Fire And Flame

Chapter 21 - Unknown

Davis was speechless.

"You used your company's ID to update those reports in your computer, because you, being from the IT department, were given charge of it along with some members. Yesterday, your team members had asked Ms. Lily for the day off, as they said you had asked them to leave and you, yourself had something important to do. You even denied their help when they had asked to help you. Wasn't it a little weird? You just committed a mistake, the camera was right in front of your computer and right behind you. It was nice to see that you had cleaned the history soon after you updated."

She played a video footage of David uploading the data.

"You should be more careful when you attempt to do something this lowly to the company, where you were considered an asset because of your work and where earned your bread an butter."

"So, Mr. David, do you have anything to say to prove your innocence here?" she asked. Her face full of grace, her brown eyes reflected confidence and her attitude; a class apart.

"No, Ma'am. I have nothing to say. I admit my mistakes." David's eyes were downcast and had no courage to look at her fierce eyes.

"Good. Draft a termination letter and specify the remarks in the code of conduct certificate. Make sure you report every single mistake he committed during his stay in this company." Laura directed her secretary, Lily, while reaching out a file out of the stack of files on her desk.

"Do not mention his post in this company in his job profile, if he's not willing to reveal the name of the company or the person who paid him."

Working in a huge company for many years could provide him jobs with high payscale in other companies. But not mentioning his post in the job profile would definitely land him somewhere with low payscale. He had still not received his pay from the other company for the task as it was still not completed. There were still two more days to get his pay, but all his plans drowned in deep sea just because of his stupidity and negligence.

"No! It's CashCredit. I am sorry..."

"Leave." She looked at the man hanging his head in dishonor. David packed all his belongings and left the building.

He wasn't given his salary and as the plan didn't work out, he was sure that he wouldn't be getting any money from them as well. One single mistake had cost him a thousand dollars loss; his salary plus a million; the deal's pay.

"Now that everything's fine, let us go back home." Lily patted Laura's shoulder.

"Okay. By the way, I have to go to Maple Inc. tomorrow." Laura pressed her temples. Today was a tiring day.

"Hm… " Lily gave Laura a cheeky smile to which Laura responded, "For work."

"Of course! You will only visit for work." Lily didn't stop smiling.

"So, in my absence, you have to attend all the meetings. What I know is that we have three meetings tomorrow; one with the board of directors and the rest, departmental meetings. I know you can do this. I have all the files ready, you can have a read and present yourself in tomorrow's meeting." Laura packed all her belongings and started to leave the room, dragging Lily out.

"Fine..." Lily frowned upon hearing what all she had to do tomorrow.

"Jacob, I have a task for you. " Laura turned to Lily and said, "Get your belongings, I have something to discuss with Jacob."

Lily went to her cabin and packed all her stuff. When she came out, Jacob's face was glowing with happiness. He was thanking Laura multiple times.

'Shouldn't Laura be the one to thank him?' she thought to herself.

"That's enough of thanking, Jacob." she raised her left brow looking at the happy Jacob face.

"Let us go now, Lily. Get it done by tonight, please, Jacob." Laura requested before leaving.

"Okay, Boss." Jacob was so excited.

Meanwhile, Brandon and Gabriel were busy finding out what exactly happened that made their company's stock drop down by 7 percent.

"It's already late, Sir. We should stop finding the faults now. You need rest. We'll find it out tomorrow." Gabriel was tired as well. It has been four hours now but they couldn't exactly find what was wrong. The IT specialists were also working on it, but still there was no response from them.

"You leave." Brandon's eyes didn't blink even once. He was very much focused on the laptop's screen.

"Good night, Sir." Gabriel wished before leaving to which Brandon didn't respond.

Soon after he left, Brandon received a mail from an unknown sender.
