Dream Life

Episode 52: The Black Leopard Hunt

Tria calendar year 313, January 2.

Yesterday, from January 1st, Beatrice will be living with us, and yesterday she moved.

When I said moving, I was basically an adventurer for an inn residence, and I didn't have that much luggage. But still, by saying I've been staying in the same inn for over a decade, I had enough luggage to hold alone.

The three of us are helping, and the baggage will be ready by New Year's Eve afternoon.

All I had to do was buy my own dishes, etc., but for the time being, I was going to get them to use something for visitors.

The good thing about living with you is that you can easily decide what you plan to do in the woods. The inn where Beatrice was staying was close to the Adventurers Guild and more than a km away from our house. For this reason, during the delicate weather that was likely to rain, it was necessary to go to that point of contact.

If we live together, we can get breakfast while we can adjust it, so there's no trouble.

And I was supposed to go into the woods this morning.

We're in January, but it's been a sunny day here lately, and there's no snow. Compared to the village of Rasmore, the area is also weakly chilled, and even if I asked Beatrice, who has lived there for about fifteen years, to the extent that there is snow hanging between mid-January and mid-February, there is not much in the way to get into the woods. However, the situation changes as we continue through the woods to the Saeum Mountains. It means that the snow mixes with the strong cold winds that blow down the mountains, and you'll need some pretty harsh cold gear.

Today's goal is Black Panther.

This time the Alliance has received an urgent crusade request.

It's this black leopard, but it's the same name as the black leopard on Earth, but you can say it's something else.

The same goes as far as the pitch-black fur and the supple body cat family, but the size and aggressiveness of the body are completely different.

The black leopard here is about 3m long, except for the tail, and it feels like it has made the tiger on Earth about two turns bigger. Sharper, longer nails are so powerful that they are said to tear metal armor apart, and they are good at breaking the signs. Despite its giant, it is good at surprise raids from trees and grass, and if at all alarmed, it easily wipes out even a party of five or six. For this reason, it is considered a quaternary equivalent demon.

It became an urgent request for the Alliance because a black leopard, usually supposed to be in the mountains, appeared near the city. Two residents have been badly injured, although they entered the North End yesterday New Year's Day and no deaths were reported.

By referring to it as an emergency request, more than six adventurers were hunted out with their faces on the guild. Sometimes referred to as the second day of the year, I was contacted by more than Level 3 adventurers in the city because I didn't get much more than Level 6. And that means our party with Beatrice had a voice, too.

In addition to us this time, six parties will participate and more than thirty adventurers will act together.

The overall command is dictated by Gerald, a second-degree adventurer, and his party is scheduled to dominate. But since the Black Panther is the opponent with good signs, it's an operation where each party disperses and hunts, and the main Geralds rush.

Gerald is a veteran swordsman about forty years old and uses the same bastard sword as I do.

A good, sun-burned face has a big scratch, which creates a swordswallowing atmosphere, but when we talk, we give people a fascinating smile they like. He's not that fit, but when I ask Beatrice, he says he's a swordsman with a good balance of speed and power. From the type, it could be close to my grandfather, Govan Lockhart.

His party, his others being third-degree adventurers, combines swordsmiths, magicians, archers - healers - a well-balanced party of a total of five magicians.

I never talked to Gerald in person, but I was pretty excited to hear that we could get a request together this time.

Gerald came to us when he found out what Beatrice looked like.

"Beatrice's party will come with us. I have three magicians at your place, so I'm counting on distance support."

He didn't say anything in particular when he saw me and Sharon, and he treated me as one person.

I was surprised, "Can we have kids like us together?" I asked.

"You guys are level six, aren't you? Then it's a one-man adventurer. And the magic arm is tattooed by the academy, right? Show me what you got up to grade six in a month.“ True Darkness Little Devil Swordsman. "

Called by those two names, Gerald laughed out loud when I looked blatantly disgusted.

"Hahaha! Sorry. I didn't think you'd look so bad. Well, whatever it is, thank you. Tigress Rider. Kukuku......"

I'm flattered by the two names that don't have the product.

I thought it was the behest of those who had a crush on Beatrice, but I accidentally stuck it in my heart.

(... Dude, I'm a "horseman”. Still, if I'm not on it, I'm not even on it...)

Gerald had no shade and humidity, seemed refreshing in character, and he didn't feel malicious when teased. But Beatrice bites those two names.

"What does that mean, Gerald? You can't just laugh about it."

Beatrice stares at Gerald with a murderous eye and sticks a spear down his throat. Then Gerald raises his hands laughing like he's surrendering.

"I've“ dropped ”you. I'm just paying tribute to Lord Brave. Think of it as the seclusion of a man who doesn't."

Beatrice tried to say something more, so I opened my mouth first.

"I don't care what they say about me, but I can't miss the insult to Beatrice. Apologize to her."

With that said, we gather the power of the Spirit. Then the sorcerer at his party who was behind him rushes in between.

And towards me and Gerald,

"Boy, don't try to shoot magic in here...... Gerald, this boy is serious. By and large, you always have a lot to say. Apologize now... Boy, you too, stop collecting magic!

I ignore the magician's words and cast spells.

"God of Fire (Ignis), who commands fire. Your family, the fierce flame of the Spirit..."

Then Gerald said, "Okay, okay. I'm sorry. I apologize," he says, bowing his head.

I stopped chanting spells and unleashed the power of the collected spirits.

"And he's a noisy kid, not what he looks like. I didn't know you were going to let the magic go in here. If Rufus hadn't noticed, he might have burned black."

A magician called Rufus said, "You really have a lot to say. This kid is a genius with all his attributes. Think a little more and act..." he keeps saying novels.

I said, "I'm sorry. Because I've got blood on my head," he lowers his head.

Of course, there was blood on my head, but I wasn't seriously willing to shoot magic. It's just that Beatrice was seriously mad, so he just hit the lead. Beatrice was lowering her spear with a face like she had been drained of poison, as per my operation.

As Gerald scratched his head,

"No, I had a lot of words for that one right now. Beatrice, I'm sorry. Looks like we're a little too busy."

Beatrice turned that way, "You should know," but her face was a little red if it was lit.

"And boy, no, you were Zach. You have no surprise. [M] I'm guessing you took the lead before Beatrice blew up, huh?

"No, I meant it. Whether or not it works for Mr. Gerald in the second degree, he was going to shoot in a prison flame spear (Hellfire)."

I said that with a serious look on my face, and then I blew it out,

"I don't want to be giddy to take requests with you now."

Gerald peels his eyes off for a moment when he hears it's a spear of prison flames, but laughs out the same way I laughed.

And slapping me on the shoulder,

"He's funny. Beatrice finally figured out she wanted to throw a party."

So I laughed at Beatrice.

Somehow the place was soothing and I was horrified that Gerald's party seemed like a good place to work.

Around 9 a.m., we leave before the Adventurers Guild and head to the North District.

Estimate where you are likely to be lurking from the witness testimony and head over there into the woods.

Gerald's party walks forward, and we continue in the order of me, Sharon, Liddy, and Beatrice. When it comes to winter forests, there are many trees and thick trees that do not work the prospects. But the deciduous leaves are falling, and for that matter, the sunlight enters, which is brighter than in summer or autumn.

We walk in the woods, guarding our surroundings.

The other five parties are also near here, but due to the situation in the woods, the speed at which they proceed is inconsistent and we do not know which neighborhood they are in. For once, we must be at the center of the enemy network.

As a means of communication, a whistle had been loaned to all parties. The party that found the black leopard buys time while the whistle goes off and signals. Other parties were supposed to rush towards the sound of that whistle.

It's in the woods where the cold winds blow through, but after an hour of walking, you get sweaty. Take a breather while reviewing the search area and checking the general map.

Gerald said, "You don't have any footprints. Well, roughly, I got to the planned position, but I don't know what to do," I said, and I heard a tall whistle called Pee.

The direction I heard was on the southwest side. I don't know the distance, but it sounds pretty clear, so it doesn't seem that far apart.

Gerald said, "Let's go!" and commanded him sharply, and we immediately followed him.

The whistle sounds intermittently heard many times, but it is difficult to grasp the direction to echo the trees in the woods. The veterans stopped again and again to see if they were like me.

Running enough, I suddenly couldn't hear the whistle.

Still, we keep running toward those who were whistling.

Me and Sharon's breath rose without strength, but I followed desperately to get to the scene as soon as possible.

Then I arrived at the scene in a few minutes.

There were only five unbroken bodies of adventurers left.

The five bodies were torn apart from each leather armor and all had severed carotid arteries. The area is filled with the smell of iron blood.

"Shit! Even these guys get hit... Grade 6, but they were the ones who could use it there..."

Gerald muttered so, "Watch your surroundings! They should still be close by!" and ordered vigilance.

I was looking at five victims.

(You're in your mid-twenties or so. One swordsman and one archer at a time... sounds like a complete surprise attack. The archer's bow is broken, so you didn't even have time to pull out your sword... and it's a sharp nail. Leather armor is slit like paper......)

We're slowly in formation like the avant-garde surrounding the rear guard, guarding the perimeter.

I'll explore the signs, but I can't feel them at all.

Liddy, Beatrice and Gerald are exploring the signs in the same way, but they don't seem to feel it.

"You can see we're away from here. We'll wait for another party to come and collect the body later."

I was wondering if this would be okay in a dispersed situation.

And when you ask Beatrice about it,

"That's certainly not a good situation. The others will be gathered here, so why don't we talk about it once?"

Other parties will be hearing the whistle, so it should be time to show up. If that's what you think, the whistle sounds like in the woods again. Now it's pretty close from the northwest.

Gerald's "Let's go!" Everyone heads over there with a signal. While I was running, I was thinking about the actions of the Black Leopard.

(Obviously this one is going around the back. Rather than, I don't think the enemy's movements are demons. It is intended to kill no matter how you look at it. Or were you gonna go back to eating later?

Running for about five minutes, I heard screams mixed with the whistle sounds.

Over the small hilly ups and downs, there was a giant black cat beast about to cleave the swordsman with his nails.

The swordsman protrudes his sword to prevent his nails, but the supple yet powerful black leopard blows him with every sword.

There are two swordsmen and one archer down around, just one safe archer keeping an arrow on his watch, exploring the timing of shooting.

Me and Sharon, Liddy and the three of them started casting spells.

All three chose wind attribute magic, me and Sharon unleashed a swallow wing blade (swallow cutter) and Liddy unleashed a whirlwind blade (windblade).

Liddy's windblade approaches quietly from directly behind the black leopard. When he thought he was going to hit him, the black leopard didn't look behind him, but he jumped about 2m up directly and avoided Liddy's magic.

I hear Liddy's "lie," but me and Sharon's swallow cutter head straight for the black leopard. As a precaution, I unleashed another shot, a swallow cutter.

My first shot hit near the back leg of a flying black leopard. Sharon's swallow cutter hits near the rear leg in the same way.

I said, "Okay!," he exclaims in his heart, "but at the next moment he is stunned that no damage has been done to the black leopard at all.

The swallow cutter is a magic pursuit of speed and maneuverability, and certainly not as aggressive. But with a decent hit, he had the power to break through even the thick skin of a bear.

That has done no damage to the Black Leopard at all this time.

A second magical sword approaches the black leopard even while I'm stunned.

The enemy, who has already landed and is on alert, has turned towards us.

The black leopard looked at my swallow cutter and tried to dodge it just before it hit him. But my magic, with its tracking function, sticks brilliantly in its face.

Magic on the nose, black leopard jumped up like a gang.

Nor did Black Leopard seem to think magic would change direction. I am roaring alot because I was attacked where I thought I had completely avoided it. The black leopard, licking his nose with a bright red tongue, turned his angry, sharp eyes at me.

There's something cold flowing down my spine.

But in the meantime, Geralds and Beatrice were headed to the Black Leopard to launch an attack.

Black leopards also instinctively figured out who they were rehearsing, not fighting, but jumping directly beside them and trying to escape into the woods.

At that time, an arrow unleashed by Gerald's party archer pierced the right flank of the black leopard. Exactly couldn't seem to play the strong bow arrows used by third-degree adventurers.

Still shallow wounds, the black leopard moves little and flees through the woods. I unleashed a flaming shell (Fire Cannon) forward to stop the enemy from legging.

The black leopard notices the magic, but decides not to hit himself, and he didn't try to avoid it.

That was my aim.

The fire cannon hits a large rock in front of the black leopard and explodes making a noise called Don. The black leopard burst slightly into the shock and splashing flames, and his leg stopped.

Liddy and Sharon didn't miss that opportunity.

Liddy thought the bow would work better than magic and was releasing an arrow. Sharon was also reading my intentions, just before the black leopard stopped, releasing an air hammer (air hammer).

Liddy's arrow stabs him in the right hind leg, and shortly after that Sharon's air hammer blows off the body of the black leopard.

The blown black leopard twisted his body in the air and landed without falling.

But that time was deadly.

Gerald's party magician Rufus' unleashed Ice Column Spear (Isicle Spear) pierces the leopard's left shoulder.

The black leopard still tried to escape into the woods. But Beatrice and Gerald, two members of his party, had already captured the black leopard in the offensive range.

The wounded black leopard is stripped of his bragging mobility, staring at the Beatrices with hatred before moving on to the attack.

He showed so much instantaneous power that he didn't think he was wounded, he jumped on Beatrice.

Beatrice calmly steps to the left to squeeze the spear in. Further to the landing, Gerald and the others attacked and the black leopard threw up blood and fell.

In the end, I just unleashed my magic and didn't join the melee. If I had joined, I know it would have resulted in pulling their legs, but honestly I would have liked to have joined the fight at all, considering raising my swordsmanship arm.

Though the adventurers who were attacked this time were seriously injured, treatment was given to me and Liddy, the archer and healer of Gerald's party, and no one died.

And a knocked down black leopard, but in Gerald's and Rufus's opinion, it was a mutant species. Very rarely can a significantly more capable demon be born, which is called a mutant species. This time the individual seemed highly resistant to intelligence and magic.

(I was obviously enjoying killing this move. No, should I say I was tasting people's blood? Is that like “Brazilian Cat” from a book I used to read? Once I know a person's blood, I feel like I'm going to keep killing them... and yet, is this all I can do, equivalent to a fourth degree? No, he's a mutant this time, so maybe it's equivalent to a tertiary level)

The other adventurers have joined one another. Gerald ordered the bodies of the five dead adventurers to be transported to the city, as well as skinned from the bodies of the dead black leopards.

"This guy's fur sells for a good price. It would be a little bonus, especially since it's a mutant species"

I thought five people were dead.

But neither Liddy nor Beatrice seem to care. Let them say that adventurers are self-responsible and should not take dangerous requests if they are not confident of survival. If I wasn't sure about this emergency request, I could have taken it. Worst of all, you could be penalized for ranking down, but not enough to multiply your life.

On his return, Gerald called out to Beatrice.

"Surely your party isn't half as aggressive as it sounds. It's time for the boys to go to the mountains."

"Oh, I'm thinking I'll do that in the spring," Beatrice replied.

(Mountain or... if a guy like this one is gobbling up, it's pretty dangerous, but it seems more efficient than in the woods right now to level up. Maybe you could take it seriously......)

In the end, the skin of the black leopard sold at 500C (krona) (= 500,000 yen), shrugging before a share of 20C per person.

We'll pay 100C for the emergency request at level six, so an extra bonus of 20C would be a fair amount.
