A ride away from the bandit camp

Looking at the two moons in the sky we waited till it was midnight to begin the operation. Honestly speaking I'm really nervous and excited at the same time on this mission. We sneaked out of the capital 2 hours ago using a teleportation circle built by the late royal mage 2 generations ago appearing in a cellar of some house near the bandit's hideout. There were actually already soldiers waiting there and we camped out and waited till it was time.

The plan was actually pretty simple. The bandits are hidden in some sort of abandoned mine and it seems that they fortified it with traps and such. We would pierce through their defenses using the cover of the night and the soldiers who specialized with disabling traps. There would be a mole waiting for us to guide us and we would be separated into two groups; the first group would be mostly composed of the soldiers led by the knight captain that is the leader of the operation and a defense specialist they would be the one targeting the bandits. While the second group is mostly composed of us heroes led by another knight captain from the local nobles who specialized in Wind Magic, it seems he uses it to increase his speed and piercing abilities, we will be targeting the supposed to be goblins.

When we started to set out Yamada who was beside me quickly vanished in the shadows replacing a raven made out of shadows. He started using his Incarnation Skills it seems and had been using it to scout around the perimeters, one time when I learned his ability I asked him why use raven as his base familiars and he merely stated; 'Their cool and I won't get sued by copyright by that elder brother who killed his whole family except his lil' bro.' which made me look strangely at him. He would also follow us and assist in disabling the sentries that might be waiting above the trees using his newfound skills in moving like some sort of ninja. The raven perched in my shoulder earning a stare from the unfamiliar soldiers we had.

When we were nearly arriving at the enemy camp bodies started to rain down from above us. I looked at the corpses but they only had a slit on the throat and they strangely did not make any noise when landing. My classmates started paling already and James had been tightly gripping his sword but he does not look away from the bodies which is commendable. Arriving at the hole, Yamada and some soldiers wearing dark leather armor is already waiting for us. It seems they had a small competition looking at Yamada who is pocketing some coins. Sighing at their antics the brown haired captain who had been silent since the beginning started staring at us younglings and said;

"I know that the world you came from is already at piece and there were few sensible killings happening. The heroes from your old generation marveled at the beauty of our world and fell in love with the sights. But as roses that have thorns, this world has a dark side more horrifying and savage than were you came from. This kind of mission is some sort of baptism to you guys who think such wonderful world. I pray that after this mission you would still have a positive outlook in our world and it's not just darkness that lurks around." – Knight Captain

Looking at the Knight Captain who bowed in front of us made me and my classmates a bit awkward. Even if back in our world majority of us experienced someone bowing to them but it still feels off if the person who is bowing is someone with such honor and especially not working for you. Helping him stand up James stated;

"Thank you, sir knight but even if what we see in that darkness is pure evil we will still love this world you care about. For the short time we are here we had seen the hospitality and smiles the people gave us. We may be inadequate to carry the title of heroes but we will still uphold the upbringing we had." – James

When all the drama is over we must still face reality. After calming our hearts and strengthening our resolves we entered the caverns that seemed to beckoning us to darkness…

Slashing the neck of the green goblin in front of me I felt a weird feeling. Looking around us my classmates has already started to not get dizzy and puking in front of this corpses and the killing we are doing. The boys are kinda had been hotheaded before due to one of my female classmate was molested by a goblin resulting it to turn into a chopped and crushed meat. Fl.i.c.k.i.n.g the blood off from my sword I took a deep breath smelling the stench of blood around me. I did not use my spear here for it's too impractical to wield such a long weapon inside such tight corridors and with my fighting style I might hit my team mates. It seemed that I was not the only one who felt something suspicious and even the green haired Felix the knight captain that had been leading us grabbed the neck of the mole who had been guiding us.

"Speak! Are you really sure this is the way where the women kidnapped by this lot are kept?" – Felix

"Y-yes I swear!! I saw the women being dragged here every time they are brought here!" – Mole

Holding the swears and curses Knight Captain Felix felt the situation really feels off, like there is something missing.

'S#it! This swarming and annoying goblins! Where the f.u.c.k are their nest is!' – Felix

"Gegegeig" – Goblins

"Goblins at the front numbering 6!" – Yamada

Were kind of lucky we had an excellent scout like Yamada here he can pinpoint the ambushing goblins and their amount. He saved us the trouble when they made a hidden hole collapse at our back at that time. After pushing ourselves a bit we arrived at a big cavern where stalactites is illuminating us from above. We did not have any leisure to look at such marvel of nature for a huge shadow is waiting in front of us.

"Oi… You got to be kidding me!" – Felix

5 minutes before, Bandit Side

Looking at the traitor's face I felt the boiling rage in me. Noticing my look, the bastard merely smiled.

"Well, well what do we have here an old friend visited this little old me~." – ???

"Shut up traitor! You had soiled your blood too much of the blood of our brothers!" – Knight Captain

"Hahahaha!!! Really!? Those snobs who were only doing such half-assed jobs!? Those pricks who did not even have a scant in talent even in swordsmanship!" – ???

"Really Leon! I knew you had been a bit arrogant before even getting apprenticed by the royal mage but those people you call snobs had saved your hide for countless times! They had families to return to!" – Knight Captain

"Don't mention that wench of a teacher in front of me Julius! They should had been proud for saving me those times hahaha! Also a family!? Fat chance I would had one! If that woman accepted me! I would also have had one!" – Leon

"The royal mage has already turned down you countless times! To be honest she already had that tired look every time you propose to her!" – Julius

"Lies! She merely can't accept a lowborn like me! I merely wanted her heart to accept me! But to be turned down countless times, I have been sick of it! At that time of the Hero Summoning if she did not had that look of anticipation I would had not accept their invitation!" – Leon

"You bastard! You collaborated with them!? Your going to turn yourself into an enemy of the world just because of a broken heart!?" – Julius

"Ha! It's not just my heart she broke but my dignity as a man also! If she loves those heroes so much let's see what will happen when she sees them as cold corpses!" – Leon

Noticing the strange wording of the betrayer Julius face paled and quickly rushed at Leon with his sword.

"Leon what did you do!?" – Julius

"*chuckle* Oh I merely left a small gift to them~." – Leon

Goblins

A staple of fantasy stories. Green short humanoid creatures with 10 – year old intelligence. A normal a.d.u.l.t can easily kill them. But it is recommended for a group of 5 to deal with them for they mostly hunt in packs and are cunningly vicious in their tactics. Discretion is advised in dealing with them. This kind of monster tends to kidnap other female creatures for reproduction and with their fast reproduction speed. They can quickly build an army in just a few months so a regular cleanup is necessary. Old rumors said they were a type of fae species before they were turned into such atrocious monsters but that is another story.
