Conquering The World With One Piece

Chapter 8 - In these 2 years...

The next day, in a wide-open field, I was training along with Nami and mom. Zoro had already bid me farewell, as he was already busy making preparations to leave and look for the strongest swordsman alive.

While I was busy casually sparring with my mom, Nami fell to her knees after completing a round of the obstacle course.

"Gasp, Gasp… I just can't go on!"

We stopped sparring for a second and went to check on Nami.

Momousagi put her hands to her waist and said, "Tired already, eh? I guess we'll call it lunch for now."

I laid beside Nami as my mom started to unpack our lunch boxes.

"Why do you train so hard, Leo?"

"Hmmm… So that there'll be one more person weaker than me out there, I guess."

Nami rubbed her chin in confusion and said, "How's that a reason? Anyway, I just feel like I hold you back with how weak I'm…"

I stroked Nami's hair and replied, "With the improvements in your navigation skills every day, it would be me who holds you back in the sea. Well, on second thoughts, maybe I can become the best navigator in the world if I just looked deep within me and tried!"

"Hmph, that's my title. Stupid Leo!" Nami cozied up closer to me and remarked.

"Uhm, Uhm"

At that moment, my mom arrived next to me and cleared her throat. She took my other hand and put it on her head, prompting me to stroke her hair too.

With no choice left, I began pampering to her as well.

Later, Nami was staring at Momousagi's spider tattoo in her t.h.i.g.h with a focused gaze.

"What is with that tattoo, Momousagi-san?"

At Nami's question, I tuned in my ears towards the conversation too. Though I always wanted to ask mom, I never did because I was trying to hide the inconsistencies from the original's memories. I was waiting for mom to bring it up…

"Oh, this? Hahaha… I just feel like it suits me! Leo, it's time to teach you martial-arts, but first!"

She got up and made some room for herself, grinning widely.

Huh… All of a sudden, Nami's and my eyes widened at the limbs growing out of Momousagi's body. She was literally growing 8 spider-like arms from her body. It reminded me of Vice Admiral Onigumo's devil fruit, but without the spider hunch back.

"Hahaha, are you two impressed? Apart from impaling my opponents with poisonous venom, I can do this…"

Thwip, Thwip… My mom threw an invisible web all the way up into the sky and climbed it swiftly. I could detect that some of her stats had crossed the 60-mark: no wonder she would become strong enough to be considered for an admiral to replace Kuzan in 6-7 years. She might be called Momousagi (pink rabbit), but she sure strikes like a venomous spider.

After showcasing her talent, my mom narrowed her eyes at me.

"While your devil-fruit may make you think you're the strongest, it alone is not enough to make you stand amongst the apex."

I nodded, completely believing that I wasn't the strongest yet. Transmigrators enjoy a wider worldview after all…

"I'm going to teach you something called Rokushiki, a special, superhuman martial arts style. Mastering the martial arts could give you an unprecedented edge in your physique, boosting your attack and defence during a superhuman battle. You can benefit from these techn…"

My mom went on to give me an explanation on how practicing these techniques can help me in battle. Soon she started giving me demonstrations for all the variation she knew. While Nami was watching the demonstration with her jaws gaped, I began playing around with my illusive screen.

"I want Rokushiki" I muttered to myself.

[Command acknowledged, user has been granted the complete mastery over the martial arts, Rokushiki.]

The complete knowledge of the variations of Rokushiki skills flooded in my mind, freezing it for a moment.

Meanwhile, my mom's explanation continued…

"… Soru is the most basic one you learn first to help you grasp the art…. Just kick off your legs like this with explosive strength, Leo… Hahaha, It looks hard to grasp, right? To learn it faster, you just need to kiss your mom on her lips as many times a-"

Soru…!

Whoosh… I blitz across the field at extremely high speeds, enjoying the ride. It was hard to control the move for a second, before the knowledge kicked in once again in my brain. Even though moving at lightning speed was faster and easier, I felt like Soru could still be used to amplify the speed of my attacks.

While I was busy pondering Rokushiki's uses, "W-Wha…," my mom's mouth was left open, and her eyes widened.

Nami's eyes sparkled at how easy this move was to learn; she started kicking the ground clumsily, expecting herself to dash at any moment. Alas, all she did was kick some dust.

Looking at my mom's pale face, I promised myself to hold back on the remaining moves she demonstrated.

Chun… I picked up an electromagnetic wave. 'Hum, Nami's finally here. I should begin packing before they arrive too…' I thought.

A few minutes later, Nami walked into my room with a grin. "Hey Leo, I'm back! Mom's send some oranges for you… and what do you think of this?"

She put a hand over her waist and struck out a 's.e.xy' pose, showing off the outfit she was wearing. It was a light pink dress, which showed off the cleavage she had grown in the last 4 years, combined with high-heeled sandals.

Unfortunately for her, all my attention was on packing. I said, "Think of what…? Anyway, just begin packing! We need to leave now!"

Nami bit her nails and pursed her lips into a pout.

"I just came back after 2 months! Why are we leaving?! I don't want to leave!"

I finally turned around to see that Nami had crossed her arms and glanced away from me. She did look kind of cute in anger too though…

"I'll explain later, just get ready to leave now. Oh, by the way, you make that outfit look super cute!"

I ran up to her and wrapped my arms around her. Her mood seemed a little better now. To wrap it up, I went in for a quick kiss to her cheeks. But my mind was heavily preoccupied, and I by mistake… Muah… pecked her on the lips.

Nami's face flushed red and she put her hands on her cheeks in a fl.u.s.ter. "No Leo, we're still too young! Or are we leaving to get away from your mom already!"

After convincing Nami and packing all our stuff, we were walking towards our boat. While I was lifting basically all our luggage, Nami was just holding her Clima-Tact, which I recently made for her, and my treasure box.

Currently, she was staring at the treasure box with keen eyes.

"Leo, what's up with that weird looking orange fruit inside? Is it some delicacy?"

"That's the Logia-type devil fruit, Flame-Flame fruit. You can have it if you want; you'll just become a flame human. Oh, and it is possibly worth more than a billion Berrys."

At the mention of the price tag, Nami clutched on to the treasure box more dearly than her life. She bared her teeth at me for mentioning this fruit so casually.

When we had almost reached the shore, Nami asked, "Wait, why're we running away from the Marines? It won't be too bad to join them: their navigation data can really help my goals. We can even catch those sc.u.m pirates like Arlong Pirates who tried to kill my mom…!"

I smiled wryly at Nami's insistence. I'd never really gotten the motivation to tell her about the organized crime of Marines, at the orders of Celestial Dragons, with my mom around.

Also, my mom had to abruptly leave for Marine Headquarters in the past week. Just before she left, she sneakily contacted someone to convince me to 'come to the right side.' I was lucky enough to spy on her conversation with my omniscient fruit; however, I had to wait three days for Nami to return before we could leave.

"Nami, you do know most of our money comes from bounties, right? Becoming a Marine means working for free!"

Nami's lips turned down with hesitation after I brought a point valid to her. Before I could bring in other points, all my little efforts went to waste.

In the distance, a large Marine Battleship was spotted. I could tell it was commanded by 'Great Staff Officer, Tsuru, and the ship was speeding towards us.

'Do I join the Marines…? And if I do, will I just betray them later or hope to bring down their "Absolute Justice". Or is this all just naive thinking on my part,' my pupils dilated in heavy concentration.
