Douluo Dalu: Legend Of Xiao Yan

Chapter 85 - 85: Welcome Back

Two shadowy figures moved through the night of Suotuo City on the roofs of the city's many buildings.

They were Xiao Yan and Tang San, both successfully bringing an end to the Jia Lie Clan and are currently returning back to the former's store.

Parkouring through building to building, Tang San cast a worried gaze at the strangely quiet and frowning Xiao Yan.

He narrowed his eyes as he watched as his brother mutter and shook his head more than once in their return trip home.

Normally his sworn brother would make quips, talk about creating some self-made spirit ability, teasing him of his current relationship with Xiao Wu, which he will forever be silent about, and, well, mostly just talk about stuff.

So for him to be eerily silent and sour looking, Tang San realized that the deaths Xiao Yan had caused, had made him feel guilty, regretful and self-loathing at himself.

To which he couldn't help his brother deal with. Tang San let out a sad sigh as he jumped across another building. He never dealt with this kind of problem before, even in his previous life. He was raised and taught of the morals of Tang Sect by the elders who raised since he was but a baby, which in retrospect, a very bad idea to do.

Seriously, who teaches a baby to hold a dagger and expect them to not flinch, cry and pisses when they have said baby kill a chicken? Tang San reminisced with a twitching expression, remembering his life clearly due to cultivating the Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eyes that fortunately, unfortunately, enhances his mental strength and memory.

As much as he had loved Tang Sect, he knew, that there was just something wrong with it. Humanity ain't perfect after all.

'Opps, I'm getting off track.' Tang San shook his head to snap back to reality, which speaks volumes of his skills as a control system spirit master that he was multitasking at being lost to his thoughts while parkouring through the roofs of buildings.

Point is though, Xiao Yan needs help.

'And I know just the people to turn to.' Tang San thought with a devious grin on his face.

...

Xiao Yan let out a tired sigh as he landed on the roof of his store along with Tang San. He stood up and they both entered in the building roof.

He was tired, both physically, mentally and emotionally. This was the night he first killed a human being and dozens more following. To say he was unaffected would be a lie.

This world wasn't as cutthroat and grim as Flame Emperor's nor was he so apathetic that he would easily not bat an eye as he kill someone.

He first and true previous life was Xiao Yan in earth. A normal guy that had some bad luck but lived honestly and freely. He followed the law and see other people as people, not lambs waiting to be slaughtered.

Seriously, what the heck was he thinking? Slaughtering the high ranking members and some guards of Jia Lie Clan because he was so paranoid that they would retaliate and dragged the people he loves into this?

'... Yeah they probably would.' Xiao Yan sighed once more as the cynical and intellectual part of his mind told him that he was right if his paranoia, especially since he had already heard of their plans hunting him down.

'So why? Why does the heaviness in my heart seemed to grow, the more I see the blood in my hands...' Xiao Yan tilted his head down to his hands to see them covered completely in blood. Sickly red and dripping down, as if his hands were blood themselves.

Xiao Yan blinked and the blood on his hands were gone. .

Withholding a heavy sigh he closed his eyes and opened the door leading to a set of stairs towards the second floor of the building, completely missing the worried eyes of Tang San.

Though after they took a step in however, they took their respective clothes from their respective storage spirit tools and changed into them.

Patting down his clothes Xiao Yan nodded at himself for being clean before turning towards Tang San, then twitched his right eyebrow.

Standing besides him was Tang San, now wearing his preferred blue jacket and lean navy jeans, sporting a completely new look. He was a couple inches taller than before, making him at the same height level of Xiao Yan, his hair is much longer, turned into a lighter blue, and he wears it tied back in a low ponytail, with bangs framing a neat, handsome face.

"What's wrong?" Tang San asked in confusion.

Moments before the mission, Ah Yin, wanting for her son to be safe, decided to awaken his bloodline and spirit which resulted in Tang San's new look and abilities.

Firstly, his three spirit rings had aged up due to the remaining heaven and earth power of Ah Yin when she was undergoing her transformation into a human. With that power she could have used it to help her cultivation but wanted it as a present for her son; for not being with him in his life.

Xiao Yan also knows that this shouldn't have happen this early but, it should be good right? Tang San had grown stronger so it should be good. Though except for the part of his face becoming handsome, god dammit, he also wants a new face!

He also knows that Ah Yin wouldn't stop at this, she would probably go to that Blue Silver King later on to condense a growth-type spirit ring for Tang San when he needs a new one, probably at Spirit Ancestor or Spirit King.

Or she could condense one? It's been a long time for Xiao Yan to remember much of the story except the important parts.

"Nah it's nothing, come on." He shook his head and they continue walking down the short set of stairs when they both stopped, their bodies tensing as their spiritual range sensed the presence of six individuals in the second floor of the building.

The last they knew, the current occupants of the building they were only four; so who were the last two?

"Yan..." Tang San readied for an ambush but Xiao Yan stopped him with a shake of his head, causing him to be confused.

Xiao Yan didn't tell this to anyone but, he was able to record the feel of someone's spiritual power and could always tell who's who when he uses his spiritual awareness of his surroundings.

It had surprised and worried him for a moment at the sudden addition of people over his store but he quickly calm down as he soon felt the familiarity of them.

The ever blazing, compassionate and calming aura of Xun Er and the ever fiery, passionate and endearing aura of Ma Xiaotao.

Xiao Yan's lips tugged up, his once heavy guilty heart slowly ease, as the closest female friends in this life, and possibly more, are close by.

Ma Xiaotao, was an anomaly he didn't really thought of anything beyond as a friend and ally against the enemies they would fight one day. But in some kind of twist of fate, they were bound for as long as they both live and probably in death as well.

Xiao Yan wasn't some dense shonen/harem protagonist that would easily dismissed a woman's interest in him for hundreds of chapters or fifty episodes.

True, the way they both basically interlocked each other's fate was because one wanted to help the other, and even when they would be partner's for basically all their lives; they would have just remain professional in their relationship or just being friends in general.

But when they interact with each other, day in and out for an entire three months, each other's emotions and sometimes thoughts connected, it would have been inevitable that they would show interest in one another.

Though truthfully, Ma Xiaotao had already fallen in love with him, just a month or two in their 'relationship', and he knew it, and he knew she could probably confessed to him at any given moment but she stopped because she could feel it in their connection of Xiao Yan's hesitation, doubt and fear.

Despite their mutual interest at each other, Xiao Yan's heart still has someone he holds dear even more than his life.

Xun Er.

'And they say having a relationship is easy, I'm going to punch anyone who fuċkɨnġ says that to my face.' Xiao Yan twitched his eyebrow.

'Though why are they here?' Snapping out of his mind, Xiao Yan realizes that he was now standing in front of the door leading to the second floor living room of his building.

It was a normal living room of five meters wide, though a bit empty in decor and furniture but that was to be expected for both Xiao Yan and Zi Yan don't keep a lot of stuff, and the latter mostly kept to her room. The interior was of white walls and ceiling, and a small hallway connecting towards two other rooms and the kitchen. On the left side were four occupied couches surrounding a single wooden table, cups of tea on the wooden table, there multiple voices resounded in the room.

"Xiao Yan-gege/Tang San-gege!" Xun Er, Ma Xiaotao, Xiao Wu and Zi Yun all stood up at the appearance of the two, expressions fo concern and worry on their faces. While the only ȧduŀts in the room sipped tea calmly as they watched the two with a strange look in their eyes.

"Oh hey girls, we're–" Xiao Yan didn't get to finish his greetings as he was suddenly tackled to the ground and was getting piled by Xun Er, Ma Xiaotao and Zi Yan, while Tang San was only tackled into a standing hug by Xiao Wu.

"Welcome back..." The girls mumbled in the boys ears.

The two boys were confused at the intimacy for a moment but as they looked to see puffy redden eyes, they could connect the dots and felt guilty.

They didn't say anything. Tang San returned the hug of Xiao Wu and soothed her by ċȧrėssing her hair softly. While Xiao Yan gently hugged them all within his arms and lowered his head.

"Un, we're back...."
