A few moments later.

The three Sealand students chasing after Stella gradually stopped when they neared about 30 metres away from Ryger and the others.

“By the way, what’s your name?” Only now did Stella recover. She looked at Ryger and said, “Although the three of them are first-year students, they’re very strong. Probably students in the top hundred of the honour roll! Especially that purple-haired girl, she’s already able to summon elementals!”

She then glanced at Lulu and Logic and couldn’t help but worry when she thought of her brief contact with these three Sealand students.

“Elementals?”

Information about elementals emerged in Ryger’s mind. As for Stella forgetting his name, he didn’t mind. Compared to having this girl who broke off her engagement with Sokal remember his name, he was more concerned whether these three Sealand students would really face off with him for a specimen or not. After all, although his side appeared to have four people, in actuality, his own combat strength was nowhere near Stella who was the third in Class 11, let alone the three Sealand students feared by her.

But thankfully, everybody here was only a first-year student – before scholars were able to develop large amounts of offensive skills, their fighting capability did not come as straightforward as a fighter would. With two mercenaries with okay-ish strength on his, their fighting strength should probably be above the other side, right? Perhaps, he could just as well use this chance to truly understand the level of combat strength of first-year students? This way, the money he paid for these two days wouldn’t go to waste.

As he thought so, Ryger finally calmed down and replied to Stella. “Ryger.”

……

The other side.

The Sealand Natural Sciences Academy’s trio who were pursuing Stella gradually stopped, then looked at Ryger, Logic, Lulu and Kyubey. Their faces slightly grimaced.

“What now, Violet?”

" "

The group of two girls and one boy seemed to be led by this female student named Violet1, who was also the one specially mentioned by Stella – the student able to summon elementals.

With purple short hair and a delicate face that, oddly enough, carried with it hints of arrogance and wildness, she had an air around her that was completely different from the elegant one that Glan’s noble scholars usually had. Violet’s gaze swept across the four individuals then finally at Kyubey. She made her decision.

“Oblation turtles are mutated creatures that are extremely rare. We’re now in the freshmen period of the first season’s honour roll, so the contribution points that we’ll get will be increased a lot. If I can get this specimen, I’ll be able to challenge the top thirty of this season’s freshmen honour roll!” muttered Violet, her mouth exhibiting a hint of untamed confidence when looking at Ryger. Her gaze lingered on the turtle-shelled creature behind Ryger for a few moments.

“We initiate students of the Sealand Principalitiy face a cruel study environment, be it in the entrance exams or in the initiate period, that the Glan Principality’s initiate students are unable to through. When they are practicing tricks in their little labs, we are already training in coliseums. You’ve seen that girl’s combat strength just now. Heh heh, our main opponents this time are those two mercenaries. You two, help me keep them occupied for a moment!”

To Violet’s side, a tall, lanky male student wearing a black peaked hat kept nodding as Violet spoke, seemingly in deep agreement. This male student hurriedly expressed himself, “I’ll take care of that girl mercenary and the blackwolf cub. That cub looks like it hasn’t formed a gemheart yet, perfect for a feast later on, kehheh!”

It was not hard to see this male student had feelings towards Violet.

As for the other female student, who had a mushroom cut, to Violet’s other side, she maintained her strict, serious look and pushed up her glasses. The mushroom girl then looked at Violet and said, “I’ll be in charge of your defence. You go all out and take down that Glan girl. This place is within Glan territory. We need to finish it as soon as possible. Can you do that?”

Before Violet could say anything, the male student opened his mouth. “I’ve long heard from my mentor that as the difficulty in collecting natural specimens rises, the Glan academy which studies evolutionary secrets primarily is already in unavoidable decline. Together with the mollycoddling system over there, there’s no way they can stand up to us.”

“Also, Violet is a student that defeated three freaking gladiators alone. Don’t you believe in her?”

Without saying anything, Violet took a step forward with a notebook of hide in her hand, and looked at Ryger and others not far away, forming a confrontational position.

“We’re from the Sealand Royal Natural Sciences Academy. That female student stole a natural specimen that we found. I advise you to leave now voluntarily and avoid unnecessary trouble!”

Although Violet was a magician, she was still only seventeen and also an individual of an enemy state. Her arrogant expression made Logic and Lulu, already used to the Glan magician’s gentlemanly and humble characters, feel very uncomfortable.

" "

“I found it first! You Sealand bandits!” Stella screeched furiously.

But even so, Ryger didn’t really believe that the other side would start to fight with the four of them for a specimen. After all, this place, in spite of it being near the border of the two principalities, was a clear-cut territory of the Glan Principality!

Thus, Ryger threatened them. “I don’t care what the reason is. You three are in the Glan Principality’s territory and to my knowledge, there’s quite a number of students from the Glan Royal Natural Sciences Academy who comes here to collect specimens!”

If he showed weakness, he’d look weak and cowardly. Ryger thought back to the scene a few months ago at the Accipit Jungle when he faced off against the Blackwolf mercenaries with Auen, and couldn’t help but feel even more confident.

Yet contrary to Ryger’s expectations, Violet’s eyes under the purple short hair showed a hint of disdain. With a snort, the edges of her mouth bent up and she stepped forward.

“Hah hah. Don’t you Glan people talk a lot about survival of the fittest? Good. We of the Sealand academy also believe that nature does not pity the weak.”

Violet gently touched her notebook as though caressing her beloved. As a wave of energy flowed into the notebook, a large amount of fire energy suddenly gathered around with the purple-haired girl as the centre. It was just like Auen did – gathering nature’s power of fire using mathematical foundations! Only, the power currently gathered already far surpassed that of Auen’s when he faced off against the Blackwolf mercenaries.

“Then let us eliminate the weak through combat and determine who that specimen belongs to! Ember spirit beast!

Waves of heat formed an indistinct spirit beast and the surrounding air around it distorted because of the searing heat wave.

“Fuck”

Even Ryger who had proper mannerisms due to the Church’s teaching couldn’t help but curse.

Were they really going to fight outnumbered in enemy territory?

But that wasn’t the end of it. With a flash, Violet kept away the notebook in her spacebox, and in place of the book was a small, exquisite staff. And with another wave of energy, rumbling sounds came from the ground behind Violet near the mushroom girl, and a pillar rose from it. Energy runes were etched densely on the pillar.

“Combustion Totem!”

After consecutively unleashing two academic skills, Violet was slightly exhausted.  Yet what was present deep in her eyes was even wildness and excitement! This was still her first time fighting with students from an enemy country!

She grew up in a country with a cruel slavery system and although the Sealand Natural Sciences Academy also had honour rolls, there were no such things as points from academic thesis. In its place was trial in the coliseum, inspection of their academic skills with actual combat, gaining the academy’s recognition step by step, then joining the war that unfolded around the Sealand royalty’s will.

Undisputedly, the Glan Principality that had warred with the Sealand Principality for several hundred years was their greatest enemy!

“You people that grow up in a greenhouse don’t understand our might. You’ll forever be nothing more than insects, bugs to be stepped on by us!”

A lunatic-like expression of madness appeared on the purple-haired girl’s face and even the wide scholar robes on her moved and fluttered on their own due to her excited energy fluctuations.

And it wasn’t only her that was like this. The two students behind her also showed a craze towards combat in their eyes, licking their lips excitedly just like Ryger when he discovered a new specimen.

In Ryger and the others’ eyes, the purple-haired girl, beautiful and sane just a moment ago, turned into a battle maniac in an instant who spoke unruly words incoherently seemingly because of her fanatic worshiping of the Sealand’s Principality culture of blood and iron. Leading the two students behind her, she charged towards Ryger and the other!

Gulp.

This was a tense moment, but Ryger was paying more attention to the magic staff in Violet’s hand than anything else, swallowing a mouthful of saliva out of envy and thinking how much gold coins he would need to buy this magic staff and how much he wanted one too.

Speaking of which, it wasn’t like Ryger didn’t have any magic equipment for fighting, and the one he had might even be of higher quality than the staff in Violet’s hand. Regrettably, the magical folding fan that Peerless gave to Ryger – a magical equipment capable of unleashing a level-one wind type academic skill – required an amount of energy that the current him could not burden. Water faraway is of no help to somebody dying of thirst – the fan might be useful in the future, but now it might as well be a stick. At least with that, he could hit someone.
