Douluo Dalu: Legend Of Xiao Yan

Chapter 95 - 95: Well, that's unexpected?

Silence.

The crowd, manager Ao, Shrek Ten Commandments, and even the Mad Battle Team, were all silent when they heard what Mad Xi announced.

Xiao Yan dropped his jaw, disbelief on his face.

A moment later the flirtatious woman turned towards Mad Xi, her hair raising in the air reflecting her mood, with an indignant expression on her face, she shouted at him while pointing at the other team.

"What the hell boss?!"

Like a domino effect and spark to a bomb, the audience exploded, metaphorically speaking.

"Rig! I call rig!"

"You ȧsshole! I had betted my entire month income for you guys! Boo!"

"I demand a rematch!"

Countless angry remarks were thrown towards the Mad Battle Team, even including the audience's snacks and drinks at them.

"Boss..." All of Mad Xi's other teammates turned towards him, their eyes filled with questions they want answers to.

Mad Xi didn't say anything. He held up his head high, turned his body around, and left to walk away.

Seeing him leave caused the audience anger to spike once more, causing them to throw more angry remarks and insults at the leaving Mad Xi.

The rest of the Mad Battle Team, whether through embarrassment, shame or wanting for answers, followed after their leaving leader. This further infuriated the crowd once more into a frenzy.

"Uhh..." Manager Ao was momentarily speechless at such situation. The entire thing looked so unexpected to him, that even he thought that the entire thing was staged.

But he quickly regained his composure as one of the managers and representative of the Great Spirit Arena of Suotuo City.

"Winner of the team spirit fight, the Shrek Ten Commandments! Congratulations! Win streaks: one, and losses: zero. Come to the registration area to register your newly ȧssigned points."

The audience instantly turned their anger at manager Ao and the Shrek Ten Commandments.

"It's totally rigged!"

"I want a refund!" .

"This sucks!"

The smile on manager Ao's face slowly widened creepily, a dark shadow covered his eyes, and said.

"Oh? You think the prestigious Great Spirit Arena would go and start rigging matches do you?"

"That's right!" Someone yelled out from the crowd, missing the change on manager Ao's face.

"Oof, he shouldn't have said that..." Zhao Wuji muttered to Flender who nodded in agreement. Wanting to diss the Great Spirit Arena? Something that the seven clans and families are backing? That's not just stupid, that's seeking death!

"Ah." Apparently the guy did realize what was going on but it was too late.

"Security!"

Xiao Yan watched the ensuing chaos around the entire arena and shook his head.

"Well, this was unexpectedly disappointing..."

....

Outside of the Great Spirit Arena.

"Mad Xi! Xi! Oi!" The flirtatious woman angrily called out towards her leader, the rest of her teammates following her. Several people looked towards them in curiosity but they ignored it soon after.

"What was that Xi?!" The old man with the disk type tool spirit asked.

"Boss..." The twins with sheep type spirits muttered in concern. The other twins but with monkey type spirits didn't say anything but expressed their concerns.

Mad Xi didn't say anything. He continued walking straight down the street with a dark look on his face.

"Mad Xi! Would you just stop and explain!" The flirtatious woman once more demanded the answers she and her teammates wanted.

This situation was too strange! They knew their leader for years now and they haven't known him to easily backed out a fight, even if their chances of winning were low he would at least fight with everything that he has until he eventually falls in a glorious defeat.

Now they had seen the clear opposite of what Mad Xi would do. They quickly knew that something was up and they needed to know what it was.

Mad Xi stopped and so did the rest of his teammates, the Mad Battle Team is now dozens of meters away from the Great Spirit Arena and are now in empty streets under the night sky.

"Okay." The flirtatious woman and the others perked up their ears, finally hearing Mad Xi speaking to them after he stormed off the Spirit Arena. "You want my reason why we, I, throw that match off? It's simple really."

Mad Xi turned towards them, looking them in the eyes, each and everyone of them, with his eyes looking deeply pained and frustrated.

The members of Mad Battle Team, however, picked up something more from Mad Xi's eyes; deep fear.

This was the first time the members of the Mad Battle Team saw their leader's eyes so complicated and dominated in fear.

"Look down at your hands and tell me..." The members were confused for a moment before following their leader's words, wanting to find out the reason of their leader's troubles, and stared down at their hands.

All of the Mad Battle Team members, except for the old man with the disk type tool spirit, widened their eyes in shock.

"What do you see?"

Their hands were trembling. No, not only that, but they feel something intense slowly filling them.

"Uh, all I see are my hands?" The old man sarcastically remarked towards Mad Xi. His face plastered in annoyance.

"Old man, look at their hands and mine." Mad Xi didn't mind the old man's sarcasm and gently told him to looked at his and his teammates' hands.

The old man followed his words and looked at their hands, he was startled.

"W-Why are your hands trembling...?" The flirtatious woman and the others looked at each other, their hands, and shook their heads towards the old man.

"I-We don't know." The flirtatious woman muttered towards the old man as she and the others clenched their hands into fists, trying to stop the tremble of their hands. lt briefly did stop but sometimes it would continue or become flinches.

"Xi, what is going on?" One of the twins with a sheep type beast spirit asked their leader for answers.

Mad Xi let out a deep exhale, his hands also showing their trembling, as he said. "Truthfully, I don't know. But I know for certain that the person wearing that green flaming skull mask is behind this."

"What do you mean?" The flirtatious woman narrowed her eyes, anger in her eyes; thinking that the person who Mad Xi described had done something to them prior before the match to make them feel like this.

"Can't you feel it?" Mad Xi's words only made them further confused.

'Feel what exactly?' What they all thought.

"Fear."

One word, one simple word from Mad Xi, and they felt shocks running down their entire bodies, except for the old man.

The woman crossed both her arms together to hug herself while the others clenched their hands.

Fear, a word and feeling they were all familiar with; from when they were a child and even now. But for it to make them feel this way, just what kind of a person was that masked spirit master?

"Why, no, how? How is that person causing this?" The flirtatious woman snapped at Mad Xi, her eyebrows scrunched up and eyes slightly watery. "Making us feel such deep fear that we can't stop trembling our hands, just how was he able to do that?! I didn't even realize what I was feeling until you said it."

"My guess, is that it has something to do with his spirit." Mad Xi stated, leaning Back against a cement wall. "There's no other explanation. For him to not release his spirit when we were about to fight and yet causes our spirits to feel a deep pressure of fear from him, there's no doubt, his spirit must be a high level beast spirit that suppresses those of lower level beast spirits."

While although Mad Xi had acted as a hot blooded pervert when he confronted the Shrek Ten Commandments, he's the leader of his own team that had won themselves several consecutive wins; his intelligence and wits are not to be underestimated.

The others nodded in understanding and one of the twins with the monkey spirit said.

"That's probably the reason why old Hei here wasn't affected; because his spirit is a tool type spirit, there might not be a lot of sense in the world but the law of a prey and predator does. A high level tool spirit suppresses those of lower level, while those of high level beast spirit suppresses those of lower level." Old Hei, the spirit master with the disk type spirit, frowned.

"Question is however, what kind of a spirit does he have to suppressed several spirit masters with beast spirits at once?"

"A high level dragon type." Mad Xi bit his lower lip as everyone turned towards him. "Although it was for a moment, but I saw the phantom image of a red scaled dragon behind that skull masked spirit master."

"But wait, isn't his alias Flame Sword Emperor?" The other twin spirit master with a sheep type beast spirit interrupted. "Doesn't that mean his spirit is a sword? Is it a dragon sword perhaps?"

"...Or he has twin spirits." Mad Xi's words caused his teammates to freeze, their faces turning pale and grim.

Spirit masters in the entire continent are rare, 10 out of 100 people can become spirit masters. While those with twin spirits are even more rare, picture the entire population of spirit masters and only 5-10% of them have two spirits and those who have are considered geniuses that are guaranteed to reach Spirit Douluo or Titled Douluo with the right guidance and resources.

"Considering how he's the captain of his team, then I'm not surprise that he had twin spirits." The flirtatious woman dryly said. The others didn't say anything.

For the next few days, the Mad Battle Team wasn't seen around the Great Spirit Arena due to unknown reasons.

While Xiao Yan and his team celebrated their first team battle in the Spirit Arena and won, albeit disappointingly.

In the next 31 days, Xiao Yan and his team continued bullying–fighting in the Great Spirit Arena till they unexpectedly earned enough points to guarantee them to silver spirit fighter badge.
