Dream Life

Lesson 39: The Guardian

The afternoon of October 3rd.

I was supposed to work with a woman named Beatrice Labal.

She was a third-degree adventurer and decided to do a mock fight on the condition that she would be her guardian if she admitted it.

The Alliance's training grounds, like those in other cities, are about twenty m x thirty m in size. About ten adventurers and mercenaries inside encouraged training.

Beatrice grabbed an affordable training spear hung on the wall and said, "I hear you're a magic swordsman. That's a pretty good arm, too," he says, pointing to the wooden sword on the wall.

I chose a well-balanced wooden sword and stood about ten meters from her. And he said, "What do you do with magic?," he asked.

She grinned sparingly, "At this distance, it seems like it would be difficult just to cast a spell normally. I'll let you shoot me first," he said. Are the adventurers who were training also aware of Beatrice's prowess, laughing with an equally spare look?

(That's a licked one. I didn't expect a magician to shoot me first...... that said, I can't let you get hurt, so I can't use flame-based magic. It's a little bit to show original magic too...... no, on the contrary, maybe you should show original magic and surprise me)

I say, "Then let me attack first," and I start casting the spell of my best magic, Swallow Winged Blade (Swallow Cutter).

"I am the god of the wind (Wentus) who presided over many of the winds of" Again ". Give me a swallow of heavenly blades. I will not give you the power of my life. Dance! Swallow Winged Blade (Swallow Cutter)!"

A clear magic sword flies out of my right hand. I raise the swordfish big and cast the same spell even more.

In about five seconds a second swordfish appeared, this time headed towards Beatrice to crawl on the ground.

I targeted a simultaneous attack by two swordfish.

Previously, when I asked Sharon how to control swordfish, I realized that autonomous control was possible. It takes time to activate the magic, but after activation, I just need the magic to maintain the swordfish, and then it flies on its own. In other words, it was only at the time of activation that we needed mental concentration, and as long as it was over, we thought we could shoot another magic.

Beatrice had an intriguing look at the magic she'd seen for the first time when I put out my first swordfish. But when that swordfish starts dancing near the ceiling of the training ground, it turns into a surprising look at what it does. And when I give out my second sword, that look turns to amazement, "He says it's multiple simultaneous activations of magic!" He was screaming.

I was laughing in my heart at that look.

(I was cautioned when I allowed the sorcerer to pre-empt the attack. I'm not going to hurt you, but do you want me to be more surprised)

After I put out my second sword, I immediately hung the magic fights on my legs and packed the distance at once.

Here's my operation.

Let the swordfish of the first swallow wing blade (swallow cutter) swirl over the sky, while summoning the second swordfish. The first swordfish follows my first instructions and turns behind Beatrice in ten seconds, aiming at the back of his head. The second swordfish timed to aim at her knee from the side. In the meantime, he performs his own demonic martial arts and penetrates it from the front.

I mean, it's my operation to attack simultaneously from three directions.

Of course, I imagine the blade part of the swordfish won't sharpen so it won't be fatal. One of the reasons I chose a swallow cutter is that I can make these adjustments. These adjustments are difficult in fireballs (fireballs).

Beatrice panicked at first to attack the swordfish, but quickly understood the situation and took action.

She approached me to fly toward me as she nursed that I was targeting a simultaneous attack.

Now I'm supposed to panic more.

I was wary that he might come towards me. But the sharpness of her movements was far beyond my imagination.

Even though it's a giant close to two m, it instantly packs the distance as if it was played by a spring. I was slightly delayed in responding to that speed, which outpaced my demonic martial arts moves. Furthermore, my attack was untimed by this move, and the prospect of simultaneous tripartite attacks by two swordfish and myself collapsed brittle.

She avoided the looming swordfish from behind without even turning around and slammed the spear on the swordfish at an even more flying time. The magical swordfish was extinguished by that blow.

I was stunned by the move. Because I avoided the attack coming straight behind me at the perfect time, and even more because I anticipated that my swordfish would hang the attack again, hitting the lead and slapping it off.

(Without even looking back, how did you fit the timing of the swordfish coming? This is the best adventurer I've ever been told...)

That wasn't all.

With that momentum, she has stretched the wooden spear about two or five meters sharply, feeling like a bun. I managed to get off track by playing a blow fired at my face with a sword.

But that seemed to be her invitation. She immediately pulled back the protruding spear, releasing a thrust three times in a row. That speed was not the ratio of the first poke. I took one of those meteor-like punches to my stomach and was unnecessarily blown to the ground.

(Ouch! At times like this, the lack of protective equipment is tough...)

I vomited stomach fluids and things in my stomach, and I thought that as I punched around the ground.

But I wasn't left to be hit either.

One of my magical swordfish was hitting the back of her thigh. Beatrice glanced slightly, but he still couldn't get up and stuck a spear at me.

It hit the spot, but it didn't exactly hit the border of the protective gear, which was the first aim, but it hit it firmly behind the thigh. If it's not a mock fight, and if it's as powerful as usual, my swallow cutter has the ability to pierce leather armor, so I wouldn't have gone as far as to hit it, but I would have paid off with one arrow.

I spit out the sour stomach juice accumulated in my mouth again and tried to get the wooden sword up on my cane.

Beatrice's cheerfulness lurked the chirp until just now, he didn't speak a word, and he was looking down at me with cold eyes.

I stood up and looked into her eyes and said, "Do you want to play another fight? Without magic, too," he said invincibly.

She still didn't open her mouth and was just staring at me.

The adventurers, who had laughed with an extra look before it began, are equally silent with no expression.

I was worried that I'd done something awkward, and I said, "Well, that's it, okay?," he asked again.

Beatrice shook her head small and sideways, "Who are you?" and groans in a squeaky voice.

"I'm Zacharias Lockhart. Students at the Tilia School of Magic. Nothing more or less, though?

She shook her neck sideways again and squealed, "Oh,"

"It's been a long time. What surprised me so much... I'm sorry about earlier. I was licking your magic."

She's been apologizing for letting me shoot the magic first. And he said, "Now you can't laugh at Terry," and he laughed at me. The expression felt rusty and I liked it.

I said, "So, what do you want to do? Do you still want to do it?" I heard that with a smile.

She comes up with a spear, "Now without magic".

I nodded at it and secretly hung my demon martial arts on my legs and arms before slowly laying my sword.

(Demon fighting won't have to count as magic. Nevertheless, I hit it earlier and it's an unusual, void structure...)

In the end, it was unilateral after that.

She kept attacking me in a weird and free way, and I could never get into her nostalgia. I wondered if her spear had built a wall like a snake with a series of thrusts, and now it hits my body, twirling like a snake. The spear isn't actually bent, but it looks that way in the remnants too soon.

While rotating the body further, it also releases an attack on the stone, so that even leg strength reinforced by demonic martial arts cannot be approached at all.

Though he managed to receive it with a sword in the beginning, his body quickly becomes unresponsive, allowing spears to plunder his arms, legs, and even torso.

I tried weaving tricky moves such as foot payments and dust returns in an attempt to crack the situation, but such a blade attack was completely ineffective.

At the end of the day, I got a spear stuck in my throat and I let go of my sword.

I'm up breath, and I say, "Thank you," I bow my head. For the first time in a long time, I was able to receive instruction from a skilled martial artist, with words of nature and gratitude.

Beatrice finally laughs at my words and says, "It's not like I'm being thanked," and I figure it out.

"But are you really ten years old? You can do it without magic with the people behind you."

She said so in dismay, but immediately said, "I'll take care of the guardian."

But then he went on to say, "But there are conditions."

"Is that a condition? What are the conditions?

When I asked, Beatrice laughed niggly,

"What, it's easy. Just partying with me."

I said, "Huh? I didn't think," I raised my voice.

That would be so. Beatrice is a third-degree adventurer, a veteran adventurer. Yes, if a leading adventurer like Liddy here or Guy, Sharon's father, says he wants to party with a kid like me, it would be a normal reaction to be stunned rather than surprised.

I thought it might be a mistake to ask, "Can you say that again?," he asked in polite words.

She smiles fiercely like a beast again and repeats, "The condition to be a guardian is to party with me".

I struggled with understanding and asked Liddy in a whisper, "What do you mean?" But Liddy turns to him "if you like". Apparently, I bent my navel for asking her to guard me.

I'm in trouble.

"Is it permanent to have a party? Or does that mean I'll try to put it together once?

"I'm basically a solo. But I liked you. I thought it might be interesting to take a closer look at what was going to happen."

I'm about to leak. Sigh.

"I'm basically a college student. Every day, you can't go into the woods, and I'm not going to suit your convenience. So if you're calling it a permanent party, let me just say that we didn't have this story."

When I refuse to party with Beatrice, the adventurers around me sigh.

I don't know the details, but it looks like a lot of people want to pair up with her.

Likewise, Beatrice gets a surprise look, and then turns into a frightened look.

"You don't know, but I still have a lot of money to deduct."

Then, he clasped his shoulder with a tremendous hand gesture and said, "You're shaken."

"Fair enough. Well, sometimes there's a group of people out there."

When I snort at it,

"I got it. Mr. Beatrice will be your guardian."

I bowed my head deeply to her, "Say hello."

After the training ground, Beatrice started talking about becoming my guardian at the guild reception.

Tina, the receptionist, hears that Beatrice will be my guardian, and she's circling her eyes.

Beatrice had taken out her orb - a demon prop for ID - and had begun the process.

And he invited me, and he said, "Get the orb out". I take the orb made in Rasmore Village off my arm.

Tina looked at my orb and told me, "This orb can be used to register adventurers". When asked in detail, in the case of orbs made in villages, it is often an inexpensive version with little information that can be registered, and sometimes information as an adventurer cannot be transcribed. In that case we have to make a new orb. But the Rasmore Village stuff looked pretty decent and Tina was a little surprised to hear she registered in a small village.

(I wonder if Master Ji even thought about this and put in solid equipment. It would have been pretty hard when I was poor......)

I now have the Orb of the Mage Guild and the Orb of Rasmore Village, so with the addition of the Orb of the Adventurer Guild I will have three. I was thankful to my grandfather for what I had done with two things.

Tina was briefed on the Adventurer Alliance at the reception.

I heard it from Liddy, and it was all I already knew.

An Adventurer Alliance is an adventurer's mutual aid organization.

The headquarters are located in Periclitle, which has passed on its way here, and was originally said to be an organization created under the dominance of commercial guilds in order to efficiently eradicate demons appearing in the streets and near the city.

Therefore, while the Adventurer Alliance mainly deals with the extermination of demons, pests, etc., it also takes advantage of the characteristics of the Adventurer, such as collecting medicinal herbs, ore, etc., so if requested, it deals with them. There are also other investigations of ruins and demons in the woods, but mercenary guilds handle mercenaries and other escorts, so they are not dealt with in Adventurer's guilds. This division of residence has to do with the way we rank it later.

The Adventurer Guild not only mediates in various requests from clients to adventurers, but also buys medicinal herbs and demonic sites collected.

commission, but 20% of the total is guild fees and 30% is taxed. However, the discounted amount is used as a reward from the outset to make it easier for adventurers to understand. It's a sense of deduction, just like salaried taxes.

If the request fails, you need to pay the guild double the compensation - the same amount as the client pays - but this is because the guild compensates the client for the failure. For this reason, requests are often not made to those who seek to receive requests that are not commensurate with their strength.

In addition, if the annual remuneration does not reach a thousand kronas = about one million yen, the shortfall should be paid to the guild. If it cannot be paid, it will be removed, but this is a measure not to be used to evade taxes, as the Alliance is representing the payment of taxes. Incidentally, in the general city, citizens other than adventurers and mercenaries are levied nearly 50% of their income as taxes, and adventurers will be treated as tax advantages.

Adventurers have a tier of 10 ranks from the first to the tenth, but the rank does not limit the requests they receive. Rank only shows the adventurer's contribution to the guild, not a simple strength. For this reason, there is nothing wrong with a level 10 adventurer receiving a level 1 equivalent request. Of course, there is talk of the aforementioned penalty, so the Alliance rarely permits requests that do not fit your height.

In order to increase the rank, it is necessary to accomplish 100 requests set at the same rank as the current one. This counts as the same one whether you take it at a party or individually.

Achieving a request for a rank higher than your rank counts as enough times, and two counts as one hundred times. This means that if you succeed in requesting two higher ranks, you will be ranked up in one shot.

Mercenary guilds, on the other hand, have the same rank from first to tenth level, but this one is divided almost exactly as strong because it is simply classified at the swordsman and archer levels, which are said to be occupational levels.

It's this difference, but simply put, I'm just thinking about convenience on the part of the client. If adventurers exterminate demons, they may use traps as well as weapons and magic to kill them. The level of an adventurer using a trap is difficult to ascend, so if you put it on a level basis, the adventurer who said this is not appreciated. In other words, they reflect a voice that says it's easier to see how many requests you've made than a simple level comparison.

On the other hand, in the case of mercenaries, the main thing will be to protect the client rather than hunt demons. It is not for a specific target, as it is for a request to an adventurer, but is required by a powerful person who can deal with any situation. Therefore, they say that the level of strength is better suited to the needs of the client. It is easier to say whether it should simply be a level, if the client asks for it, it would have been wider. For this reason, they divided it into ranks.

Tax advantages for adventurers and mercenaries, plus freedom of movement across borders. For that matter, a high degree of discipline is required.

If an adventurer or mercenary commits a felony, it is common to be immediately removed from the guild and further dropped into criminal slavery. Anything other than a heinous crime such as murder, injury or robbery is punishable at the discretion of the Alliance Branch. They sometimes force them to work and pay back, for example if they cause damage to their opponents, using a magic prop called a collar of slaves.

Also, if you commit an act that breaks a contract at the time of joining an Alliance, such as intentionally committing a murder, robbery, or deliberately committing a breach of contract, that information will remain in the Orb, so if you check the Orb, you cannot hide the crime.

This is the same as rebuilding an orb, said to keep that record on his demonic crystal stone, but I don't know because the truth is it's not public.

This is what I now know about the Adventurer Alliance and the Mercenary Alliance.

Information is added to the orb made in the village of Rasmore in a matter of minutes.

When I received it, Beatrice took one half silver coin (five C (krona) = five thousand yen) out of her pocket and paid the registration fee. I thought I could pay for it myself if it was about 5C and offered to "pay for it myself".

But she shakes her neck sideways and doesn't take it by saying, "Don't scratch the shame on your guardian".

"Now you're a level 10 adventurer. If it's a normal city, you'll be asked to join your guardian, but this city is special. If you're a monster you've hunted yourself, you can come and report as you like."

Beatrice puts a pong and a hand on my head when she says so.

"Now that we're done registering, is there anything you want to ask me?

So I cut out about Sharon. I'm the only one who can be an adventurer and she's the only one, because somehow I felt sorry for her.

While turning down Beatrice's offer to throw a party, I thought it would be a good idea to do this kind of favor, but I thought I'd just say it.

"My friend has a magician named Sharon. He's ten years old, like me, but he's already a magician of level nineteen wind attributes. Can't we have her as her guardian?

Beatrice shook her neck sideways and said, "I need to see what I can do," he said.

I do think you're right, "Right. I'm sorry," he apologizes.

She kept her hand on my head, peeking into my face,

"Can't you handle that tough way of talking? I talk to Lydiane normally. I want you to talk to me the same way."

I steal Liddy. She was pointing at it like she said she didn't know.

"Copy that. Bye, Beatrice. Call me Zach, not you. Here's the deal, okay?

When I said that, she nodded satisfactorily, "That's fine".

I became an adventurer when I was only ten years old.

I was able to become an adventurer, a classic fantasy. I forgot about the bullying at the academy on that fact and I was biting my joy.

After leaving the guild branch, Liddy spoke in a grumpy voice.

"I knew you wanted to get along with beauty. She's the beast you're interested in, and that tail. I've been staring so hard."

I tried to argue "it's a misunderstanding, it's" but she attacked me even more.

"When you first saw your face, you were in love. She's a beauty with a pungent feel, and she's the type who's not around you. And those breasts. Guys like big tits, so they can't help it."

When I silence myself that whatever I say is futile,

"Fair enough. He doesn't seem like a bad guy, and if you're in this city, you should have a connection with that type of guy."

Looks like Liddy was thinking the same thing about me. But it looks like I was just bending my navel because I was stretching under my nose - only from her point of view.

I go around in front of her and stare into her eyes with a serious look, "The person who does my demonic crystal stone is Liddy," he said. He gave me a slightly shy look at the words and smiled, "I know," he said.
