Harry Potter And The Dual Lord

Chapter 42 - The Salamander

Camilla eventually released Arthur, much to his disappointment, and said "Come now, we must go to that shop."

Arthur nodded and looked at Elena, who was showing a blank face. He smiled and said "Is there anything you want here?"

Elena shook her head and said "I'm fine. If I see something interesting I'll tell you." Arthur nodded and followed behind Camilla.

Elena followed in his tracks, looking out for anything interesting.

After a couple of silent walking they still hadn't arrived and Camilla asked "Do you two have pets?"

Arthur shook his head and said "No, why, you do?"

Camilla nodded and said "An eagle. The place I'm bringing you to also sell pets. There's a little of everything, with dogs for some and dragons for others. You want one?"

Arthur nodded and said "I do want one, but I never saw anything of interests."

Camilla nodded and turned to Elena "And you Elena?"

Elena said "I'm fine, one has already been prepared for me, I'm only waiting for it to hatch. I should get it at Christmas."

Camilla asked "What is it?" Emilia smiled and replied "A Golden Raven."

Camilla said "Impressive! Those birds are really beautiful and rare. And they are so fast! Your father's gift?"

Elena nodded "Yes, normally the children of the king only get one when they become 17, but because I'm different I get it earlier."

Camilla smiled and asked "How is it in your castle? It must have been great living like a literal princess."

Elena shrugged and said "Life was pretty boring actually. Being a princess, especially a vampire princess, isn't as good as people may think. Think of it like that. Poor people would like to be in your position, a girl from a rich clan with resources and money. But is your life that desirable? Same concept for me, although on a larger scale."

Camilla smiled awkwardly and said "Sorry, I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Elena smiled back and said "Oh no, don't worry. It's not that bad actually. I'm still enjoying life, it's just that I suffered from loneliness, and many people advances, but other than that I pretty much always had everything I wanted."

Camilla nodded and said "Good for you. Hey, we arrived. So, that's the shop.

Elena and Arthur both looked at the shop, and noticed that it was one of the rare ones named. The Salamander. Arthur was shocked reading the name, as this was the shop Dumbledore had told him about!

Camilla smiled to them and said "Come with me inside, I'll introduce you."

The three entered inside and entered a room. A simple room. In the room there were five doors. One leading outside the tent, and the other four were behind a counter.

The room itself wasn't sophisticated either. Grey walls, a few chairs serving as a waiting room, and a counter, behind which a boy who had the same age as Arthur and Elena was standing.

The group of three walked directly to the counter under Camilla's lead because there wasn't anyone waiting.

The boy behind the counter raised his head from his book and exclaimed when he saw the group of three "Camilla!"

Camilla approached him with a smile and said enthusiastically "Rolf! I brought you clients!"

Rolf looked at Elena and Arthur and said "I can see that. What can I do for you?"

Arthur replied with a blank face "Dumbledore told me to say the words 'Office job', whatever they mean. And we want our wands to be untraced."

Rolf looked at Arthur suspiciously and asked "Do we know each other? Your face is familiar."

Arthur replied "No we don't."

Rolf squinted his eyes and said "Yeah, maybe I made a mistake. I don't know about those words either, although I doubt you really are familiar with Dumbledore. I'll get grandma."

Rolf turned around and entered one of the doors before closing it quickly.

Around a minute later, Rolf came back with an old lady. But even though she was of an advanced age, she was still pretty energetic. This most probably has something to do with the fact she is a wizard.

After all, Dumbledore who is a century and a half old, still kick asses, and this lady only looked slightly more than half that age.

The old lady looked at Camilla with a smile and said "Camilla, my child, it's good to see you again."

Camilla smiled back and said "Ms. Scamander, it's nice to see you. I have brought customers."

The old woman said "Please, I already told you to call me Tina dear. And who may you have…"

However she froze in the middle of her sentence, as her eyes were locked on Arthur's face. With a dexterity way out of her age, she took out her wand and pointed it at Arthur.

Arthur, as quick as ever, took out his too and said "I don't want any trouble…"

Tina glared at Arthur and said "What are you doing here!" Arthur began to lower his wand and said "I'm only here to shop. So we don't need to fight. And I don't even know you…"

Tina's glare intensified and she was obviously about to shoot a spell when an old voice arose "Tina, we can't greet our customers like this. You can holster back your wand, he means no harm."

Tina's grasp over her wand tightened as she said "But he is Grindelwald descendant!" The old voice replied "Don't be blinded by your sadness, you know perfectly well he has nothing to do with what happened all those years ago."

Tina finally lowered her wand. Arthur did the same, even holstering it first. He actually knew who they were, despite what he said earlier.

Someone who illegally sells magical animals, who is a friend of Dumbledore, who might resent him for the blood coursing through his veins and who has a wife named Tina?

In this world, only one persons answers to those criteria. The famed magizoologist, who traveled to every corner of the world to discover and study all beasts, and wrote Fantastic beasts and Where to Find Them, Newton Scamander, more commonly called Newt.

One of the doors opened, and an old man came out of it. He walked next to Tina and took her hand in his before looking at Arthur.

He studied him from toes to hair, and said "You are Arthur Grindelwald, I presume?"

Arthur nodded and said "Then you must be Sir Scamander."

Newt smiled and said "Indeed, I am. So, Dumbledore sent you?"

Arthur looked at Tina whose anger had subsided but not disappeared and said "Not really. I want my wand to be untraced, and he told me to come here. And I'm searching for a pet too. Whom other than you could I buy it from?"

Newt looked at Tina and said "You see, he is very polite. He is not his great grandfather." Arthur smiled and said "Well, actually Dumbledore said I am very similar to him."

Hearing him, instead of getting angry, Tina let out a small chuckle and said "Yeah, sure." Arthur smiled at her and said "I don't know what my great grandfather did to you, but I am sorry for what he did."

Tina turned around and said "No, I'm sorry. I haven't controlled myself despite my age. It's just that you look so much like him…"

Arthur nodded and said "So I was told. Back to business, is it possible to untrace my wand?"

Tina said "For that Newt is the best for this kind of thing."

Arthur looked at Newt, unable to hide the glint of excitement in his eyes. This man had after all fought against Grindelwald himself! And he could potentially be one of the most dangerous wizards on Earth.

If he decided to unleash all of his beasts, including the Nundu, which is considered even more deadly than a Dragon, then Newt could probably kill about anyone.

For information the Nundu is a black leopard like creature that is incredibly fast, and has a deadly breath that conveys most of the existing diseases, be they muggles or magical ones.
