Fenrir: The Wolf Overlord

Chapter 2 - Entrance Exam

Sorahiko Torino took his phone and dialed a series of number. A few seconds later, the call was connected.

"Gran Torino, it has been a while. How are you doing?"

"I am doing fine. How about you?"

"I am also doing well. So what is the occasion?"

Sorahiko let out a bitter laugh and looked at Cipher, who was right now silently meditating in another corner of the room.

"Yeah. It is just...I wanted my grandson to take the recommendation exam at your High School."

"Do you have a grandson?"

The voice on the other side of the call oddly sounded childish yet m.a.t.u.r.e at the same time. The person talking was the principal of U.A High School. His name is Nezu and he is one of the extremely rare case of an animal manifesting an quirk.

"I adopted him some 6 years ago. He has not completed elementary and middle school due to various reasons. But his intelligence is very high and his skills and powers are the same.

Others high schools won't accept him easily, so I was hoping you will allow him to attend the entrance exam at your school."

Nezu remained silent for a few moments. After considering various things, he spoke out in a cheerful tone.

"It is very difficult to accept him since he has not completed any form of studies. But I will believe in you and that child.

As long as he passes both the written test and the practical exam, I will allow him in the school."

Sorahiko smiled hearing the answer. One of his main concern was finally gone.

"Thank you, Nezu. I will be in your debt."

"Haha. There is no need for that. So, what is his name?"

"It is Cipher."

"Cipher..."

Nezu picked up a sheet of paper and wrote something. After he was done, he focused on the call once again.

"Okay, everything is done. Please inform him that the recommendation exam will take place three days from now."

"I got it. Thank you once again, Nezu. I will take you to a drink the next time we meet."

"I am looking forward to it. Then, later..."

"There is one more thing."

"Hmm."

Sorahiko took a deep breath trying to clear his anxiety. He peeked a glance at Cipher who had his eyes closed with his usual emotionless expression.

"Um, how do I say it? Cipher is somewhat emotionally unstable. So he may cause a lot of problem at your place."

After hearing the way Sorahiko described him, Cipher couldn't help but snap out of his meditation and scoff at the old man with a gaze telling 'Annoying old man'. He still remained silent and soon closed his eyes.

He resumed to calm down his destructive emotions, in the off chance that something he didn't like happened. But whether this meditation would work or not, he had no idea about it.

Meanwhile, the conversation between Sorahiko and Nezu was coming to an end.

"I shall take note of that. But you don't have to worry about him causing trouble. We have a lot of capable teachers who can handle them well."

"Haha. I forgot about that."

The old man laughed while rubbing the back of his head sheepishly. Both from the intense glare he received from Cipher earlier and from the causal response he received from his friend.

"Is there anything more to say?"

"No. I am done in my part. Thanks for listening to my request."

"You are welcome."

Nezu ended the call. Sorahiko then put his phone down and looked at Cipher.

"You heard that, right?"

"Yeah. You don't have to tell me twice, old man."

"Then you better go and pack your stuffs. There is not much time left. You should head to Tokyo tomorrow."

Sorahiko jumped from the worn down sofa he was resting on and started walking upstairs. Cipher just sighed and opened his eyes slowly.

'I just hope this hero school won't be a disappointment. This is still not enough. I have to become strong, way more strong.'

Cipher didn't follow the old man, but he went towards a wall mirror and stood in front of it.

He pulled his shirt up and revealed his lean c.h.e.s.t, which was perfectly packed with muscles. But the thing he gave focus to was not his muscles, but a deep and long scar on his c.h.e.s.t which travelled up to his back.

Cipher traced the scar with his free hand as far as he could and made a dangerous expression, full of malice and bloodthirst.

'Just you wait, motherf.u.c.k.i.n.g bastard. I will find you and kill you by my own hands.'

A few seconds later, Cipher pulled his shirt down and turned around with a neutral expression. It was as if all his previous emotions were nothing but an imagination. He sighed for a second time and walked towards his room.

Three Days Later

~~~~~
'The written test was so foolish. Most of the question were somehow related to 'Heroes' and very few barely touched the concept of other subjects.'
"Okay, the written test for the recommendation exam is over. The practical exam will be next, and the interview will be the last."
'And he is so loud.'
Cipher grumbled as he stood beside two people, one giving off a strong aura of hatred while the other had an annoyingly excited and enthusiastic aura. He didn't even need to try and sense their emotions. It was written all over their face.
'At least try to hide your hatred, you red head.'
Both of them were the type of people who he didn't want to be near with. But Cipher found the one who s.u.c.k.e.d at hiding his hatred the most annoying of all. It somehow reminded him of when he was a child.
Of course, there were other people around him as well. But most of them were clearly nervous and weak, grown-ups who he wanted to consider as dumb and imm.a.t.u.r.e kids.
"You will go six at a time for the practical exam. Go to the exam location when your number is called."
The one with the loud voice who Cipher recognized as pro hero, Present Mic started to call out numerous numbers at a time.
Soon, Cipher and five other were brought in front of a gate leading to a racetrack. The track made an arc and ended back at the same place.
But at the end, Cipher couldn't help but grumble once again.
'So annoying.'
He was paired up with the two same people he didn't want to be near with.
"The first exam will be a 3-kilometer race. But it is a course that you won't be able to finish if you just run. Use you quirks freely to reach the finish line."
Present Mic finally seemed to have concluded what he wanted to say and moved aside. Simultaneously, the three lights present on the gate started to blink rapidly.
Seeing this, Cipher took his chance to crouch down in such a way that his two hands also touch the ground. Soon after, he seemed to have different thoughts and stood up on his two legs.
After some seconds, the blinking of the three lights came to a stop and everyone present knew this was the signal for them to start.
Cipher immediately dashed through the gate without looking back. He was unbelievably quick but he was soon overtook by two people.
One of them left a trail of ice on the path he travelled, while the other left a gust on the path he travelled.
'As I expected. These two are annoying but they are the only one here who can compete to a tie with me.
What the old man said was really true. A lot of strong people apply for this hero school. As someone strong, I can grow more stronger in this place.'
Cipher thought as he tried to run as fast as possible on his two legs. But contrary to his thoughts, he didn't use his full strength. No, it was more of a case of 'He couldn't' than 'He didn't'.
Some four to five minutes later, the two who Cipher recognized as strong, were back through the gate already for quite some time.
Cipher also passed through the gate and arrived beside the one who used wind as his quirk. Right now, the man had a look of disbelief plastered in his face for some reason.
"Why are you making such an annoyed face, wind guy?"
Cipher spoke out as he thought the one in front of him deserved some respect. In his eyes, this wind guy may be over excited and over enthusiastic but he wasn't like the red head who was already leaving this place.
Unfortunately, his intention of showing respect immediately proved to be wrong. The wind guy, as named by Cipher, swiftly had his excited and happy expression appear on his face once again.
"You are amazing, aren't you? I didn't see you use anything that looked like a quirk. In fact, did you use your quirk at all? Amazing. You are that fast without using your quirk. That's amazing."
Cipher was taken aback by all the words thrown at him at the same time. He instantly regretted showing respect to this overgrown kid and turned his head at the red head and started following him, fully intending on getting away from this wind guy.
"Wait, before you leave can you tell me your name? My name is Inasa Yoarashi and I am aiming to become a pro hero from the best hero school of Japan."
The wind guy extended a hand forward and exclaimed out relatively slower than before. Cipher stopped walking and turned back to the now introduced Inasa Yoarashi.
"Cipher. Just Cipher."
He flatly responded and waited to know what Yoarashi would say next.
'It better be something fruitful.'
"Cipher, is it? Cool. Let's be friends and then eventually, let's be the two most strongest heroes in the whole world."
"....."
Yoarashi exclaimed out with a serious tone but Cipher paid it no heed. Without wasting even a single millisecond, he turned his whole body backwards and started walking off.
But fortunately for unfortunately, Inasa Yoarashi kept a close distance with him and kept on talking with him nonstop.
~~~~~

"It seems that we have a lot of strong students this year."

The principal of the school, Nezu exclaimed out happily in a child like tone. He along with various teachers of the school were seated around a big screen and they were watching over the practical tests on the screen.

"It is especially the case for those three."

The pro hero, Cementoss responded from beside Nezu. He then focused on three individuals on the screen. At the moment, the three of them were walking in the same direction.

One of them was clearly annoyed while the one following him was ignorant of this and kept on talking happily. The final one remained a distance ahead of them. He was neutral and didn't seem to even look at the two behind him.

"Isn't that Gran Torino's grandson?"

The pro hero, All Might exclaimed out with a bitter expression. Another pro hero, Eraserhead patted his back sympathetically, knowing the reason for his bitterness.

"Those three have a lot of potentials. And they are highly skilled with their quirks as well. I am really excited to see what they will become."

"I also feel the same, principal."

"Then why didn't that kid use his quirk, Eraserhead?"

The pro hero, Midnight questioned out as she sat beside Eraserhead with her legs crossed.

"Who knows?"
