Chapter 12 - Training for an Extermination

"Six, give Emile and Jun the rundown of what happened. Afterwords tell us your ideas for training and we'll collaborate on it to see if there are any more ideas," commanded Carter as he took a seat in Jun's hut.

Six started to speak about what had happened on their journey to find Jorge. He spoke about how they couldn't find anything and split up to find Jorge's body. He then told them about how the covenant showed up and how they have a temporary truce to kill another potential "system" user that is killing the covenant.

"So we're teaming up with the covenant now? There's no way to know if this is a trap. Odds are though that it is." questioned Jun.

"I'm sure it is but we can get access to this forerunner facility and Jorge. There's a possibility that this facility has a spaceship that could get us out according to the data you guys received," said Carter.

"Do we really have any other option though? I bet that once we are fighting the Elite with a "system" the covenant will just glass us to get rid of both of us." spoke Kat while Carter was nodding in confirmation.

"So we get to the facility, revive Jorge, fight this elite, and then take off on this spaceship to go pick up these civilians all while under the threat of being glassed?" asks Jun.

"It's the only way to get off Reach. I doubt that the covenant will put off glassing the place anymore. The only thing holding them back is the fact that this Elite is dodging them. There's not much of a choice." stated Six.

"Alright, well at least it's a simple choice. Tell us about this training," Emile finished.

Six nodded and then said "On the way here I discussed with the system what we could do to train. Well according to the system all forerunner facilities have training areas. So when we arrive there we could use that to train our attributes and skills. Maybe even upgrade a skill. We've got two days until we meet back up with the covenant so until then I was thinking we could train our base attributes."

"Elaborate," said Carter.

"Well, we could move boulders to train Strength. We can spar between us to improve our constitution. we could read to improve our intelligence. We could meditate to increase wisdom. There's a lot of ways we could train though I think we should focus on strength and constitution considering that we will be fighting." said Six.

"That sounds like a good plan. Anything else that you might want to include?" asked Carter.

"Oh! I also found out that when we gain experience we share it in a sense. So the more strength exercises Emile does the more strength experience I gain which improves everyone." said Six.

"That's incredible!" Kat spoke and then continued "Our experience compounds then. We could have everyone focus on one stat then. So Emile and Six focus on Strength, I focus on intelligence, Carter, and Jun work on constitution and dexterity. We could focus on our strengths improving our versatility as a team."

"That's genius, Kat! We'll go with that plan then. Start to it then. We've got two days to improve these stats and then maybe we can convince the covenant to give us a day or two under the pretense to set traps for this elite to get more training in." said Carter.

Noble Team split up in their pairs to go training. Carter and Jun went to the shipyard. Emile and Six went deeper into the canyon. Kat went to the research section of the shipyard to find things to study.

Emile and Six were in a deep ravine with boulders of multiple sizes scattered around them. Six and Emile picked out a boulder that had just enough weight that both of them could feel some strain from.

"To start this training I think we should throw this boulder back and forth to each other while moving until my strength attribute increases. We'll increase the size if it starts to become easy," explained Six.

Six started off applying all his strength into his throw. Not expecting such a rough throw Emile caught it and flew back a couple of yards. In the same manner, Emile threw it but this time he threw it a few yards away from Six to test his speed. Like this they continued to grind their strength.

Carter and Jun were free-running through the entire shipyard while performing parkour whenever they could. From one steel beam to the next they grappled to. Each and every jump, grab and lunge they gained experience for dexterity.

"Jun, let's spar while free-running. Six mentioned that it would increase our constitution. No-kill shots but jab at me whenever you can and stay on your feet." stated Carter as he jumped passed a ventilation pipe.

From above it looked like two dots dashing across the facility and every now and then would crash into each other. Carter would grab onto a steel beam above and then swing straight into Jun. Jun would grab his feet and swing him away. Every punch and kick that made contact gave them constitution experience.

Behind an open security door, Kat was scanning doc.u.ments left and right. Each doc.u.ment could teach her something. How much fuel can a pelican use up on a daily basis? How fast can a spaceship take off? What kind of engines are able to warp? Is it possible to create a vessel using spare parts around?

Every doc.u.ment and book Kat read gained her intelligence experience. Every single bit of knowledge would help.

Noble team did this straight for two days. The training proved to be extremely beneficial. They were ready to deal with the devil.
