End Of My Boring Life

Chapter 12 - I can't read!?

As Zed followed Linxe and Lenxe into the guild he could see many kinds of people there. Zed looked around and stood there in shock seeing many people who are carrying many different types of weapons.

There were ladies who seemed to be employees of the guild. The ladies seemed to be talking with adventurers and exchanging coins for crystals.

"Sir, Zed, we will be heading right there to collect our quest money," Linxe said as she walked towards some kind of exchange center.

"Alright, I will gather some information now," Zed said as he walked up to a lady who was at the front, and seemed to be helping adventurers.

Zed approached her after she was done helping the adventurers. "Excuse me, miss, can you please help me?" Zed asked. "Yes, of course, good sir and what do you need help with?" the lady asked.

"Miss, it might be a weird question, but has there ever been a case of a person coming from another world," Zed asked hoping she would say yes.

The lady smiled and said, "No, sir." Zed now had more things to worry about. He can't even tell others that he is from a different world. "I see...," Zed said as he let out a sigh filled with disappointment.

"Sir, are you an adventurer?" the lady asked. "Um, no," Zed said. "I suggest that you become an adventurer as you travel around you might be able to find more information," the lady said.

"Thank you, and how do I become an adventurer?" Zed asked.

"First, you will need a adventurers Identification card which will cost ten silver coins," the lady said. "But, I don't have any silver coins with me right now," Zed said.

"That's unfortunate, but maybe you have anything you can sell in order to get silver coins?" the lady asked. "Oh, yeah! I have ten goblin crystals with me!" Zed said as his happiness was expressed in his surprised smile.

"That's great then, Sir! Ten goblin crystals sell for fifteen silver coins," the lady said. "So, can I give it to you right now?," Zed asked.

"No, Sir. You need to go to the exchange counter right there," the lady said as she pointed her finger toward the front right of the guild. "Alright, ma'am thank you for your help!" Zed said.

"No, problem, Sir. It was my p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e to help you," the lady said as she smiled at

Zed. Zed smiled back at her and went towards the exchange counter. Zed reaches the exchange center and merges with the small line that was formed as others came to sell their crystals.

Finally, after waiting for two minutes in the line Zed reaches the exchange counter lady.

"How may I help you today, Sir?" the counter lady asked. "Oh, I want to sell ten goblin crystals," Zed said.

"Ok, may I have a look at the goblin crystals, please?" the counter lady asked. Zed handed over the ten goblin crystals to the counter lady.

After, taking the goblin crystals from Zed the counter lady placed the crystals in a metallic surface which seemed to be inscribed with magic circles.

The goblin crystals all started to glow at the same time. They glowed for two seconds and stopped and it continued on.

I wonder if that thing with magic circles is a device to make sure if the crystals are real or not, hmm, Zed thought in his mind.

"The ten goblin crystals will be ten silver coins, here you go, Sir," the counter lady said as she gave fifteen silver coins to Zed.

"One, more thing ma'am, which counter do I go to create a adventurers Identification card?" Zed asked.

"You just have to go to the counter next to mine," the lady said. "Ok, thank you," Zed said as he moved on to the next counter. This counter didn't have any people, so Zed got his way quickly to the counter lady.

"In order to create your adventurer's ID card, you will need to give me ten silver coins," the ID counter lady said. Zed gave the lady ten silver coins and the lady gave Zed a paper to fill out with all his information.

"Please, fill out this form. After, you are done bring it back to me," the lady said. "Um, ok," Zed said.

Zed looks at the form and realizes that he doesn't understand anything written on this form, Zed starts to feel depressed thinking to himself, how come I understand what they are saying and yet I can't read anything written in this world!? Zed asks himself feeling surprised at this fact.
