Side Story — Luna’s View 1

 

I’m Luna, an elf and standard rank D adventurer. I’ve lived in Falu for quite some time, but never have I seen anyone as crazy as the girl sleeping in front of me. Her name is Ei and she saved me from an owlbear a bit ago. Owlbears are supposed to be fire resistant but that one got scorched!

 

She collapsed after eating a knowledge crystal, which is normal. Ah well, I guess the guards will have to ask her some questions.

 

 

I’m giving Ei a tour of the town. I’m going to all my favorite places like the bookstore, inn, three major guilds, and my favorite bakery!

 

“Let’s go in! I’ll buy you some bread!”

 

“Uhh okay…”

 

*ding ding*

 

I love the little jingle the bells make when you enter.

 

“Morin! I’m here to buy bread!” (A/N: Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear reference counter: 2. I didn’t document the first one? Too bad)

 

“Ah Luna, you’re back! And you brought a friend?”

 

“Yep! Gotta spread your amazing bread, you know?

 

I bought a bunch of bread and shared it with Ei. She seemed to really like it! It’s the best bread in town after all!

 

 

After agreeing to do a request with Ei, I’m waiting for her to get to the gate. She said she needed an hour to make preparations, but seriously? An hour? Most adventurers need to prepare rations at most for a simple mission like this. Even if we start from noon, it’s going to take a while to get to the other village. If we’re unlucky we’ll have to stay the night.

 

“Luna! Let’s head out!”

 

“Took you long enough! I was getting bored waiting for you!”

 

I wasn’t actually getting bored… but I almost was! An hour is way too long!

 

“Did you really think we were walking?”

 

What?! Did she get horses or something? But it’s only a bit over two miles! And horses aren’t cheap! Wait… don’t tell me she made something ridiculous. Maybe she brought a dragon?!?

 

“Luna, behold. [Gale Burst]!”

 

“Kyaaa!”

Give me warning next time Ei! Also this isn’t how you use [Gale Burst]! I’m going to break my legs!

 

“[Create Aerofluid]!”

 

Eh? I’m falling slowly? Also what is that spell…? [Create Ounabheyz]? (A/N: Aerofluid doesn’t translate)

 

“What?! I’m falling slowly?!”

  

“[Gale Burst]”

 

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH”

 

Whaaaaatttttt iiiiiisss thiiiiiisss? We’re moving too fast! I can’t see anything? Seriously, what did Ei do?!?!

 

 

Ah! We ran into hobgoblins! This is bad. Bad, bad, very bad. We need to run. Now!

 

“Let me try one. If I can’t kill it, we’ll run.”

 

“But-”

 

“I’ll be fine, remember how I flew us here? I can do that to get away.”

 

“O..okay”

 

No matter how strong you are, you can’t beat these guys! Iron shatters on impact with their swords! Magic gets parried by the captain! Supporting mages cast counterspell! D ranks can’t handle it!

 

…

 

What is this?

 

Despite being a mage, Ei’s running around with some sword-on-a-stick weapon. A gla… gli… uhhhh… I forgot.

 

Still, no normal adventurer can casually slice these guys' heads off, or freeze their feet, or move so fast I can’t even see them! What is this monster…

 

Ah! The captain jumped! I’m sure Ei can avoid it, but the shockwave is massive! And she doesn’t know about it!

 

“Ei watch out for the shoc-”

 

Whaaaaattttt iiiiiissss thiiiiiissssss? She broke the magic parrying sword! With magic! And sliced him in half! And sent him flying! Was she holding back when she helped me?!?! This is as strong as a B rank adventurer! No… more?!?
