Seeing Violet’s acting so and sensing the energy field’s ripples that seemingly melded with the purple-haired girl’s crazy emotions, Stella’s face turned ugly.

“Be careful of that female student with glasses. She’s very proficient in using Wind Blade for sneak attacks!”

After warning Ryger and the others and seeing Violet’s indomitable aura, Stella willed the energy field on her body surface to flow. White feathers gradually appeared and enveloped her body, and with that, Stella’s body seemingly became lighter and more agile like a floating feather. These feathers floated around Stella’s body and would become dark at times and bright at others, possessing some odd spirituality.

“Feathering!”

The white feathers of fluctuating brightness were illusory and possessed who knows how many sorts of power.

A fight was unavoidable and seeing that this Sealand student was powerful as though she wasn’t a first year student that had only just started school, Ryger was naturally not going to foolishly go at her mano a mano with his sword and use his relatively-weakly physique to fight in close combat.

With a flash, Ryger took out a fan from his spacebox and put away the longsword. This was precisely the magic folding fan that Peerless had gifted to Ryger whey they first met. The fan was later on named Fan of Wind Kite because the monster bird pattern engraved on the fan was a mutated wind kite.

Feeling the strong magical properties on the Fan of Wind Kite, Ryger let out a deep breath. Although he was still unable to properly activate the fan, holding it in his hand at least showed to Stella his long distance offensive methods, preventing her from misunderstanding and thinking that he shied away from fighting even when holding a sword.

Pshew!

Logic, as a veteran mercenary, used his vast experience to silently fling a flying knife. But with a clink, a nearly invisible wind blade was fired, and completely negated in mid-air the flying knife that acted as a sneak attack on Violet.

“This i-!”

Ryger looked over and saw that it was none other than the mushroom girl hiding under the combustion totem who had fired the wind blade. His eyes widened. When he saw how aggressive and spirited Violet was, he lost all intentions to fight with that strong female student head on and instead intended to pick one from the remaining two Sealand students to fight, or even use Air Bubble to pretend like he’s doing something. There was no need to risk his life for some silver coins. 1 He was originally thinking of picking this bespectacled female student, yet the scene of her using wind blades to deflect the flying knife with absolute precision caused Ryger to be filled with incredulity.

“Impossible!”

Ryger was unable to believe that a first-year student that had only begun studies could have such battle instinct and precise control over her skills. If that’s the case this bespectacled female student was most probably even stronger than Violet who was charging towards them. “Aren’t the students from the Sealand academy too strong?” he thought. “Unless… she has some bizarre supportive skills?”

“Out of the way, lame!”

With an amazing burst of fire, Violet lashed Uncle Logic to a side as though she was swatting aside a fly, her words filled with disdain towards mercenaries.

It was no wonder.

In slavery-practicing Sealand, there existed an unsurmountable ravine between nobles and commoners. Those low-level mercenaries of the mercenary associations were almost the same as their household slaves in the eyes of the nobles. If the mercenaries dared offend them, then killing the offender right on the spot was merely a matter of spending some gold coins.

Strong and vigorous, Logic leapt back several times and backed off to about ten metres away. The old mercenary couldn’t help but show shock on the still normal part of his face when looking at this little lass who had attacked him. This level of magic was evidently no longer in the realm of little tricks like Ryger’s Air Bubble was in. As a veteran mercenary, Logic was naturally not going to foolishly charge and engage in a fight of life-and-death with these arrogant brats after noticing danger. But because he took the employment fee and these people were from an enemy country…

Logic looked at the mushroom-headed female student with black spectacles and frowned. This female student’s wind blades were unusually fast and were actually able to accurately deflect his flying knives. Not to mention, she was now standing under that pillar filled with flame energy. That stone pillar evidently had extremely strong protective uses.

He then looked at the male student, uncontrollably frowning yet again when he saw the male student restraining Kyubey with ease using a chain type magical item. Though this blackfire wolf was still a juvenile and didn’t have black smoke coming out of its nose – the sign that a blackfire wolf had yet to form a gemheart, its physical strength still surpassed that of normal beasts. Every muscle of Kyubey’s possessed explosive strength. If even Kyubey was unable to break free, then Logic himself wouldn’t find himself in a much better spot even if he went over and got trapped by that bizarre magical item.

What to do?

……

After Stella used Feathering, her body also seemed to be as light as a feather. Seeing Violet charge at her ragingly, she retaliated with a feather soundlessly. The flying feather’s speed far exceeded that of the flying knife!

Violet waved her magic staff and blasted a blazing fireball towards the feather, towards Stella, only for the feather to fade into a semi-transparent state and phase through the fireball without any issue. Amid Violet’s shock, the feather flickered and appeared right in front of her chest.

Clink!

Yet again the wind blade from the mushroom girl worked its magic and deflected the feather.

An unbelievably precise level of control!

Under the totem, the mushroom girl pushed up her glasses again and calmly said, “Her feather has a time-delaying hallucinatory effect. It’s not that your Fireball didn’t work, it’s that the feather that you see is only the afterimage of its flight trajectory.”

After the mushroom girl’s black-framed glasses were pushed up, it slightly reflected light and also showed her pupils. It was, of all things, a pair of slit pupils!

Violet possessed vast combat experience and had the mushroom girl’s warnings, and pairing these up with the ways Stella had been using to escape before this, Violet more or less understood Stella’s power.

Towards her own power, Violet possessed absolute confidence!

To be more accurate, she possessed absolute confidence in the Sealand Natural Sciences Academy’s history and culture!

In previous graduation tests, the number of times the Sealand Natural Sciences Academy got first place among the six academies was ludicrous, at nearly three fourths of the times it had been held!

And towards the two friends that followed her out on her training, she was also very confident. To strengthen her offensive capabilities, Violet bravely left her defence to Konan. This also allowed her to play to her strength while also avoiding certain deficiencies of hers.

As for Baker?

Violet looked over with her peripheral vision, smirking upon seeing the juvenile blackfire wolf completely restrained. She looked at Stella – once again, she was relying on Feathering’s agility and hallucinatory effects to escape – like she was looking at a lamb to be slaughtered.

Pshew!

Yet another feather was shot at her but this time, Violet unleashed a fireball preemptively and completely incinerated the hallucinatory feather mid-air. The fireball moved towards Stella with full force.

Seeing this, Stella clenched her teeth. The necklace she was wearing flashed and with undulations of magical energy, a half transparent protective barrier expanded out. The fireball hit and a ripple on the barrier passed through. The flames spread in all directions.

Yet the purple ball of fire seemed to have some sort of special properties. Instead of being extinguished after it spread to the protective barrier, the flames seemed to use the energy barrier as fuel and reignited once more.

“What flame is this?”

Stella, who was about to strike back with a skill of hers, panicked and quickly stopped what she was about to do, channelling more energy into the necklace instead. At the same time, she activated a magic ring, shooting Water Arrow at the flames.

“Hah hah…’

Stella’s action only made Violet sneer even more, as though she could already the necklace falling in her hands next. She muttered incantations silently and with a shriek, myriads of purple flames accumulated into a fireball several times bigger than the previous one, at about the size of a baby’s head. Violet shot the fireball at Stella who was panicking about putting out the purple flames on her protective barrier.

Compared to it, the arrow of water from Stella’s magic ring was truly pathetic and fragile. If she was hit by this attack of Violet’s, Stella would really be in danger.

……

At the edge of the battleground, Ryger’s eyes twitched wildly.

The moment when Violet formed that seething fireball, Ryger was able to clearly feel his body cells’ fear. If that fireball’s target was him, what should he do?

He originally thought that this would only be a normal academic exchange between first-year students. Even if it escalated to an uncontrollable fight, there wouldn’t be any life-threatening danger.

But at this moment, Ryger realised, with full clarity, that he was completely wrong!

In an unprecedented state of concentration, Ryger’s instincts were warning him: he must stay away from that Sealand student with bizarre purple flames. Even if he was cut by the mushroom girl’s wind blades, it’ll only result in a bleeding gash. But if he got by that advanced skill of purple flames, then with his weak physique, he might actually die!

After all, he didn’t have a strong body or protective measures.

And from the looks of things right now, there was no one able to stop Violet who was protected by…

“Frost Strike!”

Suddenly!

Just as Stella completely despaired and was about to open a scroll she took out, Lulu – she, like Ryger had never been in a real battle – finally won out against her anxiety when she saw Stella about to face a life and death crisis.

With an unbelievable amount of explosive strength, Lulu leapt high up and slashed at the seething, burning purple fireball with the misting sword in her hand.

With a boom, the fireball exploded mid-air.

Logic, who was planning whether to ambush the Sealand academy’s only male student or to find a way to protect Ryger and retreat, saw this and his pupils immediately constricted. He whispered to himself out of incredulity, “Heart Method!”

The Heart Methods werean extremely rare, special inheritance among fighters. Those who possessed this were even rarer than magicians – it needed not only special ways of cultivation but also needed the support of bloodlines.

The benefits of the Heart Methods were obvious. For normal fighters, they would learn the way of using Vigour by relying on bodily instincts after they advanced to assault fighters. But fighters who possessed the Heart Methods were able to have certain special powers when they’re low-level fighters. And when they advance to become assault fighters, they are able to inject these special powers into their Vigour, tremendously boosting their strength.

Of course, this was only a story circulated between a few fighters. To the scholars, to the magicians present here, the version of  what happened was that the young female fighter used a frost attribute magic sword and nothing more.
