Chapter 3 — To the Adventurers’ Guild; Chaos Ensues

The building for the Adventurers’ Guild is almost like a tavern. No walls around most of the building and tables in front of a reception desk. I head to the receptionist’s desk.

“Hello! What can the Adventurers’ Guild do for you today?”

“Can I register as an adventurer?”

“Sure thing, just fill out this form and listen to the explanation of how the guild works.”

The form is pretty basic. Typical stuff like name, race, sex, occupation, etc. Wait, what is my occupation? I guess I’ll put eldritch warrior then.

“Eldritch warrior? Never heard of that before. Is it like a magical knight? Most people only specialize in one thing though…”

“Pretty much. I can handle it.”

“If you insist. Well then, here’s the mandatory explanation. Each adventurer has a rank F to A or S. There is no rank E. You must make it out of rank F within a year of signing up.”

“The Adventurers’ Guild is not responsible for injuries on jobs or between adventurers. You may only take requests at most one rank above yours. You must complete at least six requests above your rank to be eligible for promotion. Meeting requirements do not guarantee promotion.”

“A special request will be required in order to be promoted to any rank above C. In order to be promoted to A rank you are required to be recommended by a guildmaster. In order to be promoted to S rank you must be recommended by three guildmasters and a noble house of at least count rank.”

“In order to receive a request, please rip it off of the board and bring it to reception, unless it has ‘Permanent’ written in the duration field.”

Seems pretty standard.

“If you agree to all these terms, please sign here.”

I signed the paper. Well then, time to do some adventuring. I’m almost impressed nobody tried to stop me.

Taking a look at the F rank requests, they seem pretty standard. You know, gather herbs, kill wolves, stuff like that. I guess I’ll go wolf hunting

I waved to the guard on the way out. He told me to be careful. I’m pretty sure it was the same guard as yesterday. Now then, how to find wolves?

*ping*

…Of course.

Need help finding things? Well, take a look at your map. See the dots? Red means hostile. Yellow means neutral. Blue means allied. Maybe I’ll give you some more upgrades later. Have fun~!

Convenient. Well then, there should be some wolves a bit north of here.

And I’m there. Time to see if my glaive skills got rusty. Dodge to the right, attack, dodge again, attack, stab the last one, and now the three wolves are dead. Seems like I’m better than before. I guess being a vampire makes you stronger.

*ping*

Don’t forget to harvest some blood from the wolves. Unless you have another method to get blood that is. Have fun~!

ENTITY has a good point. Wolf blood doesn’t taste great but it isn't as bad as I thought it would. It only tasted like bad water fountain water. Well, this should be enough for a week or two, so I’ll save one of the corpses for blood. The others I can turn in to the guild. Time to-

“HOOOOOAAARRRR!!!!!”

“ROOOAAAAAHOOOOO!!!!”

Owlbears? And one of them has a massive burn across its side? One must be that owlbear from yesterday.

The burnt owlbear lunges at me. Well then, become my target practice. Activating my transformation, I slash the remainder of its arm off. Then, I take control of the blood that comes gushing out of the wound. Hmmm… it looks much more appetizing. I’ll save some for later?

Anyways, I quickly weave the pool of blood into a net, before lifting the burnt owlbear into the air with it.

Or not. It just got sliced. Time to finish off the healthy one. I’ve got some nice wings, time to use them. I fly at the owlbear, skewering it on my glaive. Then, extending the blade of my glaive downwards with blood bending, I slice it in half. (A/N: Anyone have a better name than blood bending? I’ll give you a cookie :D)

The blood tastes closer to normal water. Perhaps because it has more magic in it?

I ended up hunting around 20 wolves in an hour. (A/N: Not Earth hours)

“Receptionist-san! I’m back!” (A/N: Not going to use honorifics much, but will sometimes. See end for more info)

“Back already? Did you run into some difficulties?”

“Ei! Welcome back! You should have told me that you became an adventurer! I wanted to join you…”

It seems Luna is here too.

“Ah… nothing much. I just finished a few permanent commissions.”

“Eh? Already? Normally it takes at least half a day to do one or two, especially for newbie adventurers. Well, as long as you have proof you’ll get the reward. Come to my desk.”

“Which commissions did you do?”

“I think around four wolf subjugation requests? Ah, and I killed two owlbears.”

“20 wolves? And two owlbears? You’re joking right?”

“No… I have the proof. Observe, Luna. Receptionist-san, where should I put the corpses?”

I don’t think a regular reception desk has enough space. There’s probably another area. Oh wait, aren’t you supposed to just bring magic stones back? Well, it said nothing in the request so I guess it’s fine.

“Corpses? You know you just need the magic stone right?”

I knew it! And Luna is looking at me dumbfounded. Ahaha…ha…

“It didn’t specify… but do you have a way to sell the corpses?”

“We do. Please follow me.”

This place looks like an aircraft hanger. I could probably shove a dragon into this place.

“Please place the corpses here.”

And thus I take out the corpses. Now Receptionist-san is staring dumbfounded as well.

“Ah… I’ll call some staff members over in a second.”

I then took out the owlbear corpses.

“…”

“…”

“I have these, can I sell them too?”

I left the guild with another small gold coin. I think I’ll need to avoid the guild for a few days because the adventurers have started calling me weird names. Well, at least Luna doesn’t.

Azure_Fog New section dividers, hope you like them. I hope my fight scenes aren’t too boring, I have no idea how to write them. Anyways, I’m trying to shift the release time to 10:00am PT because right now these chapters post at 1am. My sleep is amazing. Also, the rate of chapters will be 1 every 3 days or every other day if you’re lucky.

Honorifics: I’ll use them occasionally but I really don’t know how to use them. I only know from webnovels. I’ll be using them in places where I’m addressing someone with only a title (Ex: Receptionist-san), but not by just stating what they are (Ex: the guard)
