Chapter 19

Jayna went close to observe the boy who had collided with her.

From his pulse, he seems to have passed out.

‘Fortunately, I didn’t directly hit him.’

He must have been swept away by the shock waves that occurred just before she fell.

As Jayna breathed a sigh of relief, those who seemed to be merchants from behind, ran forward only to widen their eyes.

“Not a wizard, but a kid?”

“It must have been an attack by an evil wizard!”

“Kid, are you okay? Did you get hurt?”

“Who put a spell on you?”

Jayna couldn’t keep her head up to the pressing questions.

‘Things may get bigger if it goes on like this’

Thinking that she had to deal with the situation somehow, Jayna decided to use Michael again.

“N-no….. I am a wizard. I’m sorry for making a fuss while learning magic under my Master, The Great Wizard.”

“You’re a wizard?!!”

Jayna nodded, looking around. Then, the merchants looked at each other with serious expressions.

‘I’m sure he’ll ask for damage compensation. What should I do? I don’t have any money in hand. Should I ask Michael-nim to lend me some? Maybe I can just pay him back by working under him.’

Jayna was still thinking hard when the merchants who gathered suddenly cheered

“Ah, the little wizard has caught the pickpocket!”

“To use magic at a very young age? I guess this Great Wizard’s disciple is different from  other wizards.”

Jayna blinked her eyes. She didn’t quite understand the situation.

What did they mean? A pickpocket all of a sudden?

Are you saying it wasn’t because of me that people were crowding?

“What is it now….?”

“Let me explain.”

As Jayna looked at the merchants with a puzzled look on her face, a boy walked out from the back of the group.

Based on his height, he is approximately 12 years old.

He has shiny tan hair and starry eyes that glistened under the light.

At a young age, his features were already distinct, and it was clear that he would become a handsome man in the future.

In a friendly way, the boy approached Jayna with a smile and thanked her.

“If you hadn’t helped me, it would have been a real disaster. It was the treasure of my family that the pickpocket stole.”

The boy held Jayna’s defenseless hand and kissed it briefly.

“May good fortune always be with you as the dawn of the morning. This is a blessing in my name.”

Jayna was puzzled. A kiss on the back of her hand all of a sudden, is he a nobleman?

“I’m Rosian. I can’t reveal my last name. I hope you can understand.”

However, all of Jayna’s questions disappeared the moment she heard the other person’s name.

‘Rosian?’

Jayna tilted her head because for she felt the boy’s name seems familiar.

“I don’t want to lie to my benefactor, but please understand.” (Rosian)

“No, it’s okay.” (Jayna)

“I can’t reveal my identity for some reason, but I want to repay you.” (Rosian)

Rosian loosened the pouch around his waist.

What came out of there was a bright gold coin. Jayna, who doesn’t know much about this world, know that it’s worth a lot just by seeing it at a glance.

“…..”

Jayna, who was staring at it, shook her head soon.

“No thanks.”

In her unexpectedly clear voice, Rosian paused for a moment.

However, Rosian soon smiled and handed over the gold coin again. He thought it was a common practice of modesty.

“Please don’t decline.” (Rosian)

“It’s only a coincidence that I caught a pickpocket.” (Jayna)

“Whatever the reason, it’s still a fact that you helped me.”

Jayna’s eyes gradually sank. Because she remembers her past life.

-We’ll go out for dinner. Buy something delicious with this money.

The money was on the table when she got back from school.

They also sometimes gave Jayna money, just because she is a ‘good’ child.

But it wasn’t out of goodwill. It was just to instill a sense of debt to help rationalize their ‘actions’ towards Jayna.

Jayna recalled those memories one by one, and she still hasn’t forgotten them until now.

‘I don’t like that kind of money anymore.’

She caught a pickpocket by an accident, and it wasn’t due to her own will.

She did not want to receive it unless it was fair and honorable money earned by her ‘self-will’.

“I learned from my mother not to send a benefactor empty-handed. I don’t think we can let it go like this.”

“Well, then this will be your first time.”

As the scuffle between the two continued, Rosian’s face became increasingly perplexed.

‘What’s this kid?’

Rosian didn’t understand the current situation.

As the son of Princess Elia and the Emperor’s grandson, he had already seen countless people since childhood.

People who want something and hoping for a reward for everything they do.

Rosian didn’t like them very much. Therefore, the relationship did not last long after giving one-time rewards.

For help, a reward.

It was a simple formula.

But the girl in front of his eyes didn’t want anything from him.

At first, he thought it might be because she was a little child and didn’t know much about the world.

But as he kept talking, he soon realized that it wasn’t the case. The way she talks and looks is as if she doesn’t care about the reward. It was an attitude that came from a clear perspective.

“Are you going to turn me into an ungrateful person?”

“But I don’t want to  receive things that I don’t like.”

The girl’s voice gradually dropped. It’s as if the current conversation is annoying.

‘Huh, are you saying I’m bothering you now?’

There were so many people who couldn’t talk to him.

What he was trying to repay and forget earlier, began to be a bigger event to him now.

However, the conversation couldn’t continue anymore.

It was because the disturbance across the street knocked on the sensitive senses of Rosian.

“This is a knight belonging to the Violet Knights. There will be a brief checkpoint.”

“Yes?”

“There’s someone we need to find urgently.”

Oops, Rosian swallowed the swelling inside him.

‘I’ve finally met someone that seems interesting.’

These days Rosian was living a boring life.

And it was kinds of his way to ease his boredom by secretly taking the national treasure while intending to lose it.

He failed to lose it thanks to the little girl who helped him.

But well it doesn’t sound so bad to be caught red-handed with the national treasure in his hands, be dragged away into the imperial palace, and be scolded by his mother.

‘I’m sick and tired of being called the successor.’

They said that he was the successor that would lead the next empire, that’s why he had to learn as much as he could as soon as possible, whether it’s swordsmanship or academic he always needs to excel.

And in order not to be caught in a society where all kinds of Machiavellianism* are rampant, he must always pay attention to his surroundings.

*(Machiavellianism is a personality trait centered on manipulativeness, callousness, and indifference to morality.)

It’s his responsibility and duty as an emperor’s son, even though he never thought of becoming the next emperor.

‘Damn the Imperial Family of Deliad. Damn Princess Elia’

Rosian, who was grinding his teeth with a subdued look, looked around and sighed.

‘Any further delay will lead to my arrest.’

And it was then.

Tu. Duk.

Suddenly, drops of water began to fall from the sky.

Raindrops also trickled down on Rosian’s smooth face.

“Oh, my God. It’s raining, isn’t it?”

“I can’t believe its raining. It’s a new dress.”

The sudden rain cause a lot of commotion.

Rosian stared straight ahead.

When he gazed at her again, he realized that the little girl in front of him was the only person to tug something in his heart.

Sreuk, Rosian took off his cloak without any hint of hesitation.

It may not be visible, but the color of the cloak was the same vivid ruby red as his eyes.

‘You would be able to recognize me with this, right?’

Rosian said in a voice of regret.

“I hope to see you again someday.”

Pulling down, Rosian put his cloak on Jayna’s shoulders.

The cloak is not very large, but Jayna is so small that the cloak remains large enough to cover her body.

“This….”

Finally, Rosian put the cloak’s hood over Jayna’s head.

“You’ll catch a cold if you get rained on.”

And Rosian without his cloak started to get soaked. His yellowish-brown hair got wet and began to darken.

Jayna, who could not refuse the cloak because it was given to her unexpectedly, tried to take off the cloak and give it back to Rosian.

“Let’s meet again, then.”

However, he was faster than her.

Tadak-

Rosian stamped his feet lightly, stepped in the middle of the high wall next to him, and disappeared in a flash.

People around him looked puzzled as he disappeared after several steps.

‘Why couldn’t he catch a pickpocket when he’s moving that fast?’

There was something else that Jayna couldn’t understand.

‘I still have something to say, but why did he run away all of a sudden?’

Jayna gazed where Rosian ran.

A long time has passed; Jayna has come to her senses by the warm warmth that is covering her entire body.

‘He wrapped it up so well in such a short period.’

As she looks around, people were running, embarrassed by the unexpected rain. Some had already given up and were trudging along with wet clothes.

In between, only Jayna was at peace.

“It’s warm.”

Jayna buried her face even deeper in the cloak. There was waterproofing and heat preservation magic on Rosian’s cloak.

Jayna raised her head slightly so that the hood wouldn’t come off. The rain was getting heavier, and it was unlikely to stop soon.

‘What is he up to?’

He looks a couple of years older than she is, but isn’t he still a child?

Whoo!

Jayna, lost in thought, raised her head. A familiar mana movement was felt around.
