Episode 53: The Mystery of History

Even after the beginning of the year, on the fifth and second days, I take Professor Raspade's classes and go to the woods on the other days.

I was repeating that.

Professor Raspade's classes, although the subject was previously decided by the professor asking questions, these days lectures often begin in the form of questions I ask.

This is what I looked like when I themed composite magic.

"I read in a library book before, does compound magic not exist?"

When I hear that, the professor asks me what I think before answering, as usual.

I spoke my hypothesis.

"In conclusion, I think it already exists. Isn't the magic formation the most typical example of this?

The professor said, "You can't always say that. First, would you explain your definition of composite magic," he urges.

"Composite magic, in my view, means magic that allows multiple attributes to interact and interact simultaneously, and cannot be done with one attribute."

I said, "What does that mean?" When asked, the professor took out a book and began explaining it.

The professor began explaining the magic formations depicted in the traps found in the old ruins.

It was a part of the magic prop that reacted to light attribute magic, checking its presence, removing the key clasp with metallic magic if it could be checked, and if it could not be checked, sending air in with wind attribute magic to fly the blower arrow.

I saw it and thought it was an automatic control device made of sensors and simple logic circuits, but as far as its magic formation is concerned, it is not activated in parallel (parallel), but in series (series).

"... the magic formations have determined the order of power of the Spirit that will be needed. So the magic team doesn't activate them at the same time."

"So, as the book says, does that mean there's no composite magic?

"You haven't discovered anything of your definition," the professor replies with pleasure.

When I ask, the professor says, "You used it, too," and laughs.

I don't know what I'm talking about, and when I ask for an explanation of what it means,

"I'm not a wind attribute, so I can't use it to show it, but the Great Storm (Tempest) was originally a larger tornado of blades (Tornado Slash). Wasn't the magic you used a vacuum blade, an ice blade?

I still didn't know what the professor was trying to say. Because Tempest imagined a major winter storm and thought it was magic to slash and tear fine ice grains into blades.

When I tell the professor about it,

"That's close to the water attribute Snow Storm (Blizzard). Blizzard is more of a whirlpool than a whirlpool, but the fact that you spray ice with the wind and slash and tear resembles your tempest. Well, Blizzard focuses more on attacking at low temperatures than slashing and tearing with ice."

And start explaining compound magic.

"Your tempest is a composite magic of water and wind attributes. In my imagination, I first made a tornado out of wind attributes, then created an ice blade. That's what you looked like to me."

It does activate magic with the professor's image, but there was no sense of compositionality. To be honest, I wasn't thinking particularly deeply because that's what the image of Liddy told me.

"So what about the earlier snow storm (Blizzard) or flame storm (Firestorm)? It also looks like compound magic."

"Perhaps we could call it a composite. However, both are phenomena that occur naturally, but your tempest is different. If you don't have two attributes, I don't think you can create magic..."

In the professor's explanation, both Blizzard and Firestorm were magic that could be done with a single attribute, and rather than composite, they were merely imitating natural phenomena and actual events. It is a phenomenon that is actually present, which makes it possible that the Spirit is easy to understand and assists the Spirit of the attributes of the Lord.

Meanwhile, my tempest, but intentionally making blades out of ice and adding them to tornadoes is something different from normal magic.

"Does that mean that the magic that intentionally combines the two phenomena is compound magic?

After the professor said the meaningful words, "I may, but I may not,"

"We haven't even decided on a definition for that. I wonder if there's a theoretical presence of undefined objects."

There is magic called the Ice Column Spear (Isicle Spear), which makes spears out of ice and throws them with magic, but not with magic to make wind and fly. How far it magically reproduces changes the definition. The professor seems to want to say that the definition is ambiguous.

Meanwhile, in practical skills, there has been a lot of assistant to the professor's research.

The most treasured part of the job I'm being given right now is the metal discernment.

We will look at what the metal under investigation is and, in the case of alloys, what percentage of the metal is.

The subject to be examined is the excavation that the professor gets, many thousands of years old.

And why I'm treasured, because there are so many unnamed elements in this world that the professors can't tell, but I can tell.

Dozens of metals, such as gold, silver, copper, iron and lead, bear names, but not uncovered or extracted metals, such as nickel or aluminium. This is what makes impurities so difficult to discern.

Specifically, metallic magic is the magic of analysis (analytics) that examines metal percentages and the like, but in the case of elements unknown to the operator, it is assumed that everything is turned upside down and “unidentified (annon)".

In my case, I remember to some extent the "reference” of special skills and the periodic table of elements that do not exist in this world, so I can almost discern even when there is a mixture of unusual elements. And since we will give appropriate names to elements that have not yet been named in this world, the work is progressing. However, if I discern all the points I know, the professor is suspicious, so I limit myself to a few types, such as chromium and nickel, which are major.

The names Chrome and Nickel came up here for a reason.

There was stainless steel in the ancient ruins.

In the professor's opinion, it is more than 3,500 years old B.C. stuff, and is often excavated as a container. Other than that, stainless steel boards contain letters that are now indistinguishable, and we are studying whether that is a magic prop.

In addition to this, there were aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, titanium alloys, etc., and the lost civilization seemed to possess fairly advanced metallurgical "Yakien" technology.

They showed me the letters, but they seemed like hieroglyphics, something I had never seen at all.

When I helped with this research, I was concerned and asked the professor.

That's why the memories of the past of about 3,500 years have not been inherited when there are elves with long lives and dragon men who are said to have virtually no life expectancy in this world, etc.

Regardless, the dragon man, in the case of the elves, is demographically well numbered and lives in moderate dispersion. Their life expectancy is roughly ten times that of humans, from seven to eight hundred years, and some who live longer than a thousand years if they live longer. "What does that mean?

"In the old interior of the elf is left something BC, something that can be confirmed, about three thousand years old. It's just the inheritance since the beginning of history... but yes, there's no inheritance left before that. Suddenly, as our ancestors appeared. As those who lived before it were not there..."

I was listening to that story.

"I haven't done that research, but many of the magic props and formations have been around since prehistoric times. This is one of them."

That's what I say. I point to a container like an aluminum alloy attachment case.

"And interestingly, even if the same magic formation is depicted with the same magic props, only letters can be completely different. I mean, there's no law in the letters. Like it was deliberately rewritten. That's why no one's been able to decipher it. But the magic team is different. The letters written on the magic team are different, but the arrays, shapes, etc. are very much the same as ours."

I said, "Was the letter deliberately rewritten? Who..." he muttered.

"The answer hasn't come up yet. We've been doing research for almost 3,000 years, but we haven't been able to prove it by hypothesis."

"Is that a hypothesis? What is the hypothesis?

"It's not like it's a secret, but it's kind of better not to say it outside too much. If that's all right with you, I'll let you hear it."

I lost my curiosity and nodded.

"It means that God took his place three thousand years ago. God's substitution changed the logic of the world, the Proverbs, and the letters used before it were rewritten. To be precise, the hypothesis is that the world has been rewritten."

"Can the world be rewritten? I feel like I know somehow."

What I thought when I heard the hypothesis the professor said was the relationship between OS or the application and the data. For example, if an application such as a word processor that has been used until then is replaced by a whole other object, the data used in the previous application cannot be used at all unless it is compatible. If we change the whole operating system called God, we won't be able to use the data until then, or we'll turn it into something completely different. I kind of figured that out.

But the professor is surprised at my whining.

"Can you understand this story!

I thought I had, and I desperately thought of an excuse.

"No, I just thought that if God somehow took his place, I would change the world. The myth is that the gods created mountains, skies, people and animals, so it's not strange that what God created before that changed at that time."

The professor nodded at it,

"The group advocating the hypothesis now seems to have the same idea"

I thought I'd have trouble getting into this any more and decided to change the subject.

"But I don't think it's so funny if we're talking about it right now, why shouldn't we talk outside?

The professor gave him a rare, blatant expression of contempt,

"There is a teaching called Light Divinity in a country called Lukes. Its a light god, but he says Lucidus, God of Light, is the absolute god, and Lucidus created the world. So the theory that there was another god before the gods of today and created the world is an unforgivable heretical idea for them. If you ask me, I think they're more heretical than just one idea."

"I think so too. I doubt what Phototheistic is saying really speaks for God's word. The gods are trying to leave this beautiful world as it is today. There's no way the teaching that distorts it is the word of the gods."

"You say it the way you've met the gods," the professor laughs.

I thought I was gone again, but I didn't break my calm face.

"Yes, if you interpret the gods as the power of the Spirit, I always see the gods. The power of the Spirit, including the power of the Dark Spirit, is a powerful and beautiful object. Light is not the only thing that makes it special."

"That's a word I can say because it's you with all the attributes. Yeah, I get it. Really."

That's when I thought.

Didn't the gods go into crisis 3,000 or hundreds of years ago? And also, I was wondering if there might be a similar crisis looming.

I began to want to go and investigate the ruins. If my hypothesis is correct, I thought by looking at the ruins you might know what God is afraid of.

The story is quite off, but there is magic in metallic magic that says extraction (abstract) in addition to analysis. Magic capable of removing metals from iron ore and other ore, but difficult to extract in large quantities, so it is used to remove impurities from some refined ones.

At the professor's request, I was taking samples of several metals, including nickel, chromium and aluminum. That's when I discovered something interesting.

It contained very trace amounts of misrills and other magical metals in the alloy. At first I thought it was impure, but when I analyzed it, it included a certain percentage.

Speaking to the professor about it, after being very excited, he began to take notes without shaking his sides.

If you ask me later, I won't use magic metal as a magic prop material in current technology, but in the professor's opinion, it would be more efficient if used successfully.

I didn't understand why I was so excited. Because I felt that misrills and other metals were often used for magical tools that appeared in novels and such.

When I asked you about it,

"A magic prop consists of a magic crystal stone and a magic formation. Of course, we know that special metals such as misrills efficiently convey the power of the Spirit. So if we use this as a base, it's going to be more efficient, but it doesn't really make that big a difference."

I didn't know why, and I asked why.

"The reason is simple. Mithrills are very easy to pass through magic. In other words, when you gather the power of the Spirit through Mithril, it is released straight through Mithril. In other words, because it does not enter the Demonic Crystal Stone and circulates outside and inside the Mithril, efficiency does not diminish."

"So what the hell did you find out?

"I was using a very trace amount of misrills on the demonic props that were in the ruins. That means there's a way to use Mithril effectively. I heard you and flashed. [M] I was wondering if you wrote the magic team in Mithril."

The professor's hypothesis was that the power of the Spirit could be gathered more efficiently by using misrills like ink and drawing magic formations.

And they couldn't get to that hypothesis until now because there were too many indistinguishable substances in the alloy and they didn't realize that a polar trace of misrill was being used.

Mithril himself can discern, so I don't know why he couldn't find it, but he says taking out a very trace amount of it from a lot of impurities is similar to catching a fish in a large pond. If you turn it into a small vessel like "about," the fish can be easily caught. That's what they say.

I couldn't quite understand because I could take out certain substances even with a lot of elements mixed together.

When we actually analyzed only the part of the magic formation, we found that there was a high percentage of misrills. But now technology says you can't paint magic formations with misrills.

And an item was added about drawing magic formations with misrills on the professor's research theme.

I remember in Mithril, I didn't know what Mithril was. I didn't know exactly which cycle in the periodic table was the element that hit which race. When I analyze it, I somehow know the position of the contrasting periodic table, but I don't know about Mithril.

From the sense of analysis, titanium is closest, but subtly different. I didn't even know another famous magic metal, Adamantite, but this felt close to the chromium - such as molybdenum and tungsten. I guess I can't tell exactly because it's a substance that's not in the original world.

As for magic metals, they say that when used for weapons such as magic props, specifically swords, where people intervene, they can produce things like magic swords. By embedding magic formations and demonic crystal stones in the pattern of the sword and letting magic flow there, you can wrap flames and cold air around the part of the misril.

I was excited to hear this story.

Because I thought I might be able to get a magic sword.

But the professor tells me that magic swords and the like are very rare and rare to even see. Mithril itself is rare and expensive, but even a long sword made of Mithril can be bought for about tens of thousands of C (krona) (= tens of millions of yen).

They say there are few magic swords because there are few well-armed blacksmiths who can incorporate magic formations. Magic metals such as misrills and adamantites are difficult to handle in and of themselves and cannot be handled without being a leading blacksmith. It's even harder to incorporate magic formations and demonic crystal stones, and they don't start well unless you incorporate them when you strike a sword. In other words, a blacksmith with first-class arms, and without a wealth of magical knowledge, a magical sword cannot be created.

So even if the magic sword had been put up for sale, it would cost about one million C (krona) (= one billion yen) even for very expensive and cheap items.
