Owen Bytheway was an artist. He had been dating this girl, Chloe, for more than three years. Although she had very odd quirks and he noticed it, they are very happy together.

Eventually, she invited him to her house, a gigantic mansion in the countryside, to meet her family. After a sumptuous feast, they sat down for dessert.

It was then that her father, Mr. Drake, asked him.
"So... Owen, you know Chloe is a vampire, right?"
