Finding Andria

Chapter 12 - DIFFERENCE

Charles knew he was done for, but suddenly he watched as the man was lifted off of his feet, Irife had tackled him down.

Charles took that opportunity to move. With a weaken knees he forced himself on his feet jumped on the man, pushed Irife to the side and landed a punch after punch which he knew has force and power on it, all his frustration, grievances and anger was pulled out on his punches. All he wanted now was to get the hell out of there.

He didn't remember how much punches he released when Irife pulled him off of him. He stared at the man who was now barely unconscious, blood covered his entire face, and on the condition of his fist he knew he did give off some damage.

"Let's go," Irife urgently said. Charles nodded and pushed himself off the floor. He glanced back at the blooded man; the person who he knew was a real life Reaper, before following Irife he mumbled, "Tell your boss, I'll find him myself." He knew he had been heard.

He saw Irife found his bag pack under the fallen debris. Panting and hurting, they hurriedly went out of the door.

=====

Irife glanced at Charles. He has been silent for the rest of the ride, though she was thankful no one managed to follow them and she had been driving so fast for a few hours too.

"Are you okay?" She asked to break the ice.

"That is an understatement." He answered her.

"You'll heal, so don't worry." She said.

Charles once again glanced at the side mirror, his bruises doesn't look like it was healing albeit it looks like it was getting worse.

"What about you?" Charles turned towards Irife

"I'm used to it." She said. "I work for my old man, and I'm a demon. My pain tolerance is higher than of a human."

Charles nodded.

"How are you feeling?" Irife asked again, "I mean after all that had happened."

It took a moment before Charles finally answered.

"Surprised," He said, "I don't really feel anything had change within me, but for the moment I don't feel anything rather than that. I think I'm in shock."

Irife once again glanced at him. He was surprisingly taking it so well. She had been running around working for her old man but she herself has never experienced having a confrontation with a Reaper, and she was still shaken, heck, if it was her she would be all over the place.

"Where are we going now?" Charles suddenly asked.

"Somewhere you'll be safe for the moment." Irife answered.

Charles stared down on his torn and bruised hands, inspecting them as if it had changed into something else.

"Is it hurting so much?" She asked.

Charles could only shook his head and stared out of the window.

"Earlier," He started. "When I was moving, I thought I think I didn't know my own body, it felt like it wasn't mine, I was moving on pure instinct, and right now it doesn't make sense at all. I have never done anything like that before but my body thinks otherwise."

Irife knew. Charles had looked like a real Reaper earlier. That strong and unwavering gaze so focused and intimidating, he had stood his ground proudly. She was sorry she didn't get to help, she wouldn't even stand a chance at the Reaper, but she was glad Charles did what he did though he looked to be about to have a mental breakdown she couldn't blame him.

"My old man did say you are the direct descendent of your ancestor, their blood are coursing through you. It may seem unbelievable as of the moment but I'm sure you'll learn in time. We have plenty of that."

Charles could still remember the man's eyes. The red tinge swirling around in those black eyes, he was pure power while he himself was not.

He stared outside of his car window. "What's going to happen to me then?" His house was a wreck; he couldn't go back to his normal life not now he already knew he was being hunted.

"I'll bring you to someone. We'll talk to him, he might help us." She answered; although her task was just to help Charles get away she feels the need to at least make sure he will be taken care of.

It was the last question Irife heard Charles all through their journey. He stopped talking to her and only stared outside, constantly shifting on his seat.

They stopped over an unpopulated town for Charles to make a phone call; Irife gave him five minutes afraid someone might recognize them, she believed those people isn't that far away. She was afraid they will aggressively search for him since he was already been watched, they already knew what her old man knew. From the way the Reaper's earlier reaction and the shock registered on his face when Charles used his powers, he had laughed merrily knowing Charles will be a strong addition to their growing numbers.

Dragon Tattoo, her old man did said the new Reapers are being assembled because they are growing their numbers to recreate the House of Reapers, and that man, being the head of the house.

She initially thought it wouldn't make any difference, they were still demons and the line was clear. Reapers were still more powerful than them, but as years gone by she realized the importance of their role, and it is better for Charles to get as far away as possible from those kinds of people.
