From Slave To Ruler

Chapter 21 - ill advised!

"Your Highness." Mildy shouted a man as he hustled through the throne room. The Castle Guards inside the throne room, recognizing this Guard who is commonly seen guarding the Castle's main entrance(Specifically the entrance to the throne room), didn't proceed to cause a scene. This Guard couldn't possibly be a threat towards the King, because the Castle Guards are most certain of his identity and motive. Even if he got "possessed by the devil", being forced to attack the King. The four finest Castle Guards who mostly play the role of his bodyguards, would shred this man into pieces in a matter of seconds. So with such protection, just who can kill the King?

But this isn't an assasination and no sane person would try to simply assassinate the King in mid day, where he is surrounded by four Castle Guards very near him, and several other Guards who have different shifts in that same room. Infact this specific Guard sounds mostly concerned.

When this Castle Guard reached near the throne, he dropped one knee on the ground, bend the other and tilted his head downwards waiting for the King's permission to speak. "What is the problem Guard? Don't keep us in anticiperation!"

"Sir, it's pronounced antici..." tried to correct one of the four Guards surrounding him but couldn't finish his sentence due to the death stare King Mendebal gave upon the Guard.

"The Zamerian Chapel Master requests an urgent meeting with you." Raised the Castle Guard his head upwards, facing the King eye to eye before he spoke. Which made this Guard nervous, the King looks weak enough for anyone to easily kill with a rusty dagger. But that didn't matter considering the King's gold count and overall fame, which is what this Guard felt nervous about instead.

"What do they want this time? Hawk Kingdom has no tax to pay to those fools! We paid for 3 months in advance a week ago." Shouted Mendebal Griffin. Son of Kemezar Griffin. Crowned Ruler of Hawk Kingdom. Shortly, the guy in the throne.

"I don't think that Gold is the problem your highness. In Fact they didn't request a meeting." Now this Castle Guard isn't making sense. First he said that the Chapel Master urgently requested a meeting, and now he is saying that "they didn't request a meeting." Without elaboration towards this topic, it doesn't make sense and the consequences might become fatal even though being a Castle Guard is a great overall social status.

"Then what did he request Guard. Tell me already!" Shouted King Mendebal losing his patience. And at this point he had the right to shout, the topic is s.e.n.s.i.t.i.v.e yet this Castle Guard isn't making sense. But yet again this Guard feels very nervous so his lack of sense is somehow acceptable.

When it comes to the Zamerians(religious organization), it is the one group of people the King  can not Command. They are heavily protected by the overall Zamerian Religious organization and by the "Revolutionary Alliance" as well. This religious organization's army counts around 10,000 soldiers and is constantly expanding. And the revolutionary Alliance, dominates the most Kingdoms(7 out of 16) to begin with compared to the rest of the Alliances, due to the contribution the Zamerians put in. Their roots and relations are as old as time at this point.

If their soldiers weren't occupied in different domains, they would of claimed Hawk Kingdom as their own long ago(but yet again the second smallest(by population) Kingdom(Hay Kingdom) in the whole country, attacked one of Hawk Kingdom's sh.i.p.s while they were doing the slave transport. So maybe the Zamerians are plotting from two domains on claiming Hawk Kingdom. Who invades and captures the capital of the Iron Boot Alliance or any other, claims every Kingdom in that Alliance after all).

But now they are mostly focusing their soldiers towards the Dragon's Tongue Alliance, there isn't a Zamerian Chapel in any Domain of the Dragon's tongue Alliance, while although small in soldier count, there is a Zamerian Chapel in all four domains of the Iron Boot Alliance, which of course makes this alliance less dangerous towards the Zamerians since they aren't putting up trouble. But a lot of Zamerian soldiers are also used to maintain control on other Domains, while some domains being of less importance, in big domains like in The Capital Kingdom(which is literally named "Capital Kingdom".) of the Revolutionary Alliance, there are 2,100 Zamerian Soldiers showing clear dominance even if their work is done in the background.

The Dragon's tongue Alliance Described by some as the true sons and daughters of Kastererma, described on a previous Chapter as the "scaly people". Simply struggle to keep the Zamerians away. Two of the Domains in this Alliance (respectfully two of the most populated Domains), don't exactly have a large population of Kastems on them. To avoid most risk coming from the Zamerians, they all migrated to either of the 3 Domains up in the Rocky Mountains of the Continent which are filled with Kastems(scaly people).

You might ask why these 2 domains still stand in unity with the Kastems instead of becoming one with the Revolutionary Alliance which would give them great financial benefits? Well with the lack of the Zamerian influences in these two domains, these two domains crawling with Kasteremas don't stand for what Zamerians believe in(a.k.a what most of the Kasteremas in this Continent believe in), while a lot of others aren't even interested in religion. Fair to say their relations with the Kastems will stand strong. At least, for now!

Raising his head upwards and facing the King eye to eye, a cold sweat broke from the top left of his forehead, slid all the way down to the edge of his left eyelash and hung on a for moment, falling of on the wooden planks when he started speaking. "His assistant is in front of the Castle Doors. He only said that "The Chapel Master is coming to meet the King shortly, Have him ready!" Ending his own sentence, he knew that the King's ego is rather hurt. He knew what to expect next. Shouting and irrational decisions.

"What! Who is that fool to think that he can order around my Castle Guards, tell me what to do, and disturb my peace." Shouted the King in clear disagreement. If perverted wasn't a strong enough characteristic, his ego is even higher. He could not accept this public embarrassment unpunished. It makes him look like he kisses the Zamerian's boots(which is almost always the case). "Execute his assistant for causing castle disturbance." Ordered the King one of his bodyguards in a rough tone.

Feeling bewildered at first of the King's harsh command, it didn't take long for this personal bodyguard to nod in agreement and ask. "Execute as in to arrest him and get him ready for an execution or...."

Playing with the solid silver goblet in his hand after he took a sip of ale trying to calm down he kept his head straight forward as be glanced upon the Guard on the left, moving only his eyes towards him and in a sudden calm tone the King said "No. Kill him on the spot!"

"Yes your highness! Noded the personal body guard in agreement, grabbed his solid Iron Sword(of average size) and pulled it out of its Scabbard, raised it in front of himself and started jogging towards the Castle's main door.

"Stop!" Shouted a feminine voice from behind which got everyone rather nervous. King Mendebal almost even choked on his ale.

The BodyGuard stopped on his track and turned around to see a maid yelling out such command, it got him rather puzzled. Even more than the King's irrational Command. The bodyguard is used to these maids usually staying on the King's l.a.p with no shame. No doubt disgraceful but neither of the Guards in the room ever heard any of these maids cut the King's Command. Consequences would be irreversible.

"Why the hell did you tell him to stop, Maid? Do you want to share the Chapel Master's assistant's fate?" Mendebal let out a shout, even fisting the throne's arm support woodwork. Which really hurt his hand, but he refused to give into the pain and hid his pain behind that angry face. He isn't exactly physically fit, in fact very slim and short.

"I don't mean to interrupt but!" Her tone raised higher at the next sentence. "This move is "ill advised!"

As if the King got completely triggered by that sentence, he immediately turned his head towards the Castle Guard he ordered just a moment ago, and shouted. "Fallback. Pause task. Take a short break, i need this throne room to be completely empty!"

This was the most unusual scene that not just the four bodyguards, but anyone in this room experienced in their Careers at this castle. How would a word of which a maid let out, effect the King so greatly? It simply doesn't make sense now, does it?

Even though they were confused, they still followed the King's order shortly. They had no choice. All rushed towards the Main Door, heading outside not to put the assistant down for good, but to everyone's surprise "take a break".

Before everyone left, one of the BodyGuards leaned towards the King and asked. "Your Highness, do you really need to be alone? You would be exposed to danger the moment we walk away!" And in this case, the Body/Castle Guard was completely right. If anything, this could also be a huge trap.

"Oh don't you think that i can't protect myself from a maid?" Smirked the King with his eyebrows raised high, and continued urging the Guard to get out by flapping his fingers forwards, basically gesturing him to get out.

"You know that isn't the case Sire! You have many enemies who are probably even waiting in the shadows for an opportunity to take your life." Although wasting too much time with this fool of a King, the bodyguard's intend was still good and his arguments were strong no doubt. But this maid, she is doing something to his mind. To trigger such scene.

He took a quick glance towards the maid who caused this big disturbance, gave half a smile and added. "Oh trust me, i will be safe."

"As you wish sire. If any trouble has reached you, just yell. I will take my break in front of the main doors!" This Guard's loyalty is rather puzzling. This King is under no qualifications to be a ruler, yet this Guard is willing to put his life on the line for the King. Either the Guard sees potential in the King, or this Guard simply is one of the few who takes his job seriously.

Seeing all the Castle Guards speed walk out of the Throne room, he saw the maid approach closer and closer, sitting on his l.a.p and spoke. "Sorry for this disturbance. But..." She reached for a Kiss on his check, landed her soft lips just above his nose on his beardless face and exchanged a few more words. "We don't need to oppose the Zamerians at this time. We simply aren't ready to break relations with them yet. Not with the Kingdom's current population count." A maid advising the King about politics? Well not just advising, she is practically telling him what to do.

"But. What that worthless assistant did, was a big threat to my honour." Tried the King to yell, but... a woman is on his l.a.p after all. His voice was softer than a pillow stuffed with feathers.

"It is, but it's only minor damage compared to how much we can lose by simply disposing that fool." She spoke while playing with his medium length blonde hair which were parted in the middle.

"So what do you suggest for me to do, "my advisor"." He joked as he leaned in for another kiss towards the maid. But unlike her, he wasn't looking for her cheeks. He directly kissed her on the lips.

"God this man's breath is bad!" She thought to herself but acted like she enjoyed the kiss and even brought up a bigger smile.

"Let it go for now. We can eliminate the entire Zamerian army taking shelter in our Kingdom. And much more, when the time is right!"
