Fire And Flame

Chapter 26 - The Meeting

After ordering she went to see the outside world through the huge glass window. The city seemed so small like a plastic city model. Humans made great efforts to achieve their goals. Some worked hard and earned success while some tried to get to the top without even letting a single sweat slide across their faces.

Laura worked hard from a young age to support her family and wished her father lived with her like a normal family. The promised she had made to her father was finally fulfilled, but this time, she didn't get a chance to spend a single penny on her family. Her dead family. But her efforts didn't go in vain. She will strive to become more successful and let the whole world know that she isn't just Ms. Laura Williams but the daughter of the late Capt. Lauren Williams and Mrs. Kiara Williams. The whole scene of the accident that took place thirteen years ago, played in front of her on the huge dark sky that hovered over the city. Laura closed her eyes to stop seeing the pool of blood that flowed like a river when she was unconscious. Life can be cruel to some. Laura was one of them.

Pushing away all those thoughts, Laura turned back to go sit on the couch. Her eyes met with Brandon's who stared deeply at her.

"You stood there for fifteen minutes." His voice was calm and deep. The perfect baritone a man should have.

"..."

Fifteen minutes!?

"Ah, I was looking at the city. It is beautiful." Laura felt like an idiot. She looked at the clock hanging on the wall and realised that she stood there for a whole fifteen minutes. How lovely.

But it was worth seeing the beautiful city and reminiscing the old golden days which held a special place in her heart. No matter how harsh the reality was, the death of her loved ones still had a place in her heart as well as her mind; wrapped and cornered. This helped her to move forward in her life and focus on her career. Her family was dead but the promise she had made alive and was still a promise. Promises were meant to be kept not to be broken; Laura's belief.

"The food should be arriving in the next ten minutes." Laura murmured.

"It's okay. Let us work on the plan. Our food will be received by one of the company's employees. He will soon deliver it to us." Brandon was still tapping on the keyboard of his computer.

Laura explained all the necessary details of the plan. She had asked him only to let the plan to be known to only a few staff. The outcome of the plan will not only raise the stock price of Maple Inc. but also promise the company more customers. Laura has always been meticulous about her plans. Her well thought out plan never failed. Her assumptions, accuracy and plans always were perfect. The plan she made this time will be a major shock to all the competitors of Maple Inc.

"Will you be free this evening, Ms. Williams? If you are, I will arrange a meeting with a few trusted people of the company." Brandon looked to his left where Laura sat. She was busy scribbling something on a piece of paper.

"I am free." She then glanced to her side and replied.

Brandon made a few calls asking a few people to show up for the meeting while Laura was still busy noting down a few points that would be required to deliver in today's meeting.

The food arrived in a few minutes. After eating, Brandon thanked Laura for the delicious food. Soon , they went back to work.

The staff arrived for the meeting and greeted Laura with big smiles on their faces. Laura explained them everything clearly in detail. Brandon admired looking at the fierce business woman sitting to his right as she was explaining the whole plan to a group of six members excluding him. This woman had the most prettiest smile, was down-to-earth when not at work and a fierce lioness in front of the whole world. He liked her. She was who she had to be under different circ.u.mstances.

The first time he saw her was when he had seen her in the same hotel where she was celebrating an old lady's birthday. As far what he had guessed, those simply dressed people held a special position in her heart and she smiled her heart out on that day seeing the smiling faces of her people. When Gabriel had mentioned what was the CEO of a huge finance company doing having dinner with 'commoners', Brandon realised that she was still the same as she was when she was young; down-to-earth and lovely.
