Dream System Of Seven Sins

Chapter 19 - Ye of Little Faith (7)

Mona's ears perked up from the sound of the door being opened. He didn't jump down from his perch because he knew it was not Eevie, he could tell and differentiate the elder woman's presence. Regardless, he still turned towards the entrance with disinterest on the off chance it was a potential customer.

The person who walked through the door was a lady in a professional pantsuit and her hair was swept up into a clean up-do. Since her face was turned away from Mona, he could not tell how she looked like and how old she was.

However, from the way she carried herself and the way she was dressed, she did not look like she could be a customer, perhaps she got the wrong door or she was there to collect the rent.

In any case, since she was not a customer, Mona was not going to waste any more time on her. When she realized there was no one there in the room but a lonely cat, she would leave on her own accord.

Just before Mona turned his head around, the woman's gaze which had been wandering all over the office settled on him briefly before it quickly flickered away. However, in that moment, Mona captured all the moment he needed.

"Those dark circles underneath the eyes, the droop in the shoulders. That's a potential client if I have ever seen one!" The black cat thought to himself.

He jumped down from his perch and meowed lazily. His sudden action caught the attention of the middle-aged woman who was about to turn to leave. She poked her head back in through the door to look at the cat.

When their eyes met, Mona's pair of dark eyes glistened like jewels in the dark. Pinprick of lights appeared in the inky pools of darkness like stars shimmering in the night sky.

The lady stood at the threshold of the office door as if hypnotized. She stared directly at Mona with a blank expression on her face.

Mona eventually turned his head around to look at the sofa he just deserted. As he did so, the woman walked into the office, closed the door quietly behind her, walked over to the sofa and sat down. She then slumped down in the chair and continued to stare at a spot on the ground like there was something impossibly interesting to her about that one particular spot.

Mona nodded with satisfaction and wandered away to find himself another cozy spot to curl himself in. It was then that the office door swung open once more.

Mona abandoned his plan to find himself a cozy spot and padded to the door with his tail swinging lazily behind him. This time he was confident it was Eevie who walked in and the cat's instinct had never failed him yet.
