Douluo Dalu: Legend Of Xiao Yan

Chapter 86 - 86: Aftermath & Goodbye

Suotuo City, Branch of Spirit Hall

"What?!" Cao Nie yelled in both surprise and shock at the flinching young man in front of him.

They were currently in his office, a simple table and chair in the middle of the room with a great view behind said table.

He is Cao Nie, a middle aged man with black hair and eyes, an average build and face. He's a newly promoted Cardinal appointed in Suotuo City half a year ago as an overseer of the branch sector as a test; to see if he could handle managing a branch sect and accumulate experience in such managing that, in a few years later, he would be sent back to the main HQ of Spirit Hall and be graded to see if he would be a candidate for the position of archbishop.

He thought he hit the jackpot, having to manage a branch sector of Spirit Hall? It was manageable at best. Suotuo City might be a big city but it's mostly a quiet one; with minimal crime rate, mostly subservient citizens, low spirit master population, and a spirit arena and a lot of brothels that he could entertained himself with and recruiting some talented youths, everything was good.

He had truly hit the jackpot. With nothing capable of threatening his position in the city and future promotion at HQ, Cao Nie enjoyed the blissful months passing by as he waited for the message from HQ. Thinking that nothing would go wrong.

...His past self should have just fuċkɨnġ kept quiet.

Cao Nie slumped down in his leather comfy chair, his face expressionless but mouth twitching.

"Another clan has been brought down huh? And instead of just humiliating them, this time, whoever's behind this has resorted to murder. The paperwork and scolding from the higher ups are going to kill me, well, not if the old monster from Jia Lie Clan and the ancient Shi Clan comes for me first." He turned towards the trembling figure of the young man, ignoring the slight wetness between his legs, he asked the boy.

"So what about the young master of the Jia Lie Clan? Jia Lie Ao whats-his-name? And what about the Ao Ba Clan? Weren't they taking shelter at the Jia Lie mansion?"

The poor boy flinched in place, and looked to be an inch away from crying and pissing himself again before somehow finding his courage, he said.

"Jia Lie Ao is currently critically injured before the incident at the mansion and the spies we have there, said that the boy is most likely crippled down to his entire lower body." Cao Nie's eye twitched. "Then, well, most of the important personal are safe but some of their members were also killed during the incident. They've been traumatized and had done a cowardly move, milord. Just when chaos and the news of the deaths of Jia Lie Bi and several elders were spread, they've immediately packed everything they have and ran out of the city and last I heard... They say they were going to become farmers–heeh!"

*Cracked!*

The boy's jaw trembled uncontrollably as he stared at the priceless mahogany wooden desk of Cao Nie, who had unconsciously smashed his spirit powered right fist onto creating a spiderweb cracks on the poor desk.

Cao Nie slowly took a calming breath in, taking his fist back and leaning back into his seat, he closed his eyes and tried to settle his emotions;

Everything's fuċkėd.

In any normal situation, when a clan gets humiliated or destroyed, he wouldn't really care. Heck, he'd even give the guy responsible for those fuċkers demise a pat on the back. He had some bad memories encountering with members of a powerful clan more than he liked during his youth.

So for Cao Nie, this wasn't supposed to be a problem.

And yet it is a problem: cause Ao Ba Clan is connected to the Jia Lie Clan, which is connected to the Shi Clan, one of the seven ancient families of the continent, and is part of Spirit Hall. They weren't also some ordinary members of Spirit Hall oh no, they had the power beyond even an archbishop.

'This situation would be recoverable if the Shi Clan let this matter go... But knowing those prideful and arrogant sons of bitches, if they ever hear that a branch of their clan is both crippled and humiliated, their allied clan running away with their tails tuck between their legs, their reputation would surely plummet as a powerful family. They would take this matter seriously.' Cao Nie grabbed the sides of his head in frustration. .

'What's even worse: not wanting to lose their connection with one of the seven ancient family, Spirit Hall wouldn't help bail me out if the Shi Clan demads my head on a platter; most likely even do it themselves if they want to please them. The only way for me to live is that for some miracle that the Supreme Pontiff herself would save my ȧss.'

No matter how you look at it, he's screwed. Unless he apprehends the culprit...

An image of a grinning white haired devil appeared in his head.

'Nope.' Cao Nie instantly denied.

A couple months ago when this situation of the clans occurred, Cao Nie prepared to investigate the boogieman that humiliated the clans.

That was until he was visited by a very powerful and notorious person.

All he could do was quake in his chair as the man 'convinced' him to let the matter go.

'Little Nie, this boogieman that you heard about is a little side project of mine, and it's going pretty well if I do say so myself; though I hate it if it were to be interrupted; I don't want anyone to know. So, for the sake of sanity, and I mean yours, keep your little mouth shut.'

And so he did. Even the threat of punishment from Spirit Hall dosen't scare him as much like being hunted down by the 'devil' of douluo after all.

'Looks like there's only one option for me to do for me to escape hell...' Cao Nie's long black hair bangs shadowed his eyes. A moment later, he stood up from his seat.

"Um, uh, milord? What's to be done? Orders?" The boy asked in confusion, unsure of what to say and ask the normal routine of his job.

Actually, what even is his job? The boy wondered.

"Kid, from now on I'm resigning from my position and I want you to take it. Goodbye and good luck" 'You're gonna need it.' Cao Nie said with a strong firm tone of voice, ignoring the bugged out eyes of the boy, he walked around his desk, gave the boy a pat to the shoulder, and turned to walk towards the door to leave.

But he stopped for a moment and undressed his white and decorated cardinal robes to dropped on the ground; leaving him with only his white and red hearts brief.

'Sorry kid, but I want to live. I have so many things I wanted to do left in my middle-aged life so I can't afford to die here, I'll probably follow the Ao Ba Clan and become a farmer in the mountains. I'll also want to grab a busty girl for a wife and start a family I suppose.'

Cao Nie's half nȧkėd body felt the cold hair hit him as he walked out of the Spirit Hall building and out to the morning dawn of the city.

"Hah... It's so peaceful."

....

All slightly covered in pink bed sheets were Xun Er, Ma Xiaotao and Zi Yan all hugging his body tightly for comfort and warmth from the cool early morning.

Which is nice and all, except that they're on bed and their clothes was all messy and loosely falling apart.

Xiao Yan gulped once more as he felt a pair of indescribable soft squishy mounds on him.

'How in the fuċk did this happen?!'
