I woke up as the sun started to rise, Ruby slithering around my body so as to get more comfortable. I sat up and stretched my torso, extending my arms towards the ceiling with a groan.

Ruby: "nahhh...ten more minutes..." She complains as she grips tightly around my body.

Alastair: "What're you complaining about? You could sleep the entire day wrapped around me if you wanted to." I tell her as I stood up from my bed.

I waved my finger and my robes flew onto my body, dressing myself in an instant. I then snapped my fingers and the robes turned into an exact replica of the Slytherin robes. Ruby soon fell sleep in the comfort of the darkness underneath my robes. I walked out of my bedroom and started cooking myself breakfast in the kitchen I had added last night. As I was cooking, I started to go over everything I had planned today.

The most important thing is definitely the Chamber of Secrets. After that, the room of requirements and then lastly is the Philosophers stone though, it's probably a fake.

Alastair: "I wonder if I should make contact with Voldemort or not." I think out loud as I set my breakfast on the table and start to eat.

After I finished eating, I went to the Great Hall in order to retrieve my time table from Snape. It took me a while to make my way through the stairs but I eventually made it and took a seat at the long table, catching the stares of many of the kids. Snape started handing out time tables and eventually came to me and handed it to me with a sneer. Snape definitely didn't trust me but I honestly couldn't care less. As long as there was no solid proof then I was safe.

I looked at my time table and noticed I had transfiguration with the Gryffindors first. I wasn't too elated to spend two hours with a bunch of blinded hypocrites but it's not like there was anything I could do about it.

After I had acquired my time table, I walked to the transfiguration classroom and took my seat. There was an adorable cat sitting on the professors desk and I knew instantly that it was McGonogall. I picked up the cat, though it protested and jumped out of my hands and walked out of the classroom.

McGonogall had the unnerving ability to keep a class quiet with little effort and proceeded to tell us the dangers of her class and the severe repercussions we would face if we were caught causing any tomfoolery. She then started droning on about transfiguration and the proper incantations and wand movements to properly turn a matchstick into a needle.

This was something that I had learned ages ago so I pulled a book out of my pockets and started to read up on space and time magic. These were very rare magics and not many tomes were written on the subjects. The one I was reading was probably one of the last remaining ones on the planet. Apparently, the reason for this was certain wizards and witches feared these types of magics and slaughtered anyone who was skilled enough to wield them, burning their precious libraries and thus, space and time magic was lost into the dusts of history but luckily, I had managed to find one such tome in my family's vault and it was quite extensive.

Soon after I got through the first chapter of the book, McGonogall ended her lecture and told us to start the practical part. Hearing this, I took out my wand, chanted the incantation and swished my wand and just like that, the matchstick had turned into a beautiful, golden ornate needle with snakes as designs twisted around it. Seeing my completed work, I raised my hand and called McGonogal over to me, showing her my needle. Needless to say, she was very impressed.

McGonogall: "Congratulations Mr. Serpent. I haven't seen such a needle in all my history at Hogwarts. It seems you truly have a talent for transfiguration." She said as she closely examined the needle.

Alastair: "Nonsense professor. I just practiced a lot." I say with a smile as she nods.

She then awards me ten house points and leaves to check on the other students. I put the needle back on my table and start my reading again. It was a truly fascinating subject. It seemed like the only piece of space magic that was still alive was apparation but even that was a perverse imitation of what was once a divine skill. Space magic could bend reality, warp what was real and what was imaginary and call forth singularities that were only seen in the creation of...well...creation such as the Big Bang.

Time magic was something completely different but equally powerful. With it, you could change the past, forge the future and even become foreign to death. You could turn back the clock until you were young and stay that way forever. This would be an attractive offer to anyone. It's a shame that I'm already practically an immortal. However, that did not diminish the importance of such a magic. These were both extremely powerful magics that I would need to spend countless hours learning and improving upon.

After I had finished making note of the parts of the first chapter that I didn't understand, McGonogall alerted us of the end of class and I packed my book up, grabbed my wand and holstered it before leaving in a hurry.

Ron: "What's his problem?" Ron asks, Harry the sheep.

Harry shrugs his shoulders as they too, leave the classroom. I bolt out of the room as quickly as I could. I was in a major hurry. I couldn't wait to find the mysteries that awaited me in the Chamber of Secrets. Also, meeting a being that had been alive for thousands of years (Ruby not included) was very enticing.

Ruby: "I don't see why you're so excited to meet that lizard. I'm much older and stronger than that snake could ever be." She hisses at me as her head pops up from my collar and her tongue flicks against my cheek.

Alastair: "Of course I know that. I'm just excited for all the knowledge that's hidden in those walls. All of Salazar's discoveries and magics are just there, waiting for me to learn them." I say with a gleam in my eye.

All I could think about was the insurmountable knowledge that was waiting for me. It was a treasure above treasures for any who valued magic and wisdom above all else. Also, the chamber itself was going to be vital base of operations for me while I'm in Hogwarts. I could use it to conduct illegal experiments such as the use of unicorn blood for creating wards and runes, or I could practice my space and time magic. I needed to find a more powerful way of apparation that way I could bypass Hogwarts' anti-apparation wards. Of course, I could simply overpower them but that would alert Dumbledore and would thus defeat the purpose.

It wasn't long until I came to the abandoned bathroom, M.o.a.ning Myrtle the horny ghost jumping at me as soon as she saw me. Sometimes I wonder how her character was appropriate for the Harry Potter novels.

I walk towards the sink and rub my finger against the snake coiling around the faucet.

Alastair: "Open." I say in parseltongue.
