From Slave To Ruler

Chapter 20 - Step up.

"And I will teach you the move right after i give a glance at the other four Ground Tappers." Explained Athenderus while pointing at another man to approach, which of course means that Inigo should return to his spot and stop getting all up on the Teacher's nerves. It was a nice way to make some people stop talking. "You there, come forward."

The man or at least he can be considered a full grown man who was approaching was Bacada Theras. The youngest Warrior of not just the Black Team, but the entire Arena. Apart from being an Earth Ripper, the fact that he is so young, will drag in a lot of attention if he survives long enough. Attention comparable to the one Aucia Hynde would bring. But will such attention bring trouble beyond prepare with the Zamerians running wild and with a Chapel based on their religion standing tall on Hawk Kingdom?

"Present us your Sword. And tell us why you picked this one." Ordered Athendurus swiftly. He has a lot of duties to attend too after this, and is trying his best to maintain his patience. Especially in front of this man who chit chatted his way here with another. Seeing how young Bacada is, Athendurus tried to show understanding. He figured that Bacada will become more orderly in time. And that might just work, especially under Athendurus' teaching.

"I've picked it because its a force to be reckoned with." Answered Bacada with a firm look on his face, actually portraying a m.a.t.u.r.e image for once. But that of course didn't last long.

"Hmm?"

"It is like a sharp Warhammer!" Explained Bacada while gazing upon his large sword with War L.u.s.t.

"Oh well, there it is." Thought Athendurus to himself. This is more accurate behaviour for this boy, it felt discomforting to see him be different. But Athendurus didn't say a word about it.

Raising his eyebrows high in perplexion and a bit of annoyance, Athendurus still didn't like this hyperactive one at all but he was still curious about the choice he made, even though Bacada likely doesn't know what he is doing. He picked this big Iron Longsword just because it looks eye catching and dangerous. This LongSword isn't just a LongSword. It's bigger than that. A weapon for a man above 2 meters tall to carry with difficulty, because it ranged 1.40cm in length and the head of the Sword was bigger than the base. So Bacada is right, it is like a very sharp War Hammer. And the chances of Bacada hurting himself with this Sword instead of his opponent, aren't small either.

Trying his best to form a sentence without yelling or taking away Bacada's Sword, Athendurus spoke. "You do realize that you need a lot of strength and stamina to swing a 10 kilogram Iron Sword continuously. Your training will be intensive just so your body form can match the Sword's arsenal even before you enter the Arena battle grounds, winning a few rounds will just make your exercises more difficult!" Reason, maybe reason will change this teenager's mind thought Athendurus, or at least the huge amount of work he has to put in would scare him away from this choice. But no, this Teenager is way too over confident.

"Then I'll train harder than everyone else." Yelled Bacada while holding his sword up high(with both hands of course but still having slight difficulty).

"Aaa. An ambitious one." Replied Athendurus as he let out a deep sigh. "Let's hope your words aren't just words."

"I will not just be a champion, i will be a Ruler. This is just the beginning of the Theras Empire."

"Aha, sure. Next." Raised Athendurus his right hand up and gesturing to Bacada to go back to his spot.

"You know the steps. Walk forwards, show us your Sword and tell me why you picked it." The man he chose to approach next, was Aaron James, described my Arena Master Fin as the "most interesting one." A name based on Aaron's "different thinking."

The fact that Athendurus is picking the men with no sign of picking Auica Hynde before them, kept reminding her of her goals. She kept hating the lack of equality. But she kept it calm and quiet, standing under Arthur's guidelines. He made it very clear that Auica shouldn't get into any sort of trouble that could stop their progress to his plans. Especially for a dull reason like this.

And besides, Athendurus' teachings don't matter to her at least. Auica won't train in the Arena Yards since she technically isn't a slave due to being under Arthur's employment, she is fully a Citizen here, even registered by paper. So she doesn't have to train in the arena training room or yard. There are too many men who are either "hungry", s.e.xist, or simply over competitive when it comes to fame, their pride would be hurt greatly if a woman outcompetes them in ranks. Besides, she has 3 Teachers of her own which are under Arthur's employment. Rather an upper advantage for a Ground Tapper.

Having absolutely no idea what to do with this Sword, or even which are the best and which are the worst, Aaron James just picked up one randomly and hoped for the best.  Swords weren't exactly in any of his classes when he studied Economics.

"Umm. I think it suits me the best." Hearing the two men before him and the replies Athendurus gave them. It sounded like the main answer should be about how the Sword suits the Warrior compared to other Swords.

"And why is that?" Seeing the first person to directly answer with such sentence, Athendrus got captivated.

"It isn't too big, it isn't too small. I can swing it without too much effort or too little of it. It's perfectly above average." Even Aaron's physique is perfectly above average. So this is a highly accurate match even though at the beginning it was undoubtedly a random pick.

"Hmm. Well i see you made the wisest choice compared to those fools." Raising his Chin a bit upwards, gesturing towards Bacada and Inigo. Aaron turned around to see Inigo spinning in his place with his Sword reaching out and Bacada dancing with the 140cm Long Sword. It's surprising how Athendurus didn't behead them for this lack of discipline. But yet again he can't behead people who can possibly make himself stupid rich.

"Perfect choice Aaron." This is the first time these people see Athendurus actually being satisfied. If Inigo wasn't focused on something else, he would be jealous of Aaron big time and simply put Aaron on his blacklist.

"How does he know my name?" Aaron's eyes opened wide in shock as he remained stiff. Speechless. But what word could he speak. Athendurus is trying to finish this sort of interview as fast as possible and he wouldn't appreciate someone slowing him down. Especially with identity questions.

"I expect a lot from you. Even though Fin cleared out that you can't even hold a sword right." Looking straight at Aaron's eyes, Athendurus added. "At least you use reason, which should help you survive longer compared to most." Afterwards he pointed towards Tristan BlackBear and shouted. "You, come forward."

When Tristan Black Bear approached closer towards Athendurus Mihura, it seemed like Tristan could kill Athendurus without breaking a sweat. It seemed like one punch is all this man needs to swing if he wishes to put Athendurus down for good.

Tristan isn't considered tall enough compared to how wide he is. His arms although not showing attractive muscles, are thicker than a Marathon Runner's leg(each). His c.h.e.s.t alone is as thick as two men and along with his arms he looks even thicker. He also carried a half developed pot belly, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. It doesn't seem to bother him either, it suits his own body form. He could easily outcompete all of these new Bear Blooded Ground Tappers even though his power level is 3.

"You know the...."

"A A A." Interrupted Tristan with his finger raised high in front of Athendurus' face. The urge to cut that finger off almost overwhelmed him at the moment. But he had a slight fear towards Tristan just because how powerful he seems. If these people's powers are solely based on the physical attributes a bear would portray, how strong can this person actually be if provoked?

"I know the procedure already." Grabbing his own long curly and slightly messy beard(who looked like a bush), he proceeded to dig his fingers in the beard and try to straighten it out. This...movement seemed strange at first, but at least he showed no threat. And oddly it seems like he wants to look more, attractive. The words he uttered next, were unexpected. "With all due respect teacher Athendurus Mihura, i find it discriminating that you are letting all the men introduce themselves before this kind lady." It was hard to not see these sentences as a threat, especially with Tristan's tone being thick enough to match his size.

Being at the edge of finally snapping, Athendurus approached Tristan a step closer, looked him directly in the eyes and while shaking in anger he said under a low tone. "Are you telling me how to do my job, Ground Tapper?"

"That is not the case, and neither is your self feeding egoism. If it was made possible for this woman to step on the Arena grounds as a warrior, she should be respected as much as me, him, and every other male Ground Tapper in this Arena. Why always put women in the side?"
