Disastrous New Age

The first thing Lucian did after leaving the academy was to enter the portal again. He put on Ghost Mask and started walking towards the portal.

He was going alone so he used his other identity Ghost Face.

"It's Ghost Face!" said someone.

Everyone looked in the direction where the voice came from and they could see a man pointing and Lucian.

"it's really him."

"Amazing. He looks so strong."

'Really? I have been recognized so fast?' Lucian knew that Ghost Face was very popular before but he didn't know someone would still recognize him after he didn't head inside for a year.

He didn't want to be surrounded by people so he quickly entered the portal.

He arrived inside and appeared at the forest as always.

This time he didn't have any arrows with him so he couldn't use a bow. Of course that was deliberate.

Before he left the academy, he checked his status.

His stats couldn't increase anymore and he could only level up his skills and his Classes.

What he figured out was that the experience that comes from monsters that he killed with a bow goes to the Shadow Hunter Class. If he uses daggers or other items that a Rouge can use then the Rouge Class will get that experience.

At least that was his idea. He needed to prove it because after he had gotten the Shadow Hunter Class, he was only killing goblins with a bow.

This time he decided he would use daggers and train his Stealth and Slash skills while getting experience for his Rouge Class.

Of course, he wasn't without any daggers. He of course got two daggers out from when he collected them 10 years ago.

He pulled them both out and looked at their stats.

He equipped them. Then he also took out Flaming Lion C.h.e.s.tplate and Kobold's Leggings and equipped them.

"It is time to start."

He then started killing every goblin he found for the next two days.

Two days later.

"Phew. I sure did work out a lot." Lucian wiped his sweat and looked through the items he got.

"Hmm, 14x Goblin's Tooth, 6x Goblin's Bones, 1x Bone Dagger, 13x Wooden Arrow. Coming out from about 400 goblins seems to be quite a good harvest. Especially the Wooden Arrow, those are the best for me."

He picked one of the Wooden Arrows and c.a.r.e.s.sed it. "My baby, I'll be sure to use you nicely."

Then he looked at his status.

He leveled up twice while killing the goblins. With that he got 3 stat points for each level up. He decided to put 3 points into Dexterity and 3 points into Agility.

"Whoa! My body feels better." Lucian could immediately feel the changes of his body after allocating those stat points.

He also did a 100 meter run. "My body really became stronger. Amazing, so this is the power of the System."

"I guess it's time for me to go out. I should find a party for myself, so I won't be too suspicious by going in alone."

In the same time, he started channeling Return.

Outside of the portal he quickly used Stealth and escaped, so other people won't chase him unless someone had a skill to detect him.

"Phew. This was quite a workout. Since I got used to fight the goblins, it really didn't become a problem to kill them."

He looked around just to be sure there was nobody near. "I should do thing like that more often.

Then just as he started walking he heard a voice. "Sir, do you have any money to give?"

Lucian was startled. He looked at the direction where the voice came from and saw a woman.

"No, I don't have any," answered Lucian.

"Please just a little bit, I only need a few credits to buy some food," she said.

"Why are you even begging for money here? Did you get fired?" asked Lucian. It was strange to see a person begging for money these days. People were going into the portal to earn money or selling things, they have made to earn money.

What is even more strange is that she only looks to be 24 years old and she doesn't have bad looks.

"I-I got thrown out of my party because I was useless." She started crying.

'She's crying.' Lucian had no idea what to do. "Hey, it's going to be okay. Please just calm down."

"But, I can't do anything. I'm useless!" She started crying even more.

Just then Lucian got an amazing idea. "Hey what's your name?"

"It's Sophia," she answered.

"What is your Job? Can you tell me?" he looked at her waiting for an answer.

"I am a Crafter, why do you ask this?" she asked. Why would he even care about her?

"I want to hire you. Are you interested?"

Sophia was surprised. "Really?"

Lucian nodded. Since there was a chance to hire someone to make items for him and she was even a Crafter. She could make him some Wooden Arrows when needed and she would also be able to level up her Job.

He would even pay her, so she would have more profit.

"Oh, can you tell me your class too?" asked Lucian. Since she said she was thrown out of a party he could just party with her and make her stronger.

He would then have a strong party member and it wouldn't be so suspicious if he went to the portal with her.

"I'm a Cleric."

Lucian was surprised. He didn't actually think he would find a Cleric like this.

"But why were you thrown out of your party?" Since she was a Cleric, people wouldn't just throw her out of the party.

"They got another Cleric, who was better than me, so I was not needed," she answered.

Lucian sighed. He knew that moments like this could happen to some people. As parties were searching for better people, they could just throw out the weaker ones to not waste items they got from killing goblins.

Also Cleric class was actually rare in USA. There were a lot of Clerics in other countries but there were less here.

That number isn't actually a lot different but it is enough to know that hoping to get a Cleric for your party is very hard if you aren't strong enough.

"Well if you want you can join my party." Lucian really wanted her to join. It was a perfect chance to get someone who would go together with him to the dungeon.

"Really?" A person could see hope in her eyes.

"Yeah. If you want I can also give you monthly pay for the items that you will make me."

"That would be great!" Now she was very happy. There was finally an opportunity for her to live normally again.

"Great! Now let's go to the portal." Lucian gave her the armor that he had used while in the academy.

"Wait?! Now?" She asked to make sure that she heard it correctly.

Lucian nodded. "Yeah, now." He wanted to go as soon as possible, so he can show her how good he his in order to keep her to work for him.

"But where are the others?" she asked. It looked strange that there was nobody else with Lucian. He should have party members with him.

"Hmm. I'm the only one." He smiled and started walking.

"What?"

"Like I said i'm the only one in my party," he said. He knew that it was really hard to believe but he didn't have much choice. He needed her to party with him, it's better than joining an existing part and then sharing drops between 5 or 10 members.

Sophia started to become nervous. But since this was her best chance to get some money she followed him into the portal.

While following him she asked, "How many goblins have you killed?"

"Quite a lot," he smiled. Then he looked at her and said with a smile on his face, "I killed so many goblins that I could be called the Goblin Slayer."

"A what?" she asked.

"Nothing, nothing." He smiled and went inside the portal with Sophia following him.
